《One-Eighty || Taekook》Chapter 12

Nervous, that was the only way Taehyung could describe the feeling inside his chest, and the. Brown haired boy tightly grasped the handle of the brown bag he was holding. Today was finally the day of Jungkook's trial. The young lawyer had spent weeks trying to come up with a strategy for his client's case and was pleased with the one he had come up with. If everything went exactly liked planned, Jungkook would be walking out of the doors of the courthouse as a free man today. A smile made. It's way onto the brown haired boy's face, if everything went according to plan he would be without a doubt considered as one of the best lawyers in the country.
The smile on the boy's face quickly faded away however and the nervous feeling inside Taehyung's chest became even worse once he realized he would be sitting next to the most feared inmate of the country in less than an hour. The ravenette had attacked him once before, and the brown haired boy wasn't excited about a situation like that happening again. Jungkook had proven himself to be dangerous and unpredictable, and the young lawyer had clearly underestimated his client their second meeting. Slowly Taehyung shook his head a little, that definitely was a mistake he wouldn't repeat.
As soon as Taehyung came near the courthouse he could already see a lot of interviewers with microphone's and camera's waiting for everyone who was involved in the case. The case had quickly become national news once it was everyone knew Jungkook had been captured, Jungkook's capturing had been hot topic ever since. Everyone was dying to know if Korea's most feared mafia leader would be put on death row.
In the weeks before the trial Taehyung had given multiple interviews about the case, and the brown haired boy had even gotten a compliment from the one and only Jackson Wang about how well he had handled them. By now, it was known around the whole country who Kim Taehyung was, and the big question surrounding his name was of course if he would manage to plead Jungkook somehow innocent, even though all the evidence against the ravenette was overwhelming.
A smile made it's way onto the brown haired boy's face, a sudden rush of confidence filling inside his chest. BamBam and the young lawyer had gone over the whole case multiple times, and by now the pretty brown haired boy's alibi was as solid as a rock. No way the opposite party would see this coming. BamBam was Taehyung's Joker, and he would make sure to use him when the opposite party wouldn't expect it.
Quickly Taehyung made his way towards the big beige building and as soon as the reporters saw him multiple questions were immediately fired his way. "Mister Kim, what is your strategy for Mr Jeon's case?" a woman with short blonde hair asked and a fake smile immediately made it's way onto the brown haired boy's face. Like hell he would give his strategy away, that would be the same as signing Jungkook's death sentence right here, right now. "I'll use the plan me and my client have been through together" the young lawyer lied, and after answering a few other questions about the case he quickly made his way towards the entrance of the big building in front of him. Multiple questions were still fired at him, but the brown haired boy decided to just ignore them. He didn't have a lot of time. A nervous feeling suddenly filled the brown haired boy's chest. Jungkook and him hadn't gone over Taehyung's strategy together, and knowing how unpredictable the mafia boss was the young lawyer could only pray Jungkook would just stay quiet and not say anything which could be used against him.

Once the young lawyer got inside of the courthouse he smiled at the familiar feeling the building gave him. Taehyung had been inside this exact courthouse a lot of times before, even though he had never been here for a case as big as this one. Ever since the brown haired boy had started working at Wang inc. the courthouse had almost became his second home.
The brown haired boy quickly made his way towards the courtroom. He already was a little late, and by now the courtroom would probably already be filled with people. Even though Taehyung still had 30 minutes left before the trial would start, the brown haired boy liked to be very early. That way he got the change to go through his strategy one last time. One last time to make sure everything would go as the young lawyer had planned. One last time to make sure he would win this case.
Once Taehyung walked into the courtroom a feeling of familiarity overwhelmed him. The young lawyer had been standing in this exact courtroom many times before, and even though most of the cases he had been here for were for small innocent things like a parking ticket or shoplifting, the room didn't give of a different feeling now that Taehyung was here for the case of his lifetime. The room made the young lawyer feel safe, something Taehyung was very thankful for.
The room looked like a typical courtroom. The judge was sitting in the front, behind a big wooden desk and the jury would be sitting on the left side of the room on some wooden benches. Taehyung and Jungkook would be sitting in front of the judge on the left side of the room, while the prosecutor would be sitting in front of the judge on the right side of the room. Next to the judge was a small wooden booth in which a witness would be sitting once either Taehyung or the prosecutor decided to call one to the front. Audience watching the trial would be sitting in the back of the room.
A nervous feeling started to make it's way into Taehyung's chest once again while he thought of who the prosecutor of this case would be. Choi Youngjae was know by many lawyers as fierce and hard to beat and the thought of having to go up against someone like him was terrifying to Taehyung. This man was surely going to be a pain in the ass for the young lawyer, of course they would put someone like him on a case like this. The man the young lawyer is defending is being accused of numerous horrible things. Of course they wouldn't assign someone to this case who would be easy to defeat.
Slowly the young lawyer shook his head to get rid of the negative thoughts in his mind and walked a bit further into the courtroom. Once the brown haired boy looked around him he noticed a lot of people already sitting down in the audience seats and the boy decided to quickly make his way down. The sooner he would be able to go through his plan again the better. Once Taehyung looked around however he immediately spotted a few familiar faces.

