《Forgive ( Alicia Clark x You )》(7) Protect Them

Y/N was true to her word and left Alicia alone the second they got back to her house. The walk back was silent and awkward, and Y/N hated every second of it. She didn't understand why Alicia was choosing to be mad at her when the younger girl literally kissed her - not the other way around. It wasn't fair, but Y/N tried to not dwell on it any longer. She had more important things to worry about anyway.

When Y/N walked into the house she quickly found Madison who was washing dishes in the kitchen.

"Can we talk?" Y/N asked the woman while walking into the kitchen.

Madison simply nodded, smiling slightly as she watched Y/N lean up against the counter. The smile soon turned into a frown when she heard Y/N sigh, and only then did she noticed the upset look on the younger girl's face.

Y/N was upset for multiple reasons, but right now only one was important enough to tell Madison. "I'm going to tell you this, and I know you'll probably freak out," Y/N started while running her hand through her hair. "But bear with me...My friend Ofelia and I w-we tied up a guard," Madison went to say something but was quickly cut off by Y/N who continued speaking nervously. "And look I know that's bad but he told us where Nick and Liza are!"

Madison stared at Y/N with wide eyes, clearly not caring about the fact she knew where Nick was. "ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?" Y/N cringed slightly as Madison continued yelling at her while also stepping closer to her, getting right in her face. "DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE?"

"Madison, it doesn't matter!" Y/N exclaimed, choosing not to yell back at the older woman. "The soldiers they're-they're leaving. Like soon! Like at any waking moment."

"What are you talking about?" Madison questioned. By this point Travis, Chris and Alicia were all walking into the kitchen, obviously having heard Madison yelling at the girl. Each one held a confused expression on their faces. "Y/N, what are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about Project Cobalt. I'm talking about the fact that the world is so fucked up that even the soldiers are leaving!" She threw her hands up in the air. "We're on our own now, Madison."

Travis stepped forward, placing a hand on Madison's shoulder to gently coax her out of Y/N's face. Y/N remained where she was as Travis started speaking. "How do you know this?"

"The soldier she's holding hostage told her," Madison scoffed out. This caused a concerned look to take over Travis' face.

"It's not just me doing it...my friend Ofelia and her father we-" She paused for a moment, taking a deep breath. "We tied him up and he's been giving us information."

"Did you two know about this?" Travis said while turning to look at Alicia and Chris. Both of them had wide eyes, and Chris looked confused. "Answer me!"

"No!" Y/N answered for them, causing Alicia's eyes to grow even wider. "Neither of them knew...I didn't tell them."

Travis sighed heavily while turning back toward Y/N. "Take me to him," When Y/N didn't make a move to leave the house he raised his voice slightly, reinforcing the fact he wanted to go that second. "Right now, Y/N!"

Y/N nodded quickly, turning to leave the house. As she approached the door she noticed the sun had now fully set and that it was dark out. She realized time was weird during the "apocalypse". She could have sworn her and Alicia had only been gone for a few hours but was now realizing they'd been gone all day. As Y/N turned the door knob, pulling the door open she came face to face with Ofelia and Daniel. She then noticed the soldier standing behind them, his hands still tied.

"They left," Daniel said quickly. "The soldiers are gone and I know where we need to go but we must hurry."

"So you're the other two sick bastards that tied him up?" Travis questioned while stepping in front of Y/N. He looked like he was ready to fight, and Y/N bit her lip slightly as Daniel began to take a step forward.

"We're the sick bastards that know how to get the people you care about back," Daniel said harshly, causing Travis to step back slightly. "You should be thanking Y/N...we heard the yelling down the street."

Travis shook his head. "I'm not thanking anyone. Now tell me where to go so I can get Liza and Nick back."

"We're coming too," Ofelia spoke up. She smiled over at Y/N who smiled back slightly. This caused Alicia to roll her eyes but neither girl noticed. Chris did notice, however, and chuckled slightly under his breath. He knew Alicia had a crush on Y/N - it was way too obvious.

Madison then stepped forward slightly. "What about him?" She pointed toward James.

Daniel spoke up again. "He is coming to lead us there."

