《The Secrets of The Reverence Pack》Chapter 21: Loyalty

"Kill them all," Shiro had ordered. "For they have attacked our innocent. And for that, they will pay."
He wasn't going to back down from orders like that.
"Miki," he looked over to her. "Get Tammy to safety. Guard her."
Miki just nodded and ran off. Jin stood next to him, awaiting orders. With Shiro gone, it was up to him to take command. He wasn't scared. He had trained all his life for this moment. That and enemies could always smell fear.
"We need to split up," he told the gamma. "Go to the community center. Tell me if you see anything suspicious there."
"Yes, sir," Jin said before running off. They were in the city, which meant that they couldn't be in their wolf forms. That would make them stick out like sore thumbs. But these hunters had picked the perfect time to try this. Night time was the Reverence Pack's strong point. And the shadows were always on their side.
"Where are they going?" Alex asked. He had caught up with them around the same time that Jett had left with Shiro. He was happy to see the man being serious for once. He actually seemed like he was second in command of a pack.
"Splitting up," Geo said. "Reverence warriors may be small, but we have numbers."
And that's what would help them this time around, just like it did the last time they came. Only, the last time they were able to catch them before they could even shoot a bullet. Now they had to deal with the human police attempting to nab these hunters for disrupting the peace.
"Alex!" they both turned around to see another warrior running up to them. He smelt of the Noble Pack. Geo hated to think about them being victims of these hunters again. He wouldn't wish this fate on even his worst enemies.
"Luke," Alex smiled. He had a look in his eye that reminded him of whenever he tried to tease him. "Long time, no see."
Ugh. This guy really did try and jump into everyone's pants. He was already eyeing the dude up. It made Geo's stomach twist.
"No time for that," Luke rolled his eyes. "I just notified the police officers. Some of our warriors are trailing their cars just in case something happens to them."
"They're going to be avoiding them," Geo said, catching the guy's attention. "I'd say the place they're hiding is the worn-down neighborhoods. Those are usually the least lit and the least guarded."
"That's a good idea," Luke nodded. He seemed to catch onto the serious tone that he had. This was no time for fun and games. "What's your rank, warrior?"
"Second Beta," Geo said. "Of the Reverence Pack."
"Haven't seen a Reverence Warrior in a while," he looked pretty surprised. "Nice to meet you. I'm Luke of the Noble Pack."
"Geo," he said. "Unfortunately, we don't have much time to talk." He was already getting reports from some of his lookouts as to where some of them were. It seemed like they were trying to sneak up on them again.
"We should check out those areas you talked about, then," Alex said.
"Not right now," Geo shook his head.
"Why?"
"Because then they'll be expecting us," he told them. "The last thing we need is another ambush like Alpha Jett got caught in."
"They ambushed a lot of the warriors in our territory too," Luke said. "But, if that's where they are, what's your plan on getting them to come out?"

"They're already coming to us," Geo said.
That immediately put both of them on high alert. Geo stretched out his mind link to figure out who was the nearest. Jin hadn't found anything in the downtown area, but he still wasn't sure about that. He told him to stay posted there. He had a feeling that they would show up sooner or later.
He smiled when he realized which of the warriors were the closest to their location.
This was going to blow Alex away.
"They're coming up on your right," the warrior told him. "Are we going with plan A?"
"Yup," Geo told him. "Give them the scare of their life, Teddy."
"What are you smiling about?" Alex looked at him curiously.
Geo didn't have time to respond. It only took a second for a scream to come from the right side. It was in another alleyway. Geo rounded the corner to find Teddy throwing one of them onto their back. They were left unconscious immediately.
The other hunter that was with the first had his gun aimed at him. Before he could pull the trigger, Geo grabbed the rifle and disarmed it. All the bullets fell to the ground as the hunter tried to wrestle him for it. He used that chance to spin him and throw him towards Alex who had just ran over to help. Luke had already snapped the neck of the one that lied unconscious by Teddy. Alex took care of the other one easily.
"Two down," Geo said. "About a bajillion more to go."
"Oh, I don't think there's that many," Teddy shook his head. "Maybe half a bajillion."
"Wait," Alex stopped them. He looked at Teddy with shock. "You're a warrior?!"
"It's nice to see you too, cutey," Teddy winked at him. "I'm not just a good dancer."
"You're named Teddy," Alex counted on his fingers. "You're super short. You basically look like an adorable teddy bear. And you're a warrior?"
