"I am not going to the masquerade ball, Nikita!" I groaned at my best friend, Nikita Scherbak.
"Please Y/N? I have to bring a plus one and you're my best friend...." Nikita pulled out a puppy dog face, causing me to sigh.
"Alright, I'll come to the ball...."
"Yes! I'll come pick you up at 6, and you have to wear something fancy..."
I was unsure about going at first, but then I shrugged the feeling off, getting ready for the dance.

"I just gotta talk with Galchenyuk for a few, be right back!" Nikita smiled, hugging me before he left the scene.
I sighed, drinking my sparkling water before someone bumped into me.
"Donc désolé, Mademoiselle!" A French accent spoke to me, turning around and examining the stain.
"Il est pas un problème, vous êtes pardonné." I tried to dab the stain off, before I felt the stranger still staring at me.
"Oh sorry! I'm Zach, by the way." Zach outstretched his hand for me to shake.
I shook his hand, "I'm Y/N, it's nice to meet you, Zach!"
"So, who are you here with for tonight?" Zach asked in his cute French accent.
"I'm here with Nikita, but he's just my friend...." I awkwardly scratched the back of my head.
"Oh, I shouldn't have asked. I am so sorry!"
"It's fine..." I smiled, looking at the time. "It's 11:55 right now, do you want to dance?"
Zach nodded his head, leading me out to the crowded dance floor.
I put my arms around his neck and he put his by my waist, starting to sway along to the song.
"And this next song is 'Call Me Maybe' by Carly Rae Jepsen. Hope you guys are having a good time tonight! And P.K., if you're out in the crowd tonight, I am still disappointed that you got the lyrics wrong in that Duel..." The DJ aka Brendan Gallagher spoke into the microphone.

We transitioned into a slow but fun dance, Zach twirling me around a couple times. The time struck as it signalled that it was midnight.
I took a deep breath, closing my eyes for a minute before I opened them again.
"Do you want me to go first, or you?" Zach asked, cupping my face in his hands and I reciprocated the same.
"How about we do it in 3...2...1...." I slowly took the mask off of Zach's face while he took mine off.
My E/C eyes stared into his chocolate brown eyes, causing goofy grins to come up on our faces.
"Um Y/N?" Zach still stared into my eyes, but looked down at my lips.
"Oui Zach?" I smiled softly, before Zach kissed me by surprise.
At first, I was hesitant, but then I kissed back for a few minutes before someone interrupted...
"Y/N? Zach? What are you guys doing?" Nikita's voice caused us to pull apart.
"I guess you can say that Y/N and I are dating now?" Zach laughed nervously, avoiding eye contact with Nikita.
"Finally! I was going to set you two up, but looks like my job here is done!"
"Shut up, Scherbak!"
