《Book reviews *Requests Closed*》'My Brother's Best Friend' by Grinning_Sunflower

It's still pride month and this story I picked fron my requests also festures LGBT+!

And to think I wasn't even looking for that. It's such a coincidence, it must be a sign of some sorts.

My Brother's Best Friend sounds like a cliché story, but it's not. This slice-of-life story is about Anna and Tony Lee, twins. When Anna starts dating her brother's best friend, Miguel Rodriguez, Tony gets very pissed off and shuts them both out. Anna tries her best to find out why, and we follow the cast and their families and friends through all their good and bad times.

I was honestly surprised by this story! I hadn't seen this before; it took a common trope and succesfully transformed it into a fascinating new story. And it has LGBT+? Kudos to that, friend.

I really liked all the characters: they are very well-developed, they show their emotions and have their own flaws, interests and personalities, making them feel like real people. The problems and their reactions to them are portrayed realistically and the story mentions both the good and the bad things in life.

The GPS is sublime. I can't remember seeing a single mistake, besides maybe a stray typo.

Another thing I thought was well done, was the diversity. The Lee twins are Asian, Miguel is Hispanic, the list goes on and on... it's refreshing to not read about those stereotypical white people for once, and I am white. Good effort when it comes to diversity is something I'll always encourage!
