"Is Dylan texting you again, Y/N?" B/F/N joked while I rolled my eyes.
"Yes, he was...Because Aaron just texted me that he caught Dylan texting Y/N." Priya chuckled, putting her phone away and continued to paint her nails.
"You guys do realize that they're right next door, right?" I giggled as I continued to read "Fangirl".
As I was speaking, I heard a knock at the door, causing me to get up and walk to the door. Opening it, I found my fiancé, Dylan standing outside with his car key in hand.
"Dylan, you know we're not supposed to see each other, right?" I whispered, looking at him in surprise.
"You know me, Y/N. I can't go a day without you..." Dylan pouted his lips out resembling a puppy or Artemi Panarin.
"What's the key for?" I pointed at the keys in his hand.
"Oh, we're going out for dinner..."
"Oh really? Where exactly are we going?"
"I was thinking Buffalo Wild Wings?"
"Geez, how romantic."
"That's where we had our first date if you forgot..."
"I was being sarcastic, Dyl..."
"Oh. Well, come on!"
---
"Hey, Aaron?"
"Yeah, Jake?"
"Dylan's been gone for an awfully long time...Where did he say he was going?"
"Uhh, he told me he was going to Target to get some more food..."
"Should we go over next door and ask the girls if they saw him?"
"Let's go."
And just like that, we put on our shoes and things and walked over to the room where the girls were staying. I knocked on the door and I heard a voice saying, "Coming!"
We stood patiently outside for a few seconds and we saw Y/N and Priya holding their hands out in a weird position.

"Why are you guys holding out your hands like a T-Rex?" Aaron tried to keep his laughter in but I just straight out burst into laughter.
"We were painting our nails, thank you very much... Anyways, why are you guys over here?" B/F/N looked confused, looking at me while Priya looked at Aaron.
"We can't find Dylan..." Aaron straight out said it while I face-palmed myself.
"That's strange because we can't find Y/N..." Priya gulped nervously until we looked at each other in realization.
"Do you know where they might've gone?" Aaron looked at them before I groaned.
"Let's check Target and if not, we'll try again..." I let the girls get ready since they were in their sweats and we went back to our room to get changed.
---
"I'm so glad I got to see you again, Y/N." I bit into my Buffalo wings and she chuckled.
"Tell that to me when you don't have Buffalo sauce all over your mouth." She grabbed a napkin and started to wipe my mouth.
"Oh, thank you." I sheepishly blushed and she giggled, shaking your head.
"Can you believe it? By this time tomorrow, we'll be Mr. and Mrs. Dylan Larkin." She sighed, resting her hands on the table and I took them into my hands, giving them a tight yet gentle squeeze.
"I can't believe it... Have I told you how much I love you?"
"Everyday since we were both 14, Dylan..."
"Wow, we've been together since freshman year in high school."
"I know, 5 almost 6 years together..."
---
"Ok, we now know that they're not in Target..." Jake blushed and we glared at him.
"You think? You almost got us kicked out because you were screaming his name down the aisles." I groaned, banging my head against the steering wheel.

"Wait a minute... I know where they might be..." Priya nodded her head, typing up an address onto the GPS.
"Is that an address for Buffalo Wild Wings?" B/F/N looked at the GPS and she nodded her head. "Oh that's right, that's where they had their first date...."
"Well, let's floor it, Ekblad!" I heard Jake shout.
"Hold onto your horses, Virtanen!" I yelled back to him.
---
Dylan and I were watching the Carolina-Montréal game on the TV they had when we saw a few faces come towards our table.
"Found them!" I heard Aaron and Jake shout to B/F/N and Priya and they came over.
"We knew you'd be here." Priya panted as she caught up with her breathing.
"What do you mean?" I looked at them a little confused.
"Well, Mr. Larkin here told us he was going to Target..." Jake blushed and I groaned.
"He wanted to see me one more time before tomorrow. He was feeling a little nervous..."
"Dude, you could've told us and not send us on a wild-goose chase!"
"Sorry... Anyways, do you guys want to stay?"
"Definitely, I heard their hot wings were good..."

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
