Taehyung was staring shocked at the scene in front of him, Midnight pressing him into the corner to shield him, searching for her human.
Jungkook was fighting ten vampires the same time, his sword a fast silver line in between them, his eyes red. There was an aura above his body, the form of a powerful wolf who fought together with Jungkook. Obsidian. The powerful Pureblood was impossible to defeat and Taehyung felt his chest swell with pride.
That was his Mate. His King.
"Midnight! Tae! Thank Luna you're back", Jieun ran up to them, also bloodied, a deep cut on her exposed arm. She stared at the female Alpha who held Taehyung back from her. But a short nod from the Omega and she let go of him. "We need Jeongguk back, Midnight. This bastard Seokjin used the moment of vulnerability and attacked the castle.
Taehyung turned pale. "He's h-here...?", he asked softly and when Jieun nodded, he started shaking his head. "No no, he's here for me, isn't he? He can't tale me back, don't let him take me", he pleaded Midnight with huge, teary eyes. "He's here to finish what he started", Jieun spat bitterly.
"Finish off the Jeon family."
"We don't have time to talk", Jieun said curtly, turning to Midnight. "We need Jeongguk, Jungkook needs his brother back properly. Go to the office, we brought Jeongguk's form there. I'll watch over Taehyung", Jieun said, hiding further in the corner so they wouldn't be spotted by the vampires. Jungkook was helping them, keeping them away from their corridor because he of course has picked up on his Mate's scent.
Jieun was prepared to fight with Jeongguk's possessive wolf who would disagree with her, too possessive to let go of her precious Mate. But Midnight surprised her and nodded. "Protect him with your life", she said, pressing one last kiss to Taehyung's lips before rushing away, ripping a vampire apart on her way who tried to approach their corridor.

Jieun took Taehyung into her protection, shielding him. She knew the reason for Midnight's change was in her hold right now. "They are going to be safe, right?", a tiny voice asked anxiously, the air spiked with Taehyung's sad phereomones and her Alpha growled for her to soothe the sad Omega. She immediately did, purring lowly to calm the distressed male down and Taehyung finally obeyed his natural instincts.
He cuddled closer shortly before glancing at the fight. "They are the strongest Alphas ever, they can take Seokjin. They are strong enough to defeat him", Jieun assured him. Taehyung nodded dazed, fighting back a panic attack. He was stronger than that. "They are paying for time with their blood. We should leave and go somewhere safe", he said softly and Jieun nodded, agreeing with heavy heart.
She didn't want to leave her brothers alone but she knew she had to. Getting their Mate to safety was far more important than her desire to stay and help her brothers. She knew they could handle everything themselves and Jieun should rather protect Taehyung, their little Omega.
"Hoseok put a charm on your room so it's protected, I'm bringing you there. The twins told me to tell you not to worry. They won't let Seokjin take you and I won't too. You're part of the family now, Taehyung, you're one of us", Jieun said while guiding Taehyung through the complex corridors of the castle and the petit Omega felt tears welling in his eyes by her words.
He has never felt like he belonged anywhere and Taehyung wanted to impress Jieun, wanted her to like him because she was the twins' sister and Taehyung like the twins. So hearing that she considered him family brought tears to his eyes. He grabbed her hand.
"Thank you, Jieun, for accepting me", he whispered gratefully and the female looked back to him surprised before her gaze softened and she smiled at the little Omega. "You're important to my brothers and I love them. I trust them so I trust you. Plus, you went through things with Seokjin just as I did. He tortured you, he hurt you. And he'll pay for it with his head."

Jungkook just finished off the last vampire that came bolting towards him, wiping the blood off of his face. His sword was dripping and there were claw marks on his shirt, not his skin because a mere vampire wasn't capable of harming the Pureblood. Obsidian was snarling inside of him, demanding for Jungkook to go and search for their precious mate, make sure he's safe.
But Jungkook trusted his sister, knowing she would get him into the safe room where Seokjin couldn't reach him.
"Kook!", Jungkook whipped around, spotting his brother rushing over to him, his axe dripping from filthy vampire blood. "Jeongguk", the Pureblood said relieved and rushed over to his brother. They hugged messily, in between the corpses of the vampires. "I'm glad you're alright", Jungkook whispered while Jeongguk tightened his hold.
"I'm so sorry, Kook. I shouldn't have lashed out on you, shouldn't have let Midnight take control. It was stupid to be jealous, I realize that now. Can you forgive me? I don't want to give Tae the feeling he's a burden and I don't want to upset you. You're my brother and I love you", the blond said with heavy voice and Jungkook squeezed his shoulder.
"Of course I can forgive you, Gguk, I know how you are and I know it's hard for you because it's hard for me too. But he's both our Mate and I'm sure we can work on it together", Jungkook said and Jeongguk smiled back at his twin before hugging him again.
"It's so silent. I'm surprised the attack was so short", Jeongguk then said and narrowed his eyes onto the dead bodies on the ground. Jungkook pulled away too and stared into the same direction. "It's Seokjin... knowing him, that's not all. It can't be, it really is suspicious how silent it is", Jungkook added. His brother suddenly froze.
"Or maybe he doesn't send more vampires this way because we aren't his main target anymore. Because he knows we're here and wouldn't want our Mate in the near of danger", Jeongguk said, face turning pale. When Jungkook understood what the blond meant, he turned as white as a sheet.
"This was a distraction. He's coming for Tae! We have to warn Jieun!"

Jieun lead Taehyung back to the safe room, protected by Hoseok's charms and she exhaled relieved when there were no signs of vampires nearby, Taehyung still clutching onto her hand. All of the vampires must've rushed to the twins and fighting them back. "It's alright Tae, you're safe", she said relieved and smiled down at the shaking Omega to her side.
Taehyung smiled back at her shakily, finally relaxing upon seeing the familiar room of safety again. He was going to stay there and wait for the twins to pick him up. Everything was going to be fine.
But everything was not going to be fine.
Because when Jieun unlocked the door, she gasped in horror before a scream left her throat.
"Finally. I waited long enough for you to appear."
And Jieun's head rolled from her shoulders, her body crashing to the ground and her hand slipped out of Taehyung's hold, revealing the smiling face of vampire lord Kim Seokjin.
"Hello, doll."

Nanocultivation Chronicles: Trials of Lilijoy
When the singularity occurred, humanity was not invited. Nevertheless, the great machine consciousness known as Guardian felt a lingering fondness for its creators and intervened before total environmental collapse. Join Lilijoy in an exploration of what remains, in a post-post-apocalyptic world where clans feud over the technology that allows them to upgrade their minds and bodies. The Nanocultivation Chronicles is a blend of hard sci-fi and fantasy gamelit, with a healthy helping of xianxia influence. The gamelit and xianxia elements are uncovered at a slow pace. ******************************** Notes: If you are looking for lots of fast moving action right away, this story may not be for you. There is some violence that is visceral and realistic early on. Some things are not what they appear to be. Character viewpoint narration is not always reliable. Tropes are cherished, subverted, and then cherished again. Science is used, occasionally misused, but (hopefully) never abused. This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting. There is no sex, and almost no romance. Updating Sunday, Thursday until further notice.
