I'll be honest: I'm not the biggest chicklit/romance fan, and that might be noticeable in the review.

To start it all, this book is written by RElizabethM. Its name, Second Lanark, refers to the name of a residence at campus. This is where Elizabeth lives with her roommate Patricia (Tricia). We follow her in a school year full of drama.

Now let me say that I can't remember seeing any spelling mistakes in this book, and that's a first. Big thumbs up for that, it's a remarkable prestation!

The characters are okay. There's characters who you like in the beginning and then you end up disliking them, and the other way around. That helps keeping the story real, so that's cool. I do think the main character could be annoying at times. For example, when she decided to go on an exchange with a university in Britain because her boyfriend lives there is a little... no, actually I think that was really stupid of her? And that whole 'I might never see Rob again' thing? Girl, there's this thing called a telephone, and when you're done with school, you can move to Britain or he can move to Canada and you'll both be happy.

To be honest, things like the examples above happen all the time in romantic books. I guess the bittersweet romance thingy just isn't for me.

The story itself was really enjoyable though, even with the romance being a bit cheesy/ over the top at times. It was funny, and I really enjoyed reading it. I've got no idea if university is really like that, but it sounded like a fun university to be in.

So if you're able to put up with the romance, I suggest you give this story a try!
