'In The Land Of…' is not one story, but rather a small collection of three stories written for contests on Wattpad's children's fiction profile. That's something else for a change! Of course, children's fiction is kind of different from the kind of stories I usually review, but I'll try to do my best and judge as fairly as possible.

A children's story does not need the same amount of complexity and depth as a story for an older audience, though it shouldn't lack in depth either. The three stories in this book surely capture the usual simple and often silly plotlines characteristic in fiction aimed at younger children. Though there could be a little more detailing here and there, just a tiny bit of more elaboration, the three wildly different stories do feel like children's fiction to me, which is a good thing in this case. I can see the morals of the story clearly, as is common and also a good sign (mostly).

The characters are also a little simple, but yeah, short children's fiction. If I were a member of the target audience, I would have few problems with them. The one thing that bothered me a little, was that I often found characters acting younger than their age. This could easily be fixed by either lowering the given age, or by writing in a little bit of extra maturity.

The GPS is decent, though a few wobbly paragraphs made me lose track of the story occasionally. I would recommend editing. I also felt that, in case of the first story, the 'fairy tale' vibe wasn't fully across. I suggest looking into the narrating voices of earlier fairy tale writers and mimicking them, in order to develop a more refined voice of your own!

What can I say? It's a cute little book.
