《Book reviews *Requests Closed*》#2: 'Obsession' by shaukai

Second review is here, this time with the book Obsession by @shaukai
This book is a mystery/thriller kind of book, about a guy who has this girl who loves him a lot and stalks him.
If you're familiar with Anime, you possibly know the term 'yandere'. That's what the girl is. It's basically Yukiteru Amano and Yuno Gasai from Mirai Nikki, but then in a non-anime book.
Even though it has been done before, I think shaukai has done rather well. The story has correct grammar, which is very important to me, and the characters are... interesting.
Jacob Grayson, the main character. Tia Boise, the stalker chick. Mona Rivera, the slightly neglected best friend of Jacob who is seen as a villain by Tia.
I like how the characters are written. I think I liked who I was supposed to like (ex. Jacob, Mona) and hated who I was supposed to hate (ex. Tia).
But the parents.
Those. Damn. Stupid. Idiots.
They are literally so dense to what is happening in the first chapters and it's just so FRUSTRATING
I haven't figured out yet if that's a good or a bad thing, but interpret it in any way you like.
As for things that could use improvement...
The first few chapters were a bit... boring at times. I understand that those chapters are mainly for introducing characters and storyline, but I felt like they moved at a slow pace. In the later chapters, around the part where the family got kicked out of church, things started to get more interesting in my opinion. If the first chapters were as well paced as the last chapters, I bet more people would stay interested!
On a sidenote, I recommend you read this story. It may be a little boring in the beginning, but it only gets better and I think it deserves more than the 900 reads it has. So I hope shaukai decides to keep writing it, because it's good!
On a scale of one to ten, one being lowest and ten being highest, I give this story a 7.5!
