"Thank you so much brother."I said while hugging Kobi as we stood outside of his car.
"Of course."he said while hugging me back and we got into the car.
"Kobi."I said while looking out of the window as he was driving to Chick-fil-A.
"Ye— wait before you tell me anything else, how the fuck did you get arrested?"
"Scarr left his fucking gun in my glove compartment."
He didn't say anything so I could tell that he was mad.
There was silence between us before I called his name again.
"Kobi."
"Yeah?"
"I'm pregnant."I simply said and he hit the brakes.
"You what?"
"I'm pregnant."
"How you know?"
"What you mean how I know? I took a test."
"You took one test?"
"No I took many test like a month ago."
"So you knew for a month and didn't tell me?"
"Granny just found out too."I said and he shook his head.
"Damn, you tell Scarr?"
"Mhm."I hummed while rolling my eyes.
"That nigga ain't said a word and since I'm yo brother ima be honest, you stupid."he said while pulling up into the drive-thru.
"I'm stupid? How!?"I looked at him and said.
"You gone take a charge for that nigga?"
"Who the fuck told you that!?"
"Why you ain't speak?"
"Kobi I don't know. If I wasn't pregnant maybe I would've spoke, maybe not."
"What you mean you would've!?"
"Yeah because why not!? He killed a nigga for me!"
"So y— Mmcht man you dumb as fuck."
"Okay you can get out of the driveway. I can just go inside to get my food and have somebody else come pick me up 'cause you not finna keep calling me dumb and shit."I said while grabbing my phone and trynna pull on the door but he had it locked.

I was so mad that I didn't even realize I could lock the door alone.
"You might as well chill out 'cause you ain't got no fucking money and ya phone dead."he said and I thought about it.
I went ahead and stayed inside.
"Just take me to pick up my car."I said before I ordered my food.
I got out of my car and walked into my lawyer's office with Scarr following behind me.
I asked him to be here because my lawyer was going to explain some shit to us that we both needed to hear.
"Good evening Ms. Stone and..."he said while leading us to his office.
"Mr. Woods."I said since Scarr obviously couldn't talk.
"Have a seat, would you all like anything to drink?"
"No thank you."I said and when I looked over at Scarr he just shook his head no.
Wanna be deaf ass.
"Alright looks like you all are ready to get started so ima get right to it. Look the DA's ain't budging on those charges. It's election season and every politician is trying to do their best to boost their image by getting criminals off of the street."
"But I'm not a criminal."I said while looking at him.
"Well the gun in your car says otherwise."
"What are my other options?"
"Well you can talk to the detectives assigned to your case and let 'em know that the gun doesn't belong to you, it belongs to Mr. Woods. Or you can admit to the gun belonging to you and take the plea."
"A plea!?"
"Look Kodi this is your first defense, the judge is gone give you a slap on the wrist. Now I can get you a one year sentence in a nice comfortable low security facility. And a one year sentence with good behavior, you'll be out in what six months."

"Six months!?"I semi yelled while looking at Scarr.
"You know with Mr. Wood's prior convictions and lengthy criminal record he's already looking at a minimum of fifteen to twenty years."
"You ain't got none to say?"I asked Scarr.
"Ion know man, we gone have to talk about this shit."he said.
"Well I'll give you all until tomorrow, have a nice night and be careful. We'll meet back here tomorrow at the same time to discuss your decision."he said and we got up before walking out.
As I was walking to my car I felt Scarr walking behind me.
Scarr grabbed my arm since I was walking too fast.
"Listen man I apologize for leaving my gun in yo car, if I would've known that it was still in there I would've gotten it out long time ago."
I nodded my head while looking at my car.
"So what now?"I said while looking at him.
"You gone take the plea?"he smirked at me and I mugged him.
"Hell nah I ain't taking no fucking plea, what you gone do!?"
"I ain't trippin' do what you gotta do. How my baby doin'?"
"Now you care."I straight faced him.
"I been cared, come here and let me show you some."he said and I hesitated before following him to his car.
He popped the trunk revealing plenty boxes of diapers and wipes.
"I ain't forget."I curled my lips while looking off somewhere else.
"Forget what!?"he mugged.
"Yvette still pregnant."
"What the fuck you trynna sa— man Kodi quit playing with me."he grabbed my shirt and I chuckled.
"Okay."I said while pushing him and he let me go.
"Thank you anyways."I added on.
He started staring at me and I rolled my eyes.
"Okay I'm finna go."
"Aight."
"Don't forget we gotta meet here tomorrow again to discuss this shit before it's too late and I get locked up."I said and he nodded.
"I got you."he said and I nodded before walking away.
I went to my car and got inside before pulling off and heading home.
Even though Scarr already gave me the green light to go ahead and snitch on him, that isn't something that I want to do.
If I do that then this means that our child and I are gonna have to spend from fifteen to maybe twenty years without Scarr.
It's not happening, so I just might have to do these six months pregnant and all.

Hawkin. Bronze Ranked Brewer.
07/11/2022 Update: We're currently at the end of the 7th arc, out of 10. My plan is to continue to publish a chapter at least 4-5x a week for the next few months. Synopsis: Hawkin found his place in the world, far from humans and monsters. He abandoned the adventuring life long ago and left civilization, opting for peace and isolation instead. After ten years out in the northern forests, he befriends a strange creature and his life changes. A traveling trio of monks then show up in Hawkin's woods and share with him the best beer he's ever had. After that beer, Hawkin wants to do nothing but accept the brewer's path and brew. This story is intended to be slow and easy. It involves a slow progression of power and brewing more powerful beers. There is occasional conflict. Thanks for reading, and I really hope this story relieves a bit of stress from your days. Note: I'm behind on Audio, but I hope to catch up soon. Linked Audio is always free. Stairway to Heaven
Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings, far too weak to survive amid the other extraterrestrials that lie dormant across the galaxies. Instead of physical altercations, they would rather engage in verbal abuse, breaking an individual's psyche as a hobby. They excel at deception and manipulation, far too interested in bringing their brothers and sisters down and reaching for the top of their self-made hierarchies. Beyond their questionable nature and moral compasses, they long to find meaning in their lives and put names to the feelings that drive each passing moment. They are insatiable—far too greedy for more knowledge and a supposed understanding of their lives. It's pitiable, really, the way they struggle to find themselves while ravaging their kind through petty wars and conflicts built off of misunderstanding. Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings. They created words and languages to fill the holes that lived inside their souls, desperate for ways to find meaning in their incredibly short lifespans. They'll waste their entire lives trying to find their so-called passions and reasons for living, acting as if they truly rule the way their lives go, supposed "controllers of their own destiny." Yet, they cannot evade the inevitable visit from death, who stands next to them, ticking the seconds down until their demise.
