《Forgive ( Alicia Clark x You )》(13) Willing

A few days had passed and Y/N was finally beginning to feel better. Alicia was true to her word and managed the older girls intake of medicine thoughtfully, to which Y/N was grateful. She hadn't found herself wanting more, and Y/N knew it was partially because she really didn't want to disappoint Alicia or anyone else on the boat.

They'd docked at a random island for a night that was thankfully abandoned...well, not abandoned but the people there weren't exactly alive anymore. Strand had been mapping out his moves, and everyone still thought they were all headed to San Diego. Y/N continued to try talking him out of it, but the older man would not budge. She knew she had to tell Alicia, but at this point she wasn't sure what good it would do.

Y/N was currently laying in her and Alicia's shared bed, watching a movie on a laptop they'd brought on board. She wasn't entirely sure where Alicia was, but the girl had mentioned going to speak with her mom.

Right as Y/N was closing the laptop, having finished her movie, Alicia stormed into the bedroom.

"You knew, didn't you?" Alicia exclaimed angrily, causing Y/N to stare at her in confusion. "Don't play dumb with me, Y/N! You knew that you and Strand were going to Mexico and that he was just going to abandon us in San Diego."

Y/N's eyes widened as Alicia said this, and she quickly moved to stand up. As she got closer to Alicia she could see the girl's face was red with anger.

Y/N gulped slightly before responding. "I told Strand I wasn't going with him if he wasn't taking everyone, Alicia..."

"BULLSHIT!" Alicia yelled. "Was this all just a game? Make me trust you so I'd get off the boat, and then just leave me behind?"

"What?" Y/N questioned, her heart dropping to her stomach as she heard Alicia's words. "None of this is a game to me! I genuinely care about you and want to be with you. I don't know how you found out about this, but the reason I didn't tell you was because no matter what happened I was staying wherever you went!"

Alicia shook her head in denial. "No, you're lying to me!"

"Why would I lie if you already know the truth about Mexico? I didn't even know Strand was still alive the first time we kissed!" Y/N was desperately trying to make Alicia believe her. She knew not telling Alicia the truth immediately was a mistake, but she didn't realize this was the conclusion Alicia would come to. "The other night when Strand and I were arguing...we were arguing because I told him I refused to leave you behind. He was upset I didn't want to go to Mexico with him if it meant not being with you anymore."

Alicia's facial features softened at Y/N's words, but the older girl knew she was still upset. Y/N took a chance and walked closer to the girl, thankful Alicia didn't pull away when Y/N took ahold of her hands.

"Alicia, I told Strand that if he didn't take everyone then I wasn't going...the reason I didn't tell you yet was because I've been trying to figure out how to get everyone into Mexico," Alicia was staring into Y/N's eyes as the y/h/c girl spoke, searching for any signs that she was lying. "I thought if I figured it out then we could avoid everyone being upset. I wanted to avoid you thinking that I was willing to leave you behind."

Alicia nodded slightly, but she still seemed to be upset about the whole conversation. "I believe you but you should have told me sooner...how am I supposed to trust you, Y/N?"

Y/N teared up as Alicia said this. The last thing she wanted was to lose the younger girl's trust, and the thought of doing so broke her heart. She was also frustrated with herself, which only caused the tears to continue forming, though she tried to keep them from falling.

"I just wanted everyone to be happy on this boat...I didn't want anyone to fear the future. If I can't get you all into Mexico then I'm not going. I didn't think there was a point in telling you because no matter what happened my plan has always been to stay wherever you are," Y/N said with a slight quiver in her voice.

Alicia sighed, pulling her hands out of Y/N's and taking a step back. This caused a single tear to escape the older girl's eyes, but she knew she deserved it. She should have known hiding things would mess everything up...that's what happened when she was an addict and now it was happening again. Nothing good ever lasted if you kept secrets from the people you care about.

"Why are you crying?" Alicia said softly when she noticed a tear streaming down Y/N's cheek.

Y/N shrugged in response, biting her lip nervously as she did so. She'd never been good at showing emotions, and she didn't want Alicia to see her as weak because she was crying.

"Because you're going to hate me now..." Y/N mumbled after a few moments of silence. "I thought I was doing the right thing, but I wasn't and I don't blame you for being upset. I just wish I had been smarter to begin with."

Alicia shook her head, reaching forward and cupping Y/N's cheek while gently wiping the tear from her cheek. "I don't hate you, Y/N. While I wish you had told me, a part of me understands why you didn't."

"I could never leave you behind, Alicia," Y/N said honestly, reaching her hand up to her own face and placing it over Alicia's. "I just thought I could figure everything out before everyone realized what was going on. But no matter what, I'm staying wherever you are."

"You're willing to leave Strand?" Alicia questioned her.

"It's not what I want," Y/N answered truthfully. "But I've never cared about anyone the way I care about you. I didn't realize it was possible for someone to mean so much to me in such a little amount of time, but it is."

