《The Secrets of The Reverence Pack》Chapter 61: Building a Home

"I still don't see why we need such a big house," Alex yelled down the echoing halls. It had been six months since the Reverence Pack had gained new leadership. And, while Geo was enjoying his new role, it had been a crazy six months.
All of the planning in the world couldn't have prepared them all for the chaos that was to come. Along with new laws that were put in place, they also had to finish building the extensions to the pack house as quickly as possible. Which meant that he was helping his uncle build, while also getting used to owning that roofing business his mother left him. She never really liked owning that business anyway.
It took forever to get everything all figured out, but they had. With the people from the Mercy Waters group being allowed back home, they had a surplus of people that were wanting to move back into their homes. There were some that wanted to move out and into the city, though. Shiro allowed them to, which was something that Sakdah never did. Geo didn't really know why he forced them to all live in the pack house, but he was sure glad that it was over with now.
"Because!" he yelled back at Alex. It was moving day for them. After trying to figure out where they wanted to live in the city, they figured that it would be a great idea to just have their home be near downtown. That way they were smack dab in the middle of the city and neither would have to travel farther to their packs if they needed to.
He was not thinking that he was going to be buying a house so soon in life. He never thought that he would be at all. They had all lived in that tiny little pack house for so long that a part of him just assumed that he would be living there forever. He was also the Beta of the pack, which usually meant that he did have to live in the pack house, no matter what pack he was in.
He was just glad that he had a whole family that worked with houses. His uncle actually bought this house for him. He didn't want to accept it. It was a pretty big house, but he had his eyes on it for a while and he liked it. It wasn't the prettiest, and it needed some work done. But he liked working on houses, and it still looked like it was worth it.
"Because why?!" Alex yelled from across the house again. Geo couldn't help but shake his head and laugh. He would never get it.
"Can you shut up and help me move these things?" Blake's voice bellowed through the empty house. They had gotten a lot of people to help them move. With Alex's sisters, who had practically adopted him into their family on the spot, along with all of their friends and Geo's uncle, there was no issue in getting everything in the house.
"What?" he heard Alex say. "The cowboy can't handle a few boxes?"
Geo walked out there as soon as he was done putting the boxes that he had down. It wasn't like they both had a ton of stuff. It was more things that their family and friends had gifted them once they found out that they were getting a home. It all felt so strange, but in a good way.
Even Shiro and Jett were there to help. Shiro had actually bought a lot of the furniture that they were getting. It was nice of him, but Geo still felt guilty for getting all of this from them. He was still working on keeping the business running, so he hadn't really had time to do much shopping when it came to this.

One thing he was happy about though was Tammy. She had practically lunged at him when she heard that he got the business. She was always great with paperwork and had been dying to find a job that wasn't the boring retail one that she was stuck with after high school. So, Geo tested her skills for it by letting her work just a little bit. After she proved that she could do it, he gave her the role that his mom had. Usually, they give this kind of job to family, but there wasn't really anyone else who was willing to take the offer.
And Tammy's bossy nature was perfect for keeping the workers in line.
"I still don't see why we have to get such a big house," Alex wrapped his arms around him before he could even figure out where he was. He sighed into his shoulder as soon as he could. He was such a clingy mate. It was adorable.
"Why is it such a big deal?" he laughed, leaning into him. They had both been working their asses off the whole time that Geo had gained his role. It was always a good thing to keep busy, and he wasn't exactly strapped for cash anymore, but it made it hard to find time for each other. He was hoping that it would get better now that they were going to be living together.
"Don't you think it's too much for two people?" Alex asked. "I still think it would have been better to just get an apartment."
"And give someone else money?" Geo shook his head and moved out of his hold. There were too many things to move in for them to just be standing around. "This one's perfect. My family's great at repairing anything that needs to be fixed, and we have room to grow," he shuffled the coffee table to the right position and smiled. "Besides, houses are the best gift you can give your kids."
"Kids?"
Oh shit. He wasn't supposed to say that. It wasn't like he was thinking about doing that right then. They hadn't even officially gotten settled in and Geo hadn't gotten everything figured out with the business. He was just...thinking about what might happen.