The first person the young lawyer locked eyes with was BamBam. The brown haired boy was sitting in the first row on the left side and wore an extremely nervous look on his face. The boy clearly had never been in a courtroom before, and Taehyung guessed that the fact that BamBam had to testify didn't help him at all with his nerves. BamBam nervously smiled at the young lawyer once he noticed him and Taehyung quickly gave him a thumbs up. Without that boy the case would surely be lost, so the young lawyer was glad to see the brown haired hadn't decided to back out last minute.
The second person Taehyung noticed was a pretty man sitting on the right side of the room with a small girl sitting next to him. The man was wearing an expensive looking suit and had a blank expression on his face, and it looked like this person hadn't felt any emotion in a long time. The girl sitting next to him was around four years old and wore a cute pink dress. She was innocently playing with the man's phone while a cute smile decorated her face. The young lawyer swallowed deeply once he recognized the two as Byun Baekhyun and his daughter, Park Chanyeol's family. While the little girl probably didn't understand what was happening here at all, Baekhyun surely did. The rich man had come here for one thing only, seeing the man who had killed the love of his life being sentenced to death.
Quickly Taehyung looked the other way and gripped the handle of the bag he was holding a little tighter. This wasn't the time to think about all the hurt Jungkook had brought upon people, the young lawyer was here for one thing and one thing only. Win this case.
Soon the young lawyer reached the table he would be sitting at together with Jungkook and quickly put down his bag. He quickly opened the zipper of the brown bag he always used for work related stuff and got out a few papers and a pen. Slowly Taehyung gripped the papers he had put in front of him and read through them carefully. This was it, his whole strategy. Quickly the boy started to scan through his papers, completely distancing himself from all his surroundings.
Soon however the doors to the courtroom opened with a loud bang and four officers came inside. All of them were covering one side of the man walking in the middle, who was trapped in between them like a bird trapped inside it's cage. The man was wearing an orange prison suit and metal handcuffs were decorating his wrists and ankles. a ringing sound sounded through the courtroom every step the prisoner made and soon he had reached the table Taehyung was sitting at.
Taehyung looked nervously to his right once Jungkook was placed on the wooden stool beside him. The young prisoner gave of a scary aura and even though there were multiple officers present in the room now that the ravenette had arrived, Taehyung didn't like being this close to the boy. The boy was unpredictable, and the young lawyer didn't like the fact that he couldn't foresee any of the moves the young prison would make. Said boy however didn't even take a glance at his lawyer, the boy slowly started to scan the room he was sitting in, as if he was looking for something and slowly Taehyung narrowed his eyes a bit. What the hell was he looking for?
Slowly Taehyung looked at the boy he was going to defend today. Even though Jungkook was labeled as the biggest mafia boss in the whole country the boy wouldn't be much older than 23. The orange suit the prison had provided him was a bit too big around the boy's waist and the black eye the boy had had last time Taehyung had visited him had turned an painfull yellow color. A sad look formed onto the young lawyer's face, in a way he felt sorry for everything Jungkook gone through. The boy had barely seen anything of what life could bring, yet almost everyone would love to see life being taken away from him already. So young, yet closer to death than ever.
Even though the younger boy had been nothing but a horrible person towards Taehyung, the young lawyer decided to try one last time to tell Jungkook about the strategy he had come up with. The younger didn't have much of choice anyway, considering the fact that his future would be decided in the next couple hours. Slowly Taehyung picked up his papers and put them in front of Jungkook.
"So, I would..." Taehyung started with confidence in his voice, excitement about his plan clearly lacing his voice, but he was quickly cut off by the ravenette sitting next to him. "Shut up fuckface, I'm not in the mood for your bullshit." The prisoner said to his lawyer, annoyance clearly lacing the boy's voice. Slowly Taehyung grew a fake smile on his face and retrieved his papers again.

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)
