《We Weren't Acting》Chapter 2 - The DM

Today's the day.

I've been nervously waiting for today to come.

Today starts the day where I meet the people I'll be working with for the next two months.

This week we won't be filming the actual movie, we're just going to practice and get to know one another.

Emma also told me the director Liam Roy wants to see how much chemistry me and Christian have.

Chemistry and Christian in one sentence don't sit too well with me.

Christian surprised me last night when I was about to go to bed with a DM on Instagram. I nearly freaked out when I saw his name pop up on my phone.

You would think I was one of his silly teenage fans...Okay maybe I am, but that's a secret that no one will know.

The DM Christian sent me said.

Hey, partner in crime lmao! Get it, because Oliver the character I'm playing is a criminal... anyways that's cringe I apologize. I just wanted to say that I can't wait to work with the one and only Lola Wilston, you're an amazing actor. I'm going to step up my game while acting beside you.

Am I flattered?

Yes, I'm swooning with joy, how sweet is that message!

I simply replied with a thank you, and that I couldn't wait to work with the Christian Smith.

I put on a pair of black high waisted jeans and a white crop top, grabbed my purse and headed out the door to meet my new coworkers.

"I can't believe Lola Wilston is standing right in front of me!" Said an overly excited girl, with short jet black hair in front of me.

My first impression of her was she was the kind of person that made you feel uncomfortable because she has a lot of energy. Plus I had no idea who she was, but I know I'll probably be working with her.

I gave the girl a polite smile, "It's nice to meet you, and you are?"

"I'm Ruby it's so nice to meet you, I've been a fan of yours for ages! I remember watching you when I was really little, I used to honestly have an obsession over you until people told me it was wired and-"

"It's nice to meet you Ruby" I chuckled, "Your quiet the talker aren't you?"

Ruby tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear and gave me a shy smile. "Yes I am, but you're probably going to get used to it."

"Who are you playing in the movie?" I asked while sitting down on a black leather couch in the break room.

"I'm playing Sophia, your younger sister." She said thrilled.

"You look young, how old are you Ruby?"

"I'm 16."

"Woah good for you!" I said with a big smile, patting her on the back.

That's a huge accomplishment that she's in such a big movie at her age.

"I know you started when you were seven years old, correct?"

"Yes, I was seven and a half-" Before I could finish my sentence I was interpreted by an awkward cough beside me.

I looked up to find a muscular chest in a tight dark blue shirt. I didn't even have to look up to know who was standing beside me on the couch.

Lola, relax, breathe, and don't you dare shake.

I looked up to find a cheeky smile on Christians, beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, marvellous face, Okay sorry I think you get the point.

I quickly got up from the couch and shook his hand with a polite smile, "Hi I'm Lola, it's nice to meet you."

"Hi Lola, I'm Christian, but call me Chris. Christian's too long." He said with a chuckle.

"Will do," I said with an awkward laugh.

"Oh my gosh!" Ruby said with an excited squeal, she jumped up from the couch.

She ran up to both of us and pulled us both to her sides.

Christian sent me a curious glance and smiled down at the girl. "And you are?"

"I'm Ruby, I play Lola's sister in the movie!" She said jumping up and down awkwardly, due to her still having her arms around me and Christian's shoulders.

"It's my pleasure to be in the same movie as you Ruby, you're adorable." He said with a grin and squeezed her shoulder.

A noise that sounded like a squeak and a sneeze came out of Ruby's mouth. She glanced up at me with an awestruck face. "Is he even real, or am I dead?" she whispered to me.

Glancing to Chris with an amused smile, I found him trying to hold in his laughter, but failing miserably.

"I can assure you, you're not dead." he managed to get out, while still laughing.

"I should go before I embarrass myself even more" She whispered to me, and ran away from a laughing Chris.

Once he knew Ruby was gone he turned back to me with a smile.

"So you're the one and only girl I'm going to lip-lock in a lot of scenes with."

"Yes, that will be me," I said, raising my eyebrows in question. "You know this is a romance movie Chris, there are some intimate scenes."

While taking a step closer to where I'm standing in front of him he said, "I'm always up for a challenge Lola."

"Me as well."

"You should know I never back down." He said cockily. "And I never give up." He taunted.

Taking a step closer to him I ask, "I can't help but think you're not the person you proclaim yourself to be with girls?"

Gazing in my eyes, with a small smile he says, "Who says I'm not getting into character right now?"

"Let's be honest, you're not that good of an actor, Smith," I said with a smirk.

