"Connor, it's okay to be nervous, but not this much!" You told your boyfriend, Connor, who was currently sitting next to you. He was biting his nails and tapping his foot excessively that it annoyed you a little bit. You know he'll be drafted in the top 10, maybe even first overall!
"What if I can't live up to my expectations Y/N? People are expecting me to be the next Sidney Crosby or even the future Gretzky!" Connor bit his thumbnail, avoiding eye contact with you.
"Connor, look at me..." You put your index finger under Connor's chin and tilted his head so he made eye contact with you. He reluctantly looked at you, biting his lip.
"Anywhere you are drafted, whether it's Edmonton, Montreal, or Winnipeg, I'll be there with you. You're not going to be alone in this journey. You will always have me!" You kissed Connor's cheek. He smiled and stopped biting his nails and tapping his foot. He grabbed your hand and held it in his bigger ones.
"The Edmonton Oilers have selected with the first overall pick..." Gary Bettman opened the envelope, reading the name, "Connor McDavid, Erie Otters, OHL!" Connor let go of your hand to go up to the stage.
"I'm so proud of you!" You whispered to Connor, happy tears pooling in your eyes. He kissed your cheek before he went up to the stage.
He shook hands with the Oilers and the Commissioner while taking the 97 Oilers jersey and putting it on. He went backstage to do some draft stuff before coming back.
"Looks like we're moving to Edmonton...!" Connor laughed in your ear and you nodded.
"We can look for apartments when we get to Edmonton." You laughed back to Connor.

You and Connor watched the rest of the draft before you and Connor went to greet the Oilers organization, watching Connor talking to the staff and the scouts about how excited he was to be a part of the Oilers. You looked down on your phone when your cousin, Taylor Hall tweeted an indirect tweet to Connor. You showed Connor the tweet after he finished and he tweeted back,
"Sorry to take the first overall crown from you and Ryan! Can't wait for training camp with you guys ;)"
"Better go back to the hotel and get stuff ready for the flight..." You grabbed Connor by his hand, going back to the hotel after the draft was done for the night.
