《Hockey Imagines》Tyson Barrie ~ CA

"Tyson Barrie still has not gotten up after that hit to the boards from Ryan Getzlaf and he's only had barely a minute of playing time, folks..."

"I have a terrible hunch that he has suffered an upper-body injury, preferably his clavicle...."

"Let's keep in mind that Barrie is only 5'10 and Getzlaf is 6'4, so that's a bit of a height difference right there. But if it was someone like Jamie Oleksiak who's 6'7, Tyler Myers or John Scott who're 6'8, maybe even Zdeno Chara; who's 6'9, then we'd be talking more of a serious injury...."

I couldn't bear hearing the analysts talking anymore, so I immediately grabbed all of my things, said goodbye to the WAGs, and ran down to the locker rooms.

Walking inside the locker room, I watched the trainer trying to pop Tyson's left shoulder back in place; but Tyson was just screaming and wincing in pain.

"Oh hey, Y/N..." The athletic trainer mumbled, allowing me to walk in.

"Hi, Andy...How's he doing?" I softly smiled, walking over to where they sat on the bench, looking at Tyson.

"I-I'm afraid he's suffered a fractured clavicle and there might be a chance that's out for the rest of the season..." Andy started to put his medical belongings away. "But, he definitely needs surgery on this, ASAP."

"Is there any possible way that we can go to the ER and see what they say?"

"I'd recommend that...More than likely, they're going to perform the surgery either tonight or early tomorrow morning..."

"Alright, thank you, Andy! I'll update you guys with his status post-surgery..."

"Thanks, Y/N. Hope you recuperate back in time for the playoffs if we reach 'em, Tyson...."

"Thanks for your help, Andy." Tyson painfully smiled as Andy put on a temporary sling for his arm.

Turns out, Andy was right. Tyson did indeed fracture his right collarbone and just hearing that reminded me of my younger brother, Connor McDavid's injury back in October.

"Ms. McDavid?" The nurse peeked her head out of Tyson's room.

"Yes?" I sat up since I was dozing off, waiting for Tyson to get out of surgery.

"Mr. Barrie has successfully undergone his collarbone surgery...He asked me to bring you in..."

"O-Okay..."

I got up from the uncomfortable plastic hospital chair and went inside the room to find Tyson hooked up to an IV machine and he was reading a sports magazine.

"The doctor's given him some painkillers as a prescription for the collarbone that he has to take for the first few days to subside the pain, but he should be fine."

"Alright, thank you so much!"

"No problem, you can always press the red button if you need anything...I'll check up on your collarbone in a few hours...."

And just like that, the older nurse left the room, leaving the door open in case he was up for any visitors.

"How're you feeling, baby?" I softly murmured, walking over to the empty chair and sat down next to him, holding his hand.

"A little groggy, but that's due to the anesthesia but I'm fine....How are you doing?" Tyson softly smiled, kissing my hand.

"I've been worried sick for the past few hours."

"Did you sleep well?"

"I didn't sleep at all, I was really furious..."

"Y/N, it happened-"

"Should I come back later or what?" I heard a familiar deep voice coming from the door and turned around, finding my brother at the door.

"Hey Connor, shouldn't you be at practice in Pepsi?" I goofily grinned and he rolled his eyes.

"I told Coach I had personal reasons to take off for today..."

"And what's the reason?"

"To check up on you and Tyson, but mainly him...I heard what happened last night...."

Connor walked over and he gave Tyson a fist-bump. "How're you doing, man?"

"I'm doing well other than my collarbone being in excruciating pain, but good. How about you?"

"I'm doing fairly well, but I'm not playing tonight's game against the Avs...."

"What!? Why on Earth would you do that, Connor?" I shrieked, looking at my brother in disbelief.

"I thought I could be here for the day and help you guys out, speaking from my experience; this is not fun at all."

"Geez, thanks for the wise comment, Connor."

This time, Connor rolled his eyes and Tyson spoke up.

"The Oilers do know that you're here, right?"

"They do..."

"And the Avalanche know we're here for you, Tyson!" I saw Matt, Gabe, Nate, Erik, and Nate run into the room.

"Wow, I guess it's just going to be chaotic today?"

"I love you too, Barrie." Nate playfully rolled his eyes and Matt smacked him in the head. "What was that for?"
