《The Fading Sunshine》Chapter 7

**Still Hinata's POV
As I was walking home, I checked my phone to look at my missed messages. Many were from the team since I didn't show up for afternoon practice.
"Wait... OH CRAP... Practice, I completely forgot." I thought to myself. I checked the time, 4:55. Shit, Shit, Shit. I'm gonna be late, my dads gonna kill me. I've been late 3 times in the past two weeks.
I sprinted home as fast as I could, trying to come up with a good excuse for being late again.
I ran up the porch stairs and opened the door and I heard... laughing? I looked in and saw a man that looked about my dads age sitting at our kitchen table from my dad.
"Oh hey Sho! This is my work buddy Koki!"
Dad said with venom in his voice, gesturing towards the man.
"Hello, It's nice to meet you." I said nervously, not taking my eyes off dad.
I saw this as a great opportunity to ask him about the training camp. He wouldn't pull anything while we have company... right?
"Oh dad, while I'm down here. The volleyball club is going to a training camp in Tokyo. Would you mind signing the permission slip?" I said with an anxious smile plastered on my face.
"Why if course you can, when is this camp?"
He asked, staring at me with cold eyes.
"W-we leave on Monday." I said, directing my gaze towards the floor.
"Alright well why don't you go head upstairs and get a head start on packing. I'll be up in a minute to talk with you more about this."
"Y-yes sir..." I said as I turned to go up to my room.
I just went upstairs and sat in my bed with my head in my hands. I knew what what coming, he was really mad. The way he looks at me, its like he doesn't care at all.

I heard foot steps coming up the stairs and tried to calm myself so that I don't look scared.
My a door opened slowly and my dad walked in.
"Hinata, I cant believe you have the balls to directly disobey me... AND THEN ASK TO GO OUT AND HAVE FUN WITH YOUR LITTLE FAKE ASS FRIENDS."
I just stared at him, waiting on him to hit me or kick me but for now he continued to yell.
"AS LONG AS YOU LIVE UNDER MY ROOM, YOU UNFORTUNATELY BELING TO ME AND WILL FOLLOW MY RULES!" He screamed as pushed me down into the bed.
"I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WOULD WANT TO GO TO THE CAMP ANYWAYS, ITS NOT LIKE THE TEAM NEEDS YOU YOU WORTHLESS PIG. YOU CANT DO ANYTHING RIGHT!"
I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes.
"YOUR OWN DAD THINKS YOUR A MISTAKE, SO WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOULL EVER BE ENOUGH FOR ANYONE ELSE! YOU SHOULD'VE DIED THAT DAY!"
He lurched towards me and put his hand on my throat. He choked me as I gasped for air.
Tears began to form in my dads eyes as he looked at me with hate in his eyes.
"IM SO SICK OF YOU PLAYING THE VICTIM IN OUR SITUATION, IM THE ONE WHO GOT STUCK WITH WORTHLESS PIECE OF CRAP OF A SON!"
My vision turned black and I went limp under his grip. He let go and pulled me up by the collar of my shirt.
"You should just do us both a favor and kill yourself." He spat at me.
He let go of my shirt and my legs have out under me. I fell to the ground and didn't even cry. I felt so numb. Maybe he's right, it would be easier on everyone if I wasn't alive.

I remained on the ground and stared at my ceiling. At least I'll be able to getaway from this hell in 2 short days.
I got up and walked to my bathroom to clean myself up. I looked in the mirror and noticed that my neck was already bruising up. "Great, that'll be fun to cover up." I said aloud to myself.
⚠️⚠️⚠️
"You should just kill yourself"
"You're worthless, nobody would miss you if you died"
"You'd be doing everyone a favor"
I looked down at counter and saw the razor blade. The blade seemed to be the only thing that stopped the voices, so it couldn't be that bad. Right?
I pulled up my shorts, deciding that if they were on my leg they would be easier to cover.
⚠️⚠️⚠️
I don't understand how pain could relax me, but it does.
I didn't bother to bandage my wounds since I was about to take a shower. I turned on the warm water and let it run over my bruises body. The hot water stung the cuts, but I didn't care.
I got out of the shower and wrapped my cuts. I brushed my teeth and pulled on a sweatshirt.
I climbed into bed and pulled the covers to my chin. I relaxed my body and realized how tired and sore I was. Even though I had slept all day at the park, I still felt exhausted. I allowed my eyes to droop shut and I was in a deep sleep for the rest of the night.

Maker of Fire
On a world where magic kept civilization firmly in the bronze age, the Gods dropped an accountant and a mining engineer to start a political and industrial revolution. They wanted enlightened governance and a fast track to the iron age. They got indoor plumbing, paper airplanes, a cranky queen, and one very grumpy prophet. Dramatis Personae Aylem was a bookkeeping student when she died. The Gods reincarnated her as the greatest mage ever known, born into the ruling class of gigantic, magic-wielding humans. The Gods expect her to conquer the world and introduce double-entry accounting. Though Queen and numerical reformer, world conquest is stalled because everyone is scared of her and she doesn't like war. Emily was a retired engineer when she died. The Gods reincarnated her as one of the enslaved class of small, magicless humans. The Gods expect her to drag the world out of the bronze age. Though she's already recreated matches and wrought iron, introducing technology isn't going well because she was born a slave (oops) and having escaped, wants nothing to do with so-called "civilization." Asgotl was a whale when he died. The Gods reincarnated him as a griffin and expect him to have the same role he played in his previous life: to keep a reluctant prophet from walking off the job.