"Well he's riding with me," Travis said while eyeing the three people standing in front of me. "It's clear you've already done enough," He then motioned towards James's bloody face and wrapped up arms.

"Okay, but we need to leave now," Ofelia said. "If the soldiers here left then it's only a matter of time before the soldiers at the compound leave. Who has a gun?"

Y/N and Madison both raises their hands. Travis, Chris and Madison all shot Y/N a confused look and she simply shrugged. Like she really would have told them she was keeping a gun in the house.

"Well enough standing around," Y/N said while pointing toward the driveway. "Let's get the fuck outta here."

As she said this everyone began heading toward the cars. Madison quickly ran back into the house to retrieve her gun, and Travis grabbed hold of the soldier to drag him over to the truck. He also insisted that Y/N ride with him, and as much as she wanted to argue she agreed. She figured Travis didn't trust her anymore, which was fair but totally not necessary at the moment. Like, she was technically the reason they knew where to even go at the moment.

Daniel and Ofelia got into Madison's car while the other three piled into the Clark's suv.

"Can you draw me a map?" Travis said once they were inside the garage.

The soldier nodded, but Y/N raised an eyebrow up in confusion. "Why do we need a map if he's coming with us?"

"Because he's not coming with us," Travis replied while pulling a random notebook and pencil from inside his truck.

"Travis I don't thin-"

"Don't argue with me right now, kid," He responded as the soldier started drawing a map. "You've done enough already."

Y/N's mouth opened slightly in shock before her jaw clenched. She could feel herself growing angry with the curly headed man. "First off I am not a fucking kid," She said angrily. "Secondly yeah I have done enough because without me we wouldn't know where we're going. But hey if you think this is a good idea go for it. Apparently you're just sooo smart," She said the last part sarcastically.

Travis glared at her until he felt the soldier handing back the notebook. Once he looked over the map he nodded. "Stay here until we're gone," He told the soldier while climbing into the drivers seat.

Y/N rolled her eyes but got into the passengers seat. She knew no one would be able to tell the soldier wasn't in the truck since it was dark, but there was going to be a few pissed Salazar's once they arrived at the compound.

Travis opened the garage which prompted Madison to pull out of the driveway, as did Daniel and they waited in the street. Soon Travis was also in the street and they drove toward the compound, Madison and Daniel following closely behind. It was a short drive to the compound, and Y/N felt relieved when they pulled into the parking garage and she realized the soldier had led them to the right place. She honestly wasn't expecting it.

Everyone hopped out of their respective vehicles and as expected Daniel immediately rushed toward the truck in confusion.

"Where is he?" Daniel asked angrily while glaring over at Travis.

Travis sighed while holding out the notebook. "He drew me a map and I let him go. Does it matter? We're here."

"What if he comes back to get revenge?" Ofelia questioned worriedly.

Travis simply shrugged, causing Daniel, Ofelia, Y/N and even Alicia to send him an angry look. He ignored them while throwing the notebook back into the truck and closing it. "Okay so Alicia, Y/N and Chris will stay here while we go inside to get everyone back."

Y/N whipped her head toward him in confusion. "Why am I staying here? Hell why is Alicia staying here? We're adults, Travis."

Travis sighed slightly. "I'm not letting Alicia and Chris go in there, and as much as I don't want to admit it I trust you to keep them safe. You do have a gun after all."

"How do you even plan on getting in?" Chris questioned.

Daniel then spoke up. "I have a plan and Travis is right. Stay here and watch over the vehicles. If you see anyone coming hide."

Y/N opened her mouth to argue but Daniel shot her a look that caused her to quickly snap it back shut. What could she say? He was scary.

Madison pulled Chris and Alicia into hugs, whispering something to them as she did. She then moved to stand in front of Y/N, and after a moment of contemplation she pulled the slightly taller girl into a hug as well.

"You kept me safe in that high school, Y/N. I know we have never really seen eye to eye but I trust you. Protect my kids," Madison's words caught the girl off guard but she nodded, promising to protect them.

Once Madison pulled away she gave Y/N a tight lipped smiled before turning away, following Travis, Daniel and Ofelia out of the garage.

Then it got awkward. Chris looked like he wanted to speak to Y/N but decided against it. He didn't want Alicia to be pissed at him too.

