"Wake up felix"

My body slightly jumped. I rubbed my eyes.

"Aunt Ina and the family are here in half an hour"

I groaned, and stretched my arms out. The room was so bright. I opened my eyes just slightly to the sight of my dad standing beside my bed.

I would've been surprised, cause he doesn't really wake me up. At least not in this was, but I was too tired to function normally.

"Alright" I managed to mumble while turning my body around.

I heard him leave out the door.

The first thing I did after stretching out was check if I had gotten any messages from Hyunjin. I got my phone off the bedside table and turned it on. Two new messages. One from Hyunjin and one from Kai.

I left the chat and opened the message Kai had sent.

I got out of the bed and started walking towards my closet. I found a pair of black jeans and a button up shirt to wear. It didn't look too shabby.

Dad probably woke me up extra late so that I wouldn't have much time to do my makeup. Not that I had plans to wear any in the first place.

I went into the bathroom, and put my clothes on. I wasn't happy to be back. Not at all. I was already starting to miss the camp. It had nothing to do with the camp itself, but the whole vibe. Waking up with Hyunjin, falling asleep with him. Spending my whole day with him and Kai.

Knowing that I wouldn't be able to go back there hurt. Yeah sure, I was overthinking. I had literally only spent one day at home. But what I'm saying was true.

I had no idea how long it'd be until I could move out with Hyunjin. Years, most likely.

"Felix, come down would you?" Mom shouted from downstairs

She was cooking up some breakfast-lunch for everyone later. Like, a hundred pancakes, and a twenty centimeter tall tower of bacon. I was hungry as fuck, but she told me to wait.

"Why'd you make so much?" I asked, looking down at all the different towers of food

"Well, maybe they're extra hungry" she replied, sounding a bit annoyed at my question.

"Right" i mumbled before going over to the sofa

I got my phone up and checked my messages.

I caught myself smiling down at my phone, and embarrassingly looked up and around me. Dad was sitting in the chair in front of me reading a newspaper.

"When are they here?" I asked casually, referring to aunt Ina and the family.

"They could be here any second" dad responded

I nodded

Ugh. Why'd they have to come so early? They're staying here for both dinner and breakfast. I knew this was going to be a long day.

"Oh, and by the way I'm going to Kai's house tomorrow" I said

"The other guy from camp?" Dad asked

"Yeah"

I was afraid to tell him about the sleeping over part. I wasn't even sure if Hyunjin would be able to do it. It'd be best if I waited a bit to tell dad.

I was just about to send Hyunjin a message asking if he was allowed to sleep over when the doorbell rang.

Well fuck, here we go.

I got up from the sofa, and pat my shirt down. Dad ran to open the door, and mom kept cooking.

"Hello!" Almost everyone exclaimed

I had to hug each and every person.

I put my phone down in my pocket. I wouldn't be able to use it a lot, cause that'd be "disrespectful" towards the guests.

Everyone took a seat except for mom who was plating everything. Sadly, the only seat left for me was between a cousin and my uncle.

They were both staring me down like some psychopaths. I tried giving them a little smile, but it didn't seem to work.

"Alright guys! Feel free to dig in!" Mom said happily after we got done thanking god for the food and all.

I poured myself a glass of apple juice, and waited till everyone had gotten themselves some food.

Both my cousins stared me down. They were a couple years younger than me. I tried avoiding eye contact, cause it was always too awkward.

When everyone had started talking, I began filling up my own plate. I never spoke much during family meetings. Neither did my cousins.

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. It was tempting to just use it under the table, but I was pretty positive that somebody would notice.

"I heard you went to a christian bible camp Felix" my aunt said, catching my attention

"Yeah" I nodded, mouth full of food

"How was it?" She asked

I quickly swallowed.

"It was.. great?"

She smiled

"Did you make any new friends?"

I was about to answer her question when dad took the word and did it for me.

"Yes, he did" he said

"Fun! What are their names?" She asked

Again, dad interrupted our conversation by answering himself.

"Hyunjin and Kai" He responded

I nodded in confirmation and went back to eating. The bible camp wasn't brought up anymore. Everything went as normal. Me and my cousins eating in silence, and our parents chatting about anything.

My phone vibrated maybe two or three times. One of the times my dad noticed.

"Felix" he belted in an angry tone

"I'm sorry" I muttered

Everyone at the table stopped talking.

"Who is it?" Dad asked loudly

"I don't know" I shrugged

"Mind showing us?" He suggested

All eyes were on me

I got my phone up. Three new messages from Hyunjin.

"It's just a guy from camp" I explained

"Hyunjin?"

"Uhm, yeah"

I had no idea why he was all up in my business. I turned my phone off, and put it back into my pocket.

"What's he saying?" Dad asked

"I don't know" I replied, hoping that we could get it over with.

But we didn't. He asked me to take my phone back out of my pocket and read the messages out loud. Everyone else at the table were confused as to why my dad was doing this.

I didn't want to talk back at him, so I did as he said. All I had to do was just lie about the messages right? I'd just say Hyunjin asked me about my day or something.

I unlocked my phone, and checked the messages.

I could feel my face flushing red as I skimmed through the messages.

"He just asked me what I was doing" I lied

Dad didn't look convinced. Not at all. I looked over at mom, and she seemed clueless. Just as clueless as everyone else at the table.

"How about the other messages?" He asked

"What other messages?"

"Your phone vibrated multiple times"

I acted as if I didn't know what he was talking about, but it quickly went up for me that it wouldn't work.

"He said hi first" I paused -"and then he sent me a question mark cause I didn't reply"

I felt confident in my lie, even if my face wasn't convincing enough.

I was about to put my phone back down in my pocket when dad stopped me by reached past my cousin, and holding onto my arm.