"You guys are definitely adopting!" one of Alex's sisters walked in with a box in her hands. "I want little nieces and nephews!"
"Me too!" his uncle's voice came from outside.
Oh man. This was going to be so embarrassing. Geo didn't even want to look at Alex's face. He was too afraid that he would be mad at him for even saying that. He wouldn't be able to explain it as well as he could in his head. The brain could do so much, but it couldn't translate thoughts into proper words for some annoying reason.
Geo could slap himself right then. They hadn't even officially moved in together and he was already talking about kids. He was the worst at this.
Okay. This could all blow over quietly if he just somehow made it to the other room and acted like nothing happened. He could totally do that. Then, hopefully, if he prayed hard enough, Alex would forget about him even saying anything and they would just go on normally in life.
"Where do you think your going?" Alex caught him before he could get too far into the other room. He loved the way he was holding him, but he was still really worried about this situation as a whole.

"Just unpacking some things," he said.
"You can't lie to me anymore," Alex started kissing the mark that he left on him. "Why are you nervous, Puppy?"
"I'm not," he barely got out the words as he started to melt into his hold.
"Do you really think I wouldn't want kids?" he mind linked with him. Geo pulled away to look at those bright blue eyes. They showed nothing but happiness and love.
"I was just thinking about what might happen in the future," Geo told him. "That's why I wanted a big house."
It felt awkward to talk to him about that. He hadn't really told anyone that he had wanted kids. He kind of thought that he would just get them eventually when he had found his mate and settled down with him. With all the chaos that had come from the last summer, everyone was talking about nothing but babies and having kids, it kind of made him start to think about it more.
"You're cute when you get nervous about this stuff," Alex laughed and pulled him right back into another hug. "We should adopt, though."
"You really want to?" Geo asked. "Or are you just trying to make me feel better?"
"I really want to, Puppy," Alex kissed the top of his head. "Besides, what's the point of having this big of a house if it isn't going to have the sounds of kids running up the stairs?"
Geo laughed. He liked that thought, as well as the promise that it had behind it. It would be nice to help someone who was in a situation like his to be a better person. There were too many cases of kids who were abused, even werewolves.
"Knew it!" Blake yelled from the doorway that they were near. "Manny! You owe me twenty!"
"There's no way he got whipped that quickly!" Manny's voice was a little muffled as he whined. "They just got this house!"
"You guys bet on this?" Alex raised an eyebrow at them. "Seriously?"
"Jett did too!" Manny yelled.
"Hey!"
"Did you decide to bring my whole family into this while you were at it?" Alex frowned. Geo didn't really like that they tended to do this, but he couldn't complain too much. It wasn't like it was that bad of a bet. He probably would have joined in on the fun if he were on the other side of the situation.
"Oh, he didn't bet with us," Blake and all of them finally came in. Shiro came in with one of the delicate boxes that he had. It was of a bunch of China dishes that he had inherited from his grandmother. She loved collecting them.
"Who'd he bet with?" Alex asked. Geo was too busy taking apart the boxes so he could put some of the things he got away. He was just glad that he wasn't going to get into a fight about whether they should have kids or not. He really didn't like fights, even though he had them a lot when he was younger. There was just something about when his parents left him on his own after Shiro became Alpha that just made him not want to anymore. He'd much rather resolve any conflict as quickly as possible.
"Don't you dare tell him," Jett slitted his eyes at Blake who was acting like a kid trying so hard not to laugh when a teacher told them to all be quiet.
"What do you mean, don't tell me?!" Alex whined to his friend. Now Geo was getting suspicious of this. Jett always tells Alex just about everything. There were a few private things they keep to themselves, at least, he hoped, but for the most part they were just like Geo and Shiro.
"Quit messing with him, Jett," Shiro rolled his eyes. He had been working hard the past six months, but it was nothing compared to what he was doing before he even turned eighteen. If anything, he looked much more relaxed now that he was Alpha rather than the other way around. He always seemed to have a glow about him.
"I'm on Shiro's side for once," Alex crossed his arms. "Quit messing with me and just tell me who it is!"
Geo had to look up from what he was doing to see Jett's reaction. He didn't look upset or anything. He looked more annoyed as he looked at Shiro. Then, he sighed and pulled out his wallet. Shiro looked at him with a grin as he held out his hand to take the money from him.
