《Endangered》6.) Tempers and Consequences

She didn't mean too. Her brothers scrambled off the couch calling out to their mother with frantic scared eyes. "Mommy wake up." They held her hand and tried shaking her but she hadn't budged.

Blood seeped out of Flora's head leaking onto the floor. Both boys had tears running down their faces as Lillian stood there in shock. She slowly approached seeing that the rock she threw was much bigger than she expected.

Nolan stepped into action having a kitchen rag placing it on his mother's wound. As Lillian got closer he glared at her.

He growled at her. "You've done enough."

She stepped back looking at how serious her brother was. Then she looked at Nial who was still crying but had grabbed a towel of his own applying it to his mother head.

"I didn't mean to." She replied meekly looking at her shoes regretting what she had done.

While Lillian was sulking in a corner Nolan called his dad. When he got no answer he called one of his many uncles. When they heard that Flora was hurt they rushed on their way to the house.

When they were waiting for an adult to get there Nolan kept his attention on his mother all the while making sure Lillian didn't come anywhere close to her. Nial was still crying rubbing his mom's hand.

Axel and Roman ran into the house examining what was going on. Roman got down gently moving Nial out of the way to take a look at Flora.

"What happened?" Axel asked.

Nolan pointed a bloody finger at Lillian. "She did it." At that moment they all looked at her. Lillian backed up feeling like an outsider to her own family. She regretted what she did. Her intention was to never physically harm her mom but to let her know that she was indeed mad with her.

An hour later Dorian ran inside the house looking scared and panicked.

"Where is she? Where's my wife?!" Axel tried calming him down. "What hurt her?" He asked once he saw the bandages on her head. Axel leaned into his ear whispering. Dorian's eyebrows furrowed taking in the information then shifted to his daughter who sat down on the floor by her parent's room.

He stood straighter gulping. Dorian looked away from Lillian ignoring his daughter as he passed her. Lillian was upset, she tugged on her father's hand pleading with him. "I didn't mean to daddy, please."

"How could you do this to your mother?" Dorian said not even looking at Lillian. She stood in front of her father looking up at him sobbing. She held onto her father's hand not wanting to let go.

"Daddy," she said with her voice cracking.

"No, Lillian. I'm disappointed in you." He shrugged her hand away and closed the door behind himself.

Later on into the night, the doctor came down assuring them Flora would be alright.

"Dorian would like Lillian to be escorted to the pack house for the night.

"Daddy doesn't want me here?" She asked wiping away another stray tear.

The doctor had on a solemn face. "I'm sorry my dear."

"I'll take her to my place." Lillian turned to see Tilda looking at her with the same expression as the doctor.

"Then I'm going too," Axel said standing up.

"Still don't trust me?"

"Flora would kill me if I don't. Besides who knows what you'll do to an impressionable child." She glared at him. Tilda took Lillian to her small cottage with Axel in tow.

"Honey, can you tell me what you and your mother were arguing about before your fight?"

"I told my mom that I wish you were my mother. I didn't mean it."

"Even in anger we sometimes say things we don't mean. You surely hurt her with your words. Perhaps you should apologize when your mother awakens."

"I thought I meant it, but I just wanted to hurt her...I was just mad." Lillian felt fresh tears falling down her cheeks. "I want my mommy."

Tilda and Axel consoled her until she eventually fell asleep. In the morning Tilda and Axel both took Lillian back to the house where the doctor came out into the living room.

"Well everybody, it seems at my old age, I miss some things. Flora and Dorian are expecting once more. Gasps were heard around the room. "The hit she took in the back of the head is healing faster than a normal wound meaning that the baby or babies are healing her. That would also explain Dorian's hostileness towards Lillian because his lycan was already sensing the protectiveness of his female and pup or pups."

Nolan glowered at Lillian. Nial looked up at the doctor. "So my mom is okay?"

"Yes."

"Your father wants you to visit your mother. She's unconscious but she'll wake up soon." The boys ran up the stairs without a moment's hesitation.

"Am I allowed too?"

"I don't see why not. Go on ahead my dear." Lillian made her way up the stairs and stood in the doorway. Tilda came up behind her giving her a little push inside. Dorian looked from her to Tilda and stood up. He talked to her out the door while the kids were at their mother's bedside.

Nial caressed his mother's stomach while Nolan held her hand hoping she'd wake with his touch. Lillian watched from the foot of the bed regretting yelling at her mother and losing her temper, throwing the rock.

She tried to reach for her mother but Nolan slapped her hand away. "You don't deserve to touch her." She looked to Nial for back up but he shook his head. He sided with his brother on this. All Lillian could do was hang her head in shame and sit on a chair in the room.

While Lillian was lost in her thoughts, Dorian came back in the room. Dorian moved Flora's hair then held her hand.

"Dad I don't want Lillian in the room," Nolan said without showing any type of remorse.

"No, dad I want to stay."

"You hurt her!"

"And I regret it."

"This is all your fault if you hadn't left in the first place."

"I just wanted to do something useful."

"You're stupid."

"That's enough!" Dorian said looking at his two bickering kids. "I don't want to hear another word. Your mother is trying to recover and you two arguing is not helping."

After some time Dorian decided to give Lillian the room with Flora since he noticed the boys were being hostile towards her. They wouldn't even let Lillian touch Flora even after Dorian had scolded them.

For the longest time, Lillian was quiet. She's the one responsible for her mother's condition and on top of that, her mother is pregnant. She had heard all the stories of how difficult it was for her mother carrying her and her brothers. Even much so that her mother almost lost her life giving birth to her.

"Mama my brothers hate me," Lillian sobbed. She felt her mother's hand squeeze hers back. She looked up with teary eyes seeing her mother fluttering her eyelids moving a bit. Lillian let go of her mother's hand and ran out of the room to her brother's. "Daddy mommy's waking up."

Dorian dropped the blanket and hurried to the room Flora was occupying.

"I'm here, my love."

Flora scrunched her brows in confusion then tried to sit up. Once she did she groaned trying to touch the back of her bed only to find it bandaged. Dorian gently laid her back holding her hand. "Shhh, just rest sugarplum."

Flora looked at Dorian as he looked at her concerned. "What happened? I don't remember how I got here."

Dorian rubbed her hand. "You were hit on the back of the head with a rock and knocked unconscious."

"Wha-who would do such a thing?"

"Well...Lillian was very upset with you. She threw it with such force." He said shaking his head.

"Oh Dorian," Flora sat up and tried moving the blankets to get up but was stopped.

"No, you need to rest. That means no overexerting yourself."

"I'm simply trying to stand."

"Yeah, but...it's not just you anymore." Flora looked at him in confusion until he put his hand on her stomach. Her eyes followed his hand and she just stared.

"Dorian, how am I going to get through this?"

"We'll go through this just like last time."

"But...what if my body can't take it?"

Dorian sat on the bed holding her. "Babies are blessings. They may be scary to think about especially a mother who's had a bad experience before but we've created something beautiful. I'm going to be here every step of the way."

"I don't think I can bear to lose any of them." She said with a teardrop falling. Dorian kissed her cheek then played with her hair.

"We're going to be alright." He placed his hand over her stomach cradling her to his body. "I'm going to take care of you all."
