《Delicate Bond ✔》Chapter 25

After the ball, I looked up information about Violet Degrove so I would at least know what to expect from her.

Surprisingly enough, her reputation isn't favorable, more like the opposite. I would presume she would have some kinda honorable reputation since she is the only daughter of the Marquis Degrove.

At least, now I know why she doesn't have a favorable opinion towards me. She is only one year younger than Kai meaning there were childhood friends. There was an article that announce the possibility of Violet marrying Prince Kai but soon those rumors died since there weren't any pieces of evidence of them even dating.

Since I was searching for information about Violet Degrove I've stumbled into a rabbit hole reading about Prince Kai.

When becoming an adult Prince Kai had an infamous reputation. At one point he was banished from Nauloria Empire. The ban was only temporary, but then Prince Kai decided not to come back to Nauloria Empire and went missing for about twenty-five years until he was found and forced to come back. For the last hundred years, he stabilized his reputation.

Although Prince Kai is now my husband, I still don't know a lot of things about him. Considering the siren's life span six months of courting won't be enough to get to know his entire life story.

At some point, I've started feeling anxious if it's was a good idea for me to marry if I don't know a lot of things about him?

Well, it's too late to think about it since I already completed the blood bond ceremony.

I'm just glad that Kai continues to be a considerate partner.

"Your highness, can I ask you a favor?" Allen, the secretary and assistant of my husband, asked me. After hearing his voice, I was snapped from staring at the book while overthinking my marriage.

"A favor? Let's hear it but I won't promise anything." I said as I cast my eyes on the red-haired male. I closed the book that I wasn't focused on reading and started organizing the book before I put them back on their shelves.

"Lately Prince Kai is in the foul mood be-c." I interrupted Allen from speaking further.

"Isn't it because you've nagged to fill the paperwork during his free time?" I asked him. Lately, Kai's been busy that he couldn't join eating meals with me. He could only eat the meal in his office since his workload increased.

"That's because his workload increased because you had food poisoning when you both went on the business trip in Takino territory." He pointed out. I looked for few seconds at him and then I sighed.

"Fair enough."

Kai wanted me to go on the business trips with him since he wanted me to relax from the assignments and also to spend quality time as the couple, since he would often go on business/diplomatic trips. Then I got terrible food poisoning from the restaurant we were eating and instead of negotiating and doing checks ups, Kai spent taking care of me and investigating the cause of my food poisoning.

"Kai, I will be fine. You shouldn't go to those lengths to investigate the cause of the food poisoning, it's just a simple food poisoning after all." I tried to convince him while I was lying on the bed with a high fever.

"Evelyn, this is the restaurant that claims that they serve the best food in Takino territory. If they serve the best food, then they shouldn't be able to give food poisoning to the werewolf." Kai pointed out. Werewolves aren't susceptible to the diseases like humans and sirens but for me to get food poisoning raises suspicions about the restaurant's hygiene.

One might think that someone purposefully put wolfbane in my food. Though I would doubt someone would try to kill me with wolfsbane, since when I first ate the food, I noticed that the food was suspiciously greasy.

Then Kai received a report that the restaurant had broken a lot of hygiene regulations.

After that, Kai made sure the owners of the restaurant get severely punished since they poisoned a royal.

"I'll try to talk to talk to him but I can't promise you the results." How does one quell the mood swings of the siren?

Although it's scientifically proven that siren's mood gets better if they are around their significant other.

As soon as I finished putting books back on the shelves in the library, I went in front of Kai's office door.

I gently knocked on his, then I entered his office.

"I see you are very busy. Perhaps you won't mind keeping you a company?" I asked with a smile while I looked at the stack of papers sitting on his desk.

"I will be glad if you keep me company." Kai lightly answered. I detected nothing that would hint that Kai was in the foul mood. Maybe his mood already lightened up once I was here?

His office was spacious and was also cozy. His office is also has a library on its own.

As I looked around, I noticed the photo albums.

"Is that a photo album? Can I take a look?" I asked him. I would be interested to know more about Kai's past.

Since Nauloria Empire was advanced even two hundred years ago. Kai was born at exactly the time when black and white photos started appearing.

Most of his albums are filled with black and white photos. Of course, once photography was invented, the Emperor and Empress didn't miss the chance to have their picture taken.

The photo that particularly caught my attention is that in family photos, Kai as a child had long hair.

"You had long hair?" I curiously asked. I never imagined Kai to have long hair and Kai chuckled.

"It was popular back then, but I don't think I've had a choice," Kai explained, and I nodded.

Nonetheless, it was interesting to see how fashion changed over the years in Nauloria.

There were photos when he was a child, then photos of when he started military training. There are also photos when he was traveling in the human world. He even took part in human wars. Some of them he was on the winner's side in other wars and some wars he was on the losing side judging by the uniforms he wore.

Then I noticed there were photos when he was traveling in Japan and would often take pictures with the same woman. A human woman, as far I can tell that she was a geisha or she was something similar, but because there was a picture of her dancing at the stage, I can only presume that she was a geisha.

I decided not to ask about that woman because she could have been his human friend he didn't want to forget.

After I looked at the photo albums, I can conclude that he was adventurous.

I quietly put back the photo albums on the shelf and I looked at the Kai who was still diligently filling in the forms.

"Do you need help? I can organize the papers?" I offered my help.

Kai thought for a minute before giving me the stack of papers.

"As the princess, one of your duties is to take care of our Glass home residence. Perhaps you can try creating a budget for the Autumn. "Kai offered. I looked at the empty blanks of the papers and also the reference papers.

In the reference, it's included what kind of maintenance should be completed in the Autumn and how much we needed to spend from the household budget. If there is a party scheduled, then the budget would have to be added.

"Do we have events planned in Autumn? "I asked Kai.

"Hmm, have you forgotten my dear?" Kai asked, hinting that I should know the events.

"Oh, isn't your birthday in Autumn?" Kai's birthday is at the beginning of November. His birthday was a few days after he proposed to me, but unfortunately back then I didn't know since he didn't reveal the information.

"True, but that's not it," Kai told me. I was confused, since I didn't know what kind of event Kai is thinking of. Kai chuckled at my expression.

"In Autumn it's will anniversary of the day when we first met." My face instantly turned to surprise.

I can't believe that a year had almost passed. The day when I stood in front of the packhouse waiting for Kai to arrive. Then I remembered how he kissed my hand once we introduced ourselves and at night I couldn't get rid of thoughts about him.

"But it's not a wedding anniversary, would it's still required for us to hold a party?" Then Kai's expression turned dramatically sad.

"The day when we first met doesn't have any meaning to you, dear?" Kai asked in a teasing yet disappointed tone.

"It has a special meaning but I would prefer to be celebrated privately, like having dinner in the restaurant or just a romantic dinner date at home" I offered to Kai. Lately, I've been enjoying having dinner dates with Kai, even the time when I got food poisoning. I guess dinner dates are my love language.

Kai thought for a few minutes before answering.

"Your ideas are always wonderful, my beloved. A romantic dinner is way better than holding a party." Kai agreed with my idea.
