Taehyung's paws were light when they carried him back to the castle. His heart was overflowing with happiness because he got to see his Mates again. It's only been a little amount of time yet that felt like an eternity to Taehyung. Being separated from his Mates was something he never wanted to experience again.
Silver howled in agreement, quickening their steps until the eternal wolf was nearly flying over the ground.
Coming closer to the castle, Taehyung felt the sudden tug of discomfort inside of him. Something was not right and the closer he approached the castle, the more the feeling intensified.
Before he entered the castle, Taehyung transformed back into his human form. His pace was slower now, more cautious. He felt afraid for unknown reasons.
But the reasons became clear once he entered the castle and was met with complete chaos.
Guards were running around, dodging broken glass and shattered walls and dead bodies, trying to repair what could be fixed while others tried to clear the mess. Taehyung stood in the entrance, flabbergasted. The vampires' attack has been brutal but Taehyung didn't remember it being this horrifying.
The Omega scanned the room, trying to find someone familiar. He did. "Jimin!", he called out the pack Beta's name and the man whipped around. Relief washed over his face once he recognized the Omega. "Taehyung, thank Luna", he called out for him, relieved. Taehyung snorted. Luna had little to do with this.
"Jimin, what happened here?", Taehyung worriedly asked and Jimin sighed, turning to examine the mess. His brows were furrowed, eyes tired and with heavy bags under them. He looked like he hadn't slept in days, the worry so visibly carved in his face that Taehyung wondered how long he been away.
"We searched for you, but you couldn't be found. Namjoon, ah well your brother, he didn't leave any traces. We searched everywhere in the territory and beyond", Jimin told Taehyung whose worry sky-rocketed. How long has he been away? It felt like mere moments, a few hours maybe but Jimin sounded like he disappeared for days.

Maybe time in the moon forest worked differently? Taehyung didn't know. He also wasn't aware that the so called moon forest was situated outside this world, in Luna's territory. It was her kingdom, her place to rule.
"How long was I gone?", Taehyung asked with a trembling voice. Jimin rubbed over his eyes and heaved a sigh. "Four days. Tae, I'm so glad you're back, I was really worried and my Mates were too. But something bad happened", the man told Taehyung swiftly, he couldn't waste any more time. The future of this kingdom was threatened and Taehyung was the only one to fix it.
The Omega's blue eyes clouded with apprehension, turning them a dark indigo. Silver whined, fearing the wellbeing of his Mates.
Come to think of it, it was unusual for them to be absent. Taehyung couldn't feel their presence either.
"Where are my Mates, Jimin?", the silver-haired male asked the squirming Alpha in front of him. Jimin searched for words.
"WHERE ARE THEY?", Taehyung now exploded, approaching Jimin who stumbled backwards in shock. Taehyung's eyes glowed blue and a snarl was on his lips; he was furious and a silver aura laid itself around his small frame. He looked... powerful. And frigthening.
"Taehyung, I need you to calm down", Hoseok jumped in front of Jimin. He had felt the sudden rush of magic and searched for the source of it, only to find it in the returned Omega. Hoseok knew what that meant: the Omega had accepted his origin and was transforming into his true form, the eternal wolf he was always meant to be.
Powerful enough to turn the world upside down if they didn't give him what he wanted.
"And I need my Mates", Taehyung snarled, his powers out of control. He was so scared that something bad happened to his Mates.

"Why is no one telling me the truth? Where are they?", he demanded to know. Hoseok and Jimin shared a glance before the wizard finally spoke.
"They are gone."
Taehyung's eyes stopped glowing and he stumbled backwards. "W-what? What do you mean 'they are gone'??"
Hoseok sighed, closing his eyes for a second. He didn't want to tell Taehyung. The poor Omega has suffered so much already and there wasn't an end in sight. But he was the only one who could find them.
"After you disappeared... I mean, after your brother took you, your presence in this world was gone. The twins felt it too. It was like... you were completely gone, dead", the wizard explained in a soft voice, feeling sympathetic towards the look on Taehyung's face. He looked like he was punched in the gut.
"They couldn't handle that...
Taehyung gasped. He felt like no air was in his lungs. A punch in the throat was less hurtful than this message. "B-but... I don't understand... no one has seen them?" When Hoseok nodded, Taehyung gasped again, tears pooling in his eyes.
"This is all my fault", the Omega stuttered, eyes unfocused. Pain was ripping his heart apart. "Tae...", Jimin said carefully. Taehyung flinched back when the Alpha tried touching him.
"I have to find them", Taehyung said in a rushed tone, eyes now wild and searching for any kind of presence of his Mates. There was none.
"I have to", he mumbled, stumbling backwards. "Tae!", Hoseok called out for him but Taehyung didn't want to listen. He couldn't. His Mates, his dear twins, have disappeared. Taehyung needed them, he couldn't live without them. He had to find them.
So he turned on his heels, transforming into his wolf form, four silver paws hitting the castle ground. Hoseok and Jimin tried to stop him, tried reasoning with him but to no avail: Taehyung was gone before they could utter a word.
°°°
Taehyung's paws once again carried him through a forest. Silver was crying inside of him, demanding for their Mates. His nose was trying to pick up even the slightest sign of their scents, the Omega blindly running around. Tears clouded his vision and he stumbled over a big branch.
'I have to find them, I can't...'
A sob forced its way out of Taehyung and his small form trembled when he slumped onto the ground. He sobbed dryly, shoulders heaving by the force of his sobs. It was useless, he was never going to find them.
Was this the way they felt after Namjoon took him? Taehyung howled, a long lone sound in the middle of the silent forest.
A sudden growl pierced through his sounds of sadness and Taehyung's head shot up.
Two wolves approached him, one darker than midnight and the other's fur a deep black. Taehyung could recognize these wolves everywhere. He whined, Silver howling in happiness.
"Jeongguk, Jungkook", Taehyung whispered breathlessly, transforming back into his human form, crouched on the ground. "You're here, oh god, I thought I'd never find you--", he started, hand reaching out for them.
Only to snap back when they growled at him. They bared their teeth, circling the Omega without any form of empathy in their eyes. There was only hatred.
And Taehyung came to a horrible realization.
Their wolves didn't recognize him anymore.
~
Will Taehyung be properly reunited with his Mates ?

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!
