'Aminah' is the story of Aminah, a girl struggling with dissociative personality disorder (also known as multiple personality disorder) until Dr. Jehangir decides to help her.

The premise is interesting, but difficult. Very difficult. My man, I'm sorry to disappoint, but the state of the English here is rather sub-par. It took me at least ten chapters to figure out what exactly I was reading, and even then I only saw the big picture without any details. It's an incoherent mess, friend. An incoherent mess. And because it's such a mess, I'm left wondering how accurate the portrayal of DID was here. It didn't quite convince me.

The characters… hm. I think they're a little black and white. Either good or evil, or an 'evil' person who redeems themself and is then only good. Where's the moral greyness that's present in all humans? They're kind of lacking, the characters. I did, however, notice that Aminah's distinct personalities were decently written: I liked how they were so different and how that became evident due to, for instance, differences in posture.

The GPS. Oh man, major editing, please. I can't follow the story well. It's really difficult to read the way it is now, which makes it seem disorganized and messy, kind of all over the place.

Lastly, I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again: tone it down on the moral lessons. I love this book's message of accepting the mentally ill, I truly do. I mean, I've got autism, and I know how terrible it can be when people don't accept you because of your disorder. However, I do not want this 'treat the mentally ill with respect' shoved down my throat; I want the story to show me this lesson with subtlety, so I can figure it out for myself instead of being told 'this is right and this is wrong'. If you write the story right, people will find the hidden moral lesson. There's no need to push it in our faces like that.

Interesting premise, touching lesson, but the execution leaves much to be desired.