"Wait," Geo got Shiro's attention. "You made a bet with him about whether or not we'd want kids?!"
"I knew you would," Shiro shrugged, putting the twenty into his pocket. "And, I figured that Alex would probably want some eventually."
"Yeah," Jett said. "Eventually. Not right when they moved in together."
Geo was just shocked. Shiro never made bets. He never did something like that unless he knew for certain that he was going to make the right decision.
"Okay," Alex laughed. "I'm alright with this only because of Geo's reaction."
Geo gave them all an annoyed look as they all started talking about the one thing that just blurted out of his mouth. He just took that as time to go to another room and unpack, though. There was nothing he could say that would help the situation anyway.
"But which pack would they wind up going to?" Manny asked. "Reverence or Valor?"
That...was a good question. Geo hadn't exactly thought about that. Of course, this was all from him blurting out that a house was a great gift for your kids. He hadn't really been thinking of all the other technicalities.
"Easy," Shiro answered him. "The child would decide when they got old enough. It's not like our packs are enemies or anything of the sort. Even if he decided to be a part of one, he could still visit the other."
How...?
"How much did you think this out?!" he asked Shiro through their mind link. He wasn't even in that room anymore, but he could tell that Alex was just as surprised by his answer.
"I wanted you two to be able to do what you wished without worrying about all the technicalities between the packs," Shiro told him. "With all that we've both been through, it doesn't make sense to make something out of nothing. Besides, when you do adopt, we'd welcome the child with open arms no matter what pack they wound up in."
Geo smiled at that thought. After being raised in the Reverence Pack that was led by Sakdah, it was so strange to see and be apart of the new leadership that was taking place. Everything was peaceful now, and no one had to hide anything from anyone. The curse was lifted off from everyone who had it, which had allowed for a wave of happiness throughout the pack. It was all just so different from how it used to be.
And all of it was because of Shiro and Hiroko, who enforced their new laws of equality and peace. Both of them did well in their roles, even though Hiroko isn't able to fight with the warriors at the moment. Her and Jin are expecting their first child in three more months. They had waited long enough for it, and both of them were as excited as could be.
It was strange to think that there could be so much change in six months. Geo still felt like this was all a dream sometimes. It didn't feel real with all the glee that everyone shared. It reminded him of the Valor Pack when he had lived over there for a time.
"Hey, Geo," Alex popped into the room. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Geo smiled at him. He couldn't believe that he was mated to him still. Their story might not have been as crazy as Shiro and Jett's, but it was still one that they could both laugh about. When he was in high school, dreaming about what his mate would look like, he didn't picture Alex.
A part of him looked at Alex though, and couldn't believe that there was a time when he thought his mate was going to be Jimmy. The omega had been kicked out of the pack for the lies and slander that he had talked about Geo the same day that the celebration took place. He worried about him going out there on his own, but it was something that he had wanted from the very start. Geo didn't wish bad on him. He just hoped that one day he would be able to grow up a little bit. Maybe he would come back and apologize.
Or he could just be wishful thinking again. Maybe it was just all the good in his life now that he wasn't used to. He was only eighteen, yet so much had happened, and so much had been given to him. He still couldn't get over it.
"What are you thinking about?" Alex knelt down next to him by the box that he had opened. "You look like your minds everywhere but here."
"I still just can't believe it," Geo smiled at him.
"That we got a house?"
"Yeah," he laughed. "And that there's no more hiding emotions and no more fear."
"No more arguing about whether you should take off your sweaty shirt or not," Alex continued. "No more yelling about random bullshit."
"No more dealing with a crazy ex," Geo shook his head. "No more people getting injured for no reason."
"Just some weird werewolves in a forest that surrounds a weird city," Alex smiled. "Maybe the occasional hunter or vampire here and there."
"Just to spice things up," Geo laughed again. "It's so weird to not feel so bad anymore."
"I wouldn't have it any other way," Alex kissed him. The passion from it hadn't faded the short time they had been together. They never got bored of each other, even on the days where they both had off and were just hanging out, yelling about who was cheating on which game they were playing. No matter what, the love never left.
And he wouldn't have it any other way.
