《For The Sake Of》CHAPTER 8: Mr & Mrs Madison

The next morning, the moment I got ready for office, there was a knock on my door.

As I opened the door, Isaac stood there all dressed up, scrolling through his phone.

He looked up and said, "We can't go to office, seperately. I don't want to give the paparazzi a new topic to talk about."

"So you are coming with me", he added.

I pressed my lips in a thin line, thinking about going with him.

Well, he is right...we are supposed to act like couples.

"Fine", I huffed and went past him and walked downstairs for breakfast.

I greeted Cynthia and sat on the table while she served me croissant and a steaming cup of coffee.

After having our breakfast, I followed Isaac outside to where his car was parked.

He went towards his black Lamborghini that was already parked outside the garage but on seeing that, I scowled.

"What?", he asked upon seeing the scowl on my face.

"I don't like Lamborghini, I won't go in that. Take out some other car."

He didn't acknowledge my dislike for that car and proceeded to get in the driver seat when I said again, "Fine. I'll go on my own."

If looks could kill, I would be dead by now.

Giving me a deathly glare, he got out of that car and slammed it's door shut.

He went inside the garage and a minute later he took out his BMW I8. I expected it to be either black or white in colour but it was freaking metallic turquoise in colour. I literally died at the site of it.

Anyway I sat in the passenger's seat as Isaac drove.

Fifteen minutes later of complete silence, the car stopped at a red light.

From the corner of my eyes, I watched him take out a cigarette from his pocket and as he was about to light it, I immediately snatched it from him.

He was a bit startled at first but then he became angry, very angry.

"Even I am sitting in the car and its smoke can harm me, Mr. Grayson", I explained my actions before he could ask me.

He tried his best to not tear me up as he took a deep breath and then once again he took out something from his pocket, not just a single cigarette but the whole box.

I leaned towards him, trying to snatch that too but his grip tightened around the box.

"The light has turned green", I said to him causing him to turn his attention back on the road. His grip loosened on the box and I took that opportunity to snatch that away.

"What the hell are you doing?!", he bellowed.

But I only laughed, saying, "I win!"

He raised a brow at me,"How old are you? Five?"

I stuck my tongue out to him before turning towards the window while he cursed under his breath.

"...and this is your office", Josh said as we reached my new office after giving me the tour of the floor.

Josh made sure that this office was similar to the office I had in my building. Everything was almost same except there was a connecting door between Isaac's and my office.

It's been a month since we got married and nothing had changed. Every morning I come to office with Isaac in a complete silence except sometimes when I ask him a few questions related to work. Nothing else changed.

"Come in", I said as someone knocked on my door and as expected, Josh walked in.

"What?", I asked him when he didn't say anything, as he stood there nervously.

"S-someone is down at the reception...to meet you."

"That 'someone' must have a name, Josh."

"Harry and Sophia...Madison", he finally answered making me freeze.

Harry and Sophia Madison.

Can't they leave me alone, they keep bothering me every few months!

"You know what to do, Josh."

"But Thera...", I cut him off, "No buts Josh, send them away. I don't want to meet them."

"At least they are trying Thera", Josh tried making me understand but when it comes to them, I don't give a damn!

"I said 'no'."

"Thera...at least give them a chance", he pleaded.

"I don't understand why are you taking their side, you are my best friend and my assistant."

"Because, you have such a beautiful heart, you can even forgive someone who tries to murder you but you are not willing to at least give them a chance, why don't you understand?"

"Why don't you understand, Mr. Oliver?! I don't want to meet them and that's final!"

"They came here all the way from San Francisco spending money and you can't just send them away like that", the part where money was concerned completely pissed me off.

"If their concern is about their money getting wasted then give them the money for the tickets. Don't say again that their money is getting wasted by me!"

"And anyway that time is about to end in a few months, you will have to meet them anyway", Josh spoke.

"So, why don't they understand that when I gave them a specific time, why don't they stick to it. Why do they keep disturbing me?!"

"What's all this commotion about?!", a voice boomed and we both turned towards Isaac who stood at the door connecting both the offices.

I sighed heavily and said to Josh, "Go, Josh."

Giving me one last disappointing look, he went away and I continued with my work.

"You can leave, Isaac unless you also want to argue with me."

"You are coming with me to a restaurant for lunch today", he spoke and as I was not in the mood of arguing anymore, I said, "Okay."

At lunch, I decided to tell Josh before going out with Isaac.

I walked upto his desk, scrolling through my phone and said, "I am going..."

I stopped abruptly when I lifted my head and saw that his desk was empty.

He never leaves so early for lunch.

I called him but he didn't pick up my call so, I decided to check for him in the cafeteria on the ground floor.

I scanned the cafeteria looking for him and my eyes finally fell on him.

He was sitting on a table but not alone.

With him, there sat Mr and Mrs Madison with their backs towards me.

I told Josh to tell them to go away instead he was sitting here and having lunch with them.

Good job, Joshia Oliver.

As if he sensed my presence and his eyes met mine, and they widened in shock. He never expected me to find him having lunch with them.

Before he could say or do anything, I left.

I quickly went out of the building, towards Isaac's car that was already parked outside and I sat inside.

"You have to eat the food, not play with it", Isaac commented on seeing me poking the fried chicken breast with the fork, on my plate.

I didn't say anything and continued poking it, I expected him to get angry by it but he said rather calmly, "Whom are you planning to murder tonight?"

I looked up at him, "What?"

"You are poking the chicken as if you want to stab someone really badly", he said amusingly and a tiniest of smile graced his lips.

I shook my head slightly and finally cut a piece of the chicken and stuffed my mouth with it.

Isaac leaned across the table and whispered, "I am free tonight, I can help you murder that person."

Swallowing the chicken, I said, "Shut up. I am not murdering someone...I am just angry with Josh."

"And you know you look like a gang leader, I always thought about it. The way you blackmail people, the way you can make people disappear...", I added.

He smirked leaning back, "You think I'm a gangleader? Seriously?"

"You do act like one."

He mocked back, "Just the way you act like a child?"

I scoffed and resumed eating and after a few seconds of feeling his gaze on me, he also resumed eating.

For the first time ever, we didn't argue, I mean we didn't have a serious argument.

If he could just be like this, just show me a bit of compassion, I might somehow spend the rest of my life with him, somehow adjust with him but I don't know if he could be like this...

"Do you have a boyfriend?", he asked out of nowhere and did I really hear a hint of jealousy in his tone.

"No."

"Hmm...good", he mumbled to himself but I heard it.

"What about you and your girlfriend?"

"I don't have any girlfriend."

I let out a chuckle, saying, "Very funny."

"I am serious."

"So, what about that blonde that come out of your office with her lipsticks smudged and all", I explained what I saw that day in his office.

"Oh, that...she was just a one night stand, nothing else. I don't do relationships, it's not my thing", there was something about the way he said those last words, some grief was hidden in it. Those words had a deeper meaning.

And I am too stubborn to just forget about Serah. I want to know about it, I want to know everything.
