KNOCK KNOCK

Emmelyn was moved from her reverie when the door was knocked twice, then opened. Entered three maids with a stack of girl's clothing and other necessities, followed by two male servants with buckets of water.

Wait...

She turned her head to the left and saw the beautiful bathtub. Ah... will they get her bath ready for her? For real?

Suddenly she felt her head itchy. She badly needed to wash her hair. It's also been an awfully long time since she had a proper bath. She could only wash up properly three days ago in the river when she had the chance. How she missed her bathtub at home back in Wintermere!

"My lady... Prince Mars asked us to serve you and get you ready to meet him at the dining room to have breakfast together," said one of the maids with respect. "His Highness had something to say to you. It's important that you prepare yourself."

Emmelyn couldn't believe her own hearing.

So... she was caught so that she could get herself ready and meet the devil for breakfast together. This was so weird. Why would the prince eat together with his attempted killer?

This whole thing was so confusing. However, she really missed her bath. She had no choice but say yes.

Maybe her luck changed. Not only was she not killed for the attempted assassination, now she also got to take a warm bath and eat good food for breakfast.

Well... she better enjoyed it and listened to what the devil had to say.

The relaxing bath didn't last as long as Emmelyn would have wanted it, but still, it was good enough. She felt so relaxed and her mood improved. Now, she was ready for anything.

The two maids helped her get dressed and combed her hair. Finally, they hung a small pouch with scented herbs on her waist. Now, Emmelyn felt like herself again. She was smelling like blooming roses.

[This is really nice. But if the devil is really gay, why did he ask the maids to dress me up like a girl? How confusing!]

Emmelyn didn't know what to think anymore.

"Please follow me, My Lady. I will take you to the dining room," said one of her maids while bowing down her head. Emmelyn felt hungry, so she welcomed the invitation to have a good meal.

Yes, she was at the enemy's den, but that didn't mean she would act foolishly and refused good food. She would need her energy to get her revenge anyway.

She walked gracefully, following the maid with two castle guards walking by her sides. It looked like they intentionally kept this position to ensure Emmelyn wouldn't run away.

[I'm not that dumb to run away in broad daylight, with an empty stomach.]

They passed a really long corridor after they went down the stairs from the top of the tower. Emmelyn was already familiar with this castle and knew where they were taking her. The devil had his personal space where he would enjoy dinner alone, overlooking the beautiful pond filled with water lilies.

This castle was given by his father, the king, for him to manage after he turned 20. This was where he ran his household of staff and army. The royal palace was located around 3 kilometers away from here.

The devil sometimes would hold feasts and meetings with some government officials, nobles, or landlords from around the area and they would use the big hall in the main building. However, for his personal time, he preferred to use this quarter on the east part of the castle.

Usually, no women were allowed in this area, else they would be executed, so it was no surprise that the maid stopped by the doorway and motioned Emmelyn to enter on her own. It looked like she was the first or only woman being allowed in this quarter after gods know how many years.

Emmelyn stepped inside after the two castle guards stared at her as if telling her to enter without a sound. She finally relented.

With graceful steps, she walked inside to find the devil was sitting leisurely on his favorite chair while looking at the swans playing with water lilies in the pond outside.

"Good morning," Emmelyn was very interested in finding out what the devil had in plan for her. In the meantime, she wouldn't provoke him and would act politely.

The man with long silver hair turned around to face her when he heard Emmelyn's voice. He wore casual clothes this morning, but it looked so good on him and for a moment, Emmelyn was in a daze.

At the same time, the devil was astounded to see the little slave that tried to kill him last night had transformed into a really beautiful and elegant girl.

Were they even the same person? He furrowed his brows.

Emmelyn had long wavy brown hair, that fell down to her waist gracefully. Her face was petite with fresh skin and healthy blushing cheeks. Her eyes were big like a doe's with brilliant blue color, which made them look like sapphires. Her full red lips were so kissable that the devil subconsciously gulped.

Suddenly he felt so hungry. However, it wasn't food that he was craving.