Right after I said that Chris started striding to stand inches away from me, "It doesn't look like your acting either now, does it?" He said as his hot, minty breath fanned across my face.

"You're wrong, I am getting into character," I said with a winning smirk. I moved my face closer so that my lips would be a centimetre away from his.

Oh how badly I wanted to press my lips to his soft plump pink lips. If I just a little more, they would brush against one another.

NO! Lola focus on character. You can't let him think you're an easy girl, because you're not. You're a freaking badie, and he better know that.

"And it looks like you're making it easier for me," I said as a whisper, moving away to create some distance between us.

"And that is what we want for this movie!" A voice exclaimed from the open door.

I quickly turn my head to see what face owned that voice that interrupted us.

I was surprised to see Liam Roy, our director.

"What?" Chris asked a little confused, scratching the back of his neck.

I could tell that he was still recovering from our little moment, he looked flush and irritated. Almost like he was mad about the interruption.

It made me wonder if Liam didn't interrupt us what would've happened between us too.

"This, you two! You guys have so much passion you make me feel that I should've never walked into this room right now, You have so much chemistry it's overwhelming!" He said excitedly while waving his hands around in the air with a giant smile.

"I guess we do, but we were just having a conversation," Chris stated raising a brow at Liam.

"You two act like that in the movie, and it will end up being a hit." Liam started chuckling and said, "Maybe I should lock you guys in a room together for a day, It might help even more."

He said laughing hard now while taking a step into the hallway.

"Being stuck in a room with a pretty lady, I would never complain about that Liam."

Looking away blushing I said, "If you excuse me I need to go to the washroom."

As I was walking to the bathroom I kept wondering that maybe I should take Christians threats more seriously.

Stay strong Lola, stay strong.

"Now that we're all here together, let's go over the plot of the movie so we're all on the same page," Liam exclaimed at the front of the conference room, an hour after our embarrassing conversation with Chris.

"Sky is 17 years old, she lives in a small town in Toronto. Her family applies to let a 17-year-old boy named Oliver on probation live with them because he has nowhere else to go. Oliver over the months keeps getting into trouble, and Lola is always getting him out of trouble. Blah blah blah, they end up falling in love. However Sky's family doesn't approve of the relationship, so they try to keep them apart. Sky's family sends Oliver away from her, after they find them in an intimate position on his couch, in their basement. The two are left heartbroken, And of course, they end up finding each other in a few years when Sky attends Oliver's college graduation." Liam explained. "That's just a summary of the plot, I want you all to put in 100% in this movie you understand?"

Murmurs of agreement sounded in the room.

"All of you are excused, I just want the main cast to hang back for a bit, bye everyone," Liam said while checking his watch on his wrist, and giving a respectful nod to the others getting out of their chairs and heading for the door.

Glancing around me, I found Chris sitting across from me and staring right at me. I give him a small smile and a wink, and turn my attention back to Liam.

"Man I love these two already." Our director said with a teasing smile.

"Aw Liam, stop you're gonna make me blush," Chris said with an unamused frown on his face.

"Is Chrisy mad that someone noticed that he already has a crush?" Liam taunted with a grin while sitting in a chair at the head of the table.

"Okay, boy's enough of this child's play," I added with a chuckle and leaned back on my chair and crossed my arms over my chest.

"Right," Liam said, glancing at us with a stern expression on his face. "You two are the heart of the movie, when people are watching Endlessly, we need to be able to feel the passion through the screen. We need to be able to feel the love that you two are portraying, we need to feel the betrayal when you've been ripped apart from each other. So here's your homework."

"Yay homework," Chris mumbled, interrupting Liam.

"Be quiet boy, you're getting paid a lot of money by acting in this movie," Liam said with a strict look on his face.

Chris quickly saluted him with a cheeky smile and said, "Sir yes sir."

Liam groaned while running a hand through his hair, "Now where was I before I was rudely interrupted, right your homework." he said with a snap of his fingers and giving a grin in Chris's direction.

Chris responded with a glare.

"I want you too, to get together and rehearse your lines, build up all that chemistry that the fans are expecting. No pressure but the fans that read the book expect a lot. So don't let them down." Liam said with a nod of his head and quickly got up from his chair.

"See you guys in a couple of days." He said with a small wave of his hands and strode out the door.

Leaving me all alone with Chris again.

"So partner," he said with a misgives smile. "What do you want to practice first? Our lines or the kissing scenes?"