Sure her and Alicia had known each other for years, but it wasn't until the apocalypse started that they truly started to talk and get along. Nothing meant more to Y/N than staying with Alicia and making sure she stayed safe.

Alicia pulled her hand away from Y/N's cheek, but only so she could use both arms to wrap Y/N into a hug. The second her arms reached around the back of Y/N's neck the older girl wrapped her arms around Alicia's waist, pulling her into a tight hug.

"I'm so sorry, Alicia," Y/N mumbled out while they hugged each other. Y/N hear Alicia mumble out an 'it's okay', which caused her to continue. "It's not okay and I know that, but I promise to do everything in my power to figure this out."

Alicia pulled away from the hug, though her hands stayed behind Y/N's neck, her fingers tangling into her hair. Y/N kept her hands on the brunettes waist, admiring her soft facial features as they stared at one another.

"No more secrets, okay?" Alicia said gently, a small smile on her face.

Y/N nodded, leaning forward to capture Alicia's lips in a soft and short kiss. She pulled away, but kept their foreheads touching as she replied. "No more secrets, Alicia. I promise."

The next day they left the island and continued heading toward San Diego. By now everyone knew that only two people could get into Mexico, but they also knew Y/N wasn't willing to leave everyone behind. She had talked to them all the night before, after her and Alicia's fight, and explained that she had been trying to figure out a way for everyone to come to Mexico. Strand didn't attend the makeshift meeting, and Y/N knew he was trying to avoid confrontation.

"What if everyone hid below the deck?" Y/N said to Nick. They were currently spitballing ideas on how to get everyone through the border while Alicia was curled up into Y/N's side, taking a nap. By now everyone on The Abigail knew they were a thing, and no one really cared. Madison had been shocked, but was just glad to see Alicia so happy and actually be getting along with Y/N.

Nick nodded at her words. "That's what I was thinking. If everyone hides we might be able to make it across."

"If they come on board to check...I say we fight. We have enough firepower and manpower on here to win," Y/N continued.

Nick nodded in agreement. They both knew it was a possibility that the Mexican Authorities would come on board, but they couldn't imagine there being too many people at that ocean border stop.

"Now the only problem is getting Strand to agree to all this," The older Clark sibling pointed out.

Y/N shrugged, knowing he was right but also knowing if this plan didn't work then they'd all be stuck in San Diego with no clue how safe they were.

"I'll talk to him later this evening. We're still a day and a half away from San Diego at the rate we've been going. Strand is trying to conserve fuel," Y/N told Nick while shifting slightly in her spot on the couch.

This caused Alicia to move slightly, and her arm made its away around Y/N's waist as she continued to sleep. Nick eyed the twos interaction with an amused look on his face, causing Y/N to raise a questioning eyebrow towards him.

"I just never saw this coming," He laughed out. "But I have to say if there was anyone I'd want Alicia to date, it would be you. You're one of the best people I know, Y/N."

Nick's response caused Y/N to smile widely. She hadn't been sure how Nick felt about his best friend dating his sister, but knowing he was okay with it strangely made her feel relieved.

Eventually Nick walked off, mentioning something about fishing with Daniel and Chris. Once he was gone Y/N lightly shook Alicia awake, realizing she'd been napping for quite awhile. She didn't want the younger girl to not be able to sleep at night due to the fact she slept too long during the day.

Alicia groaned as she opened her eyes slightly, sending Y/N an annoyed look.

Y/N rolled her eyes toward Alicia, laughing gently as she did so. "Oh don't give me that look. If I didn't wake you up you'd be up all night."

Alicia rolled her eyes back, knowing Y/N was right. "Yeah, I know I know. Did you and Nick come up with a plan?"

Y/N nodded as she began running her hand up and down Alicia's arm gently. "Everyone hides until we make it into Mexico. If they find us we fight back, but I don't think it'll come to that."

"Y/N....Strand will never agree to that," Alicia pointed out.

The older girl knew Alicia was right, but there was something else Y/N had been thinking about. It wasn't her proudest thought, but she knew that everyone else would agree to it.

"There's 8 of us and one of Strand, he's not going to be able to get us off this boat. Even if he wanted to kick us all off," Y/N said, finally admitting to what had been in the back of her mind.

Turning on Strand was never something Y/N thought she'd do, but if it was for the greater good then she would.

Alicia stared at Y/N in surprise, though she knew if Y/N said that she meant it. Alicia knew the older girl grew up with Strand always around, and the fact she was willing to cross him in order for everyone to make it across made her heart flutter slightly.

"Are you sure you're willing to do that, Y/N?" Alicia asked while entertaining their hands.

Y/N raised their intertwined hands to her mouth, kissing Alicia's gently before responding. "I'm willing to do anything to keep you safe, Alicia."