"Yup!" Teddy laughed. "Just think of me as the teddy bear that's been in your grandmother's attic for centuries and may or may not be trying to kill you."
"That," Alex pointed at him. "Doesn't make me feel better."
"You really are adorable," Teddy giggled. "It figures though. Geo always goes for the cute ones."
If he had a drink, it would be spat out.
"Teddy," Geo stopped him. "We don't have time for your teasing!"
"Teddy?" Luke finally came up to them. He had been scouting the area to see if there were any more of them. "Is that really you?"
"Lu!" Teddy gasped. "Wow, I haven't seen you since high school!"
Luke grinned. "It looks like you haven't grown an inch since then."
"You two knew each other in high school?" Alex asked.
"Oh yeah," Luke chuckled nervously. "We had some fun for a little bit."
"Oh?" Alex looked at him with nothing but mischief.
"Where's Shiro?" Teddy changed the subject. "No one exactly told me that yet."
"He went with Alpha Jett to get that girl, Ava, to the doctor as fast as possible," Alex told him. "All's going well, apparently."
"Is Shiro okay?" Teddy looked at Geo when he asked.
"Yeah," he lied.
"What really happened, Geo?" Teddy asked. "Alpha Shiro doesn't ever leave us by ourselves."
"He got wounded," Geo told him. Shiro hadn't told him, but he could smell his Alpha's blood from a mile away. "It's up to us to get revenge."

"How badly was he hurt?"
"He got two shots in him," Geo told him. "I don't know how severe it was, though. He left before I could inspect them more."
"And he went to another pack territory?" Teddy flashed him a worried look. "He should be at the packhouse where we can keep him safe while he heals."
"Don't worry. Alpha Jett's going to make sure he heals up fine," Geo assured him. He might have been holding onto faith, but he remembered just how tightly that man held Shiro. Anyone who would look at him the way that Jett does would fight to keep him alive.
Alex gave him a suspicious look for a second. He was really observant, from what Geo saw of him the past few times he had been around the guy. Geo just blew it off though. They had to keep moving if they were going to find the rest of their enemies. Now wasn't time for talk.
The streets were deserted. It wasn't common for a night like this. The first night of the carnival usually meant busy streets and merry people talking and laughing as they walked to different shops that were still open. Now everything was closed. Since they had notified the authorities of the potential danger, they had told everyone to stay indoors and not go outside. It was the best way for them to find these hunters without any harm coming to them.
He stopped in his tracks when he caught wind of the sound of something metal. It ever so gently clicked while he was walking down those streets. And it wasn't the only one.
"Ambush," Geo whispered. The other three heard him and looked all around. This was the one thing that they had been trying to avoid. They were trying their hardest to be stealthy, he could tell. But no one did stealth better than the Reverence Pack.
Alex motioned them all to take shelter on one side of a car. As soon as they did, the gunshots were fired. He was lucky that Teddy was fast, because one almost clipped him on his shoulder. Geo, on the other hand, had been lucky enough to dodge three bullets that had raced by him.
"What are we going to do?!" Luke yelled over the guns firing. There wasn't any means of escaping at that point. Geo had called for Jin, and he wasn't that far. The rest of them were racing over there as fast as they could.
"Stall for reinforcements!" Geo told them. "Call all of your warriors! These have to be their best hunters!"
The first of his warriors to show up was the one he least expected.
"Dad?!"
"Where's Shiro?" he asked immediately. He took on the two right across from them on the other side of the street. It seemed like he had taken them by surprise.
"He took Ava to the Valor Pack's doctor to get medical attention."
"Who?"
Geo sighed. Of course, he wouldn't know of the one omega that stood out in their pack.
"The blonde omega."
"How did she get hurt?" he asked. Geo had used his father's act of surprise to get the high ground. He climbed up a latter on the side of a building to get to the roof.
"They captured her as she was leaving the carnival," he explained. "Shiro, Miki, Jin, and I stopped the ones that had taken her, but I have no idea how many snuck in without us knowing."
"How dishonorable," his father told him. "To leave your warriors to battle without you so that you could take care of a mere omega."
"Didn't you say that every pack member was important?" he was seeing red when he heard his dad say that. He would have never said that to Shiro's face. Geo was half tempted to tell him that Shiro had gotten wounded as well, but that would only raise more questions.
"In a dire situation like this, you need to make decisions for the better of the pack rather than just one person," his father said. Geo took out a hunter that had been positioned on the rooftops. There were probably more of them trying to use the elevation to their advantage. "Shiro should know this."
"I've been handling it without him."
"By walking right into their trap?!" his father berated. "You would have wound up dead if I had not shown up, GyuHyoung!"
He groaned. The last thing he wanted to hear when they were trying to deal with bloodthirsty hunters was the nagging voice of his father in his head.
It seemed like everyone had split up. Geo watched from the rooftops as all the warriors seemed to come out of hiding. There must have been fifty hunters trying to shoot all at once in that area.
Even Alpha Nir was there. He must have run over as soon as he heard that the hunters were in the city again. Geo knew that he wanted revenge for his fallen warriors, but he didn't think the old man would come out to deal with them himself.
A group of Reverence warriors came to his aid on the rooftops. There were more hunters than he thought up there. But they had the darkness on their side. The hunters stood no chance against them.
"Fall back," his father's voice echoed in the minds of all the warriors.
"What?" Geo asked. "Why?" They were winning this battle. As more hunters showed up in the area, more of them were getting killed. And he hadn't gotten a report of an injured warrior of their pack yet. All was going according to plan.
"We've done our part here, GyuHyoung," his father said. "Now it's up to them to finish them off."
"But what about defending the city?" he argued. "Isn't it our duty to-?"
"Enough, GyuHyoung!" his father yelled in his head. "This is an order straight from the Alpha himself. You will no longer ask questions! You will obey your Alpha!"
He didn't want to run from a fight, though. Not one that he knew they could win. They're warriors had outnumbered the other packs that had come, and they used their wits to surprise the hunters. It was not only embarrassing, but absolutely cowardly to leave now and let the rest of the warriors from the other packs to fend for themselves.
But he had to obey his Alpha. If his father really did receive word from him about retreating, then it was best that he did.
He looked towards the other group that was with him on the rooftops. They all looked as conflicted as him. They all knew it wasn't right. If Shiro were there, he could counter his father's orders. He was the General over all of them. He had trained them all to work together to fight off their enemy. That was how it always was.
"Got you now, Alpha!" his head snapped back to the ground to see that Alpha Nir had been caught by one of them. He had his rifle pointed right at him. While other warriors were trying to get to their leader to protect him, Geo knew that they wouldn't be able to get there in time.
Honor. Loyalty. Control.
These were the three words in which every one in the Reverence Pack were raised to live by. They shaped them into the respectful people that they were today. Those words were what helped the warriors focus, and the civilians to be happy.
But it wasn't honorable to let an Alpha die. Even if they weren't in their pack.
Geo remembered the look in Shiro's eyes right before he left.
"Find them," he had told him. "And kill them all."
Geo only listened to one Alpha. And he would stay loyal to him until the bitter end.
In the flash of an eye, he jumped down from the high roof. He had done it plenty of times before for fun when he was working. But this time, he had a purpose. He didn't waste a second to catch himself as soon as his feet hit the ground. Instead, he sprinted towards Alpha Nir. Right before he heard that trigger click, he had jumped on the old werewolf, moving him out of the bullet's range. He swore he felt the silver bullet whiz past his ear.
He wasn't expecting any of his warriors to still be there. But they were. Most of them had followed him from the rooftops. But it was Teddy who had gotten to the hunter who had almost shot Nir. The other warriors were still caught up in fighting the rest of the hunters in the area.
"I thought you were going to follow orders?" Geo asked Teddy. The man looked at him for a second, then shrugged.
"Technically, we're just trying to get out of the fight." He gave him a wink. "Alpha Sakdah can't get mad with us if we aren't able to leave due to the hunters."
"Teddy," he smiled at the man. "I love you."
"Thanks," he smiled back at him. "But I don't think your lover boy would like it very much if he heard you say that to me."
"He's not my lover boy," he argued.
"Thank you," Alpha Nir got up. Geo had tackled him to the ground while he was rushing to get over to him. "You truly saved my life."
"I'm sorry that I had to shove you down," Geo told him. "It was the only way I could get to you the fastest."
"Don't worry about that," Alpha Nir smiled at him. "What's your name, son?"
"I'm afraid we don't have time for formalities," Geo said. "There's still too many enemies ahead."
As much as it was pretty cool to finally have met the Alpha to the Noble Pack, it wasn't exactly under the best circumstances. Perhaps another time he would be able to talk with him. He always heard that he was wise. And the Noble Pack was known for their kindness.
But now really wasn't the time.
"More of them are popping up in the construction zone in east downtown," Jin told him. "I'm going to need back up."