Speaking of Alicia she was staring at Y/N with a look the girl couldn't quite gage. Alicia didn't look angry, but she did look upset. Y/N was sure her face held a similar look but she simply sighed. She walked back over to the truck while Alicia and Chris stayed by the SUV. She heard them speaking quietly but tuned it out while moving to sit in the bed of the truck.

True to her word she kept her eyes peeled, scanning the garage often for signs of anyone. After almost 15 minutes of just sitting there she let her guard down slightly, but that soon proved to be a mistake.

All three of their heads whipped toward the sound of men walking down into the garage, and soon Alicia turned to look at Y/N with a scared face.

"Hide," Y/N mouthed while going to lay in the bed of the truck. Alicia nodded and dragged Chris inside the SUV.

Y/N held her breath as the soldiers got closer, and she got worried when she heard them approach the SUV. She heard three different men talking, and her eyes grew wide in fear when she heard the SUV doors open and Chris and Alicia grunt as they were dragged out of it. She lifted her head slightly and noticed the soldier's backs were turned toward her as they spoke to Chris and Alicia.

"Why don't you come with us, girl," One of the soldiers said while running a hand through her hair. Y/N felt anger coursing through her veins as he said this but she tried to ignore it. She noticed only one soldier had a gun, and realized there was a chance she could help them.

"Don't touch her," Chris said angrily, causing all three soldiers to laugh.

"Just give us the keys, kid," The soldier with the gun said while looking toward Chris.

Y/N saw her chance and quietly crept out of the truck, cringing slightly when she saw a soldier punch Chris in the gut, sending him to the ground. Once she was out of the bed of the truck she quietly crept up behind the soldiers, noticing Alicia's eyes go wide when she saw Y/N walking toward them. The older girl sent her a look that Alicia understood and she began to pretend there was nothing out of the ordinary happening behind the soldiers.

Soon Y/N was right behind the soldier with the gun, and she knew she had one chance to not fuck it up. She stepped closer while pulling the gun from her waistband. She then lifted it up, the butt of the gun facing the man. With as much force as she could muster she hit the man right below his head, in a pressure point on his neck. He craned back slightly in pain, and as he did so she hit him again in the head, effectively knocking him out and sending him to the ground right beside Chris.

Y/N then turned her gun the correct way, pointing it toward the soldiers that were now facing her. "Nobody move or you're gonna have a bullet straight through your skull," She said angrily. "Chris get his gun," She then pointed toward the soldier on the ground.

Chris did as she said, grabbing the gun and standing up. Chris then pointed it toward one of the soldiers while Y/N kept her gun trained on the other. "Take a step back," He said while motioning with the rifle.

Both soldiers gulped heavily before stepping back. They were clearly scared by the young group, causing Y/N to laugh inside her mind. She remained harsh on the outside, though. She felt Alicia move to stand behind her, one of her hands gently gripping the girl's forearm out of fear. If Y/N wasn't so busy trying to look hard she probably would have smiled at the fact Alicia wanted to stand behind her.

"Now you two are gonna drag your friend over to that supply closet," She said while keeping her gun held out. "Then you're gonna close it, and we're going to lock you in. Got it?" Neither of the soldiers said anything, causing Y/N to speak up again. "I said got it? Do you understand or are you stupid?"

At this both soldiers mumbled out a "yes" while bending down to each grab one of the fallen soldier's arms. They began dragging him toward the closet while Y/N and Chris followed, their guns practically pushing the soldiers toward the closet as they pressed them to their backs. Once at the closet they walked inside, and Y/N shut it before grabbing a nearby piece of pipe and lodging it into the two handles of the small closet. Once the soldiers were locked in she sighed out in relief while turning to look at Chris.

"Are you okay?" She asked the younger boy.

"I wouldn't be if it weren't for you," He said honestly, causing Y/N to smiled gently.

The two walked back over to Alicia, and as they approached her she quickly threw her arms around Y/N to pull her into a hug. The action surprised the girl, and she was honestly scared to reciprocate the hug.

"Thank you," Alicia said while pulling away before Y/N could even return the hug. "You saved us, Y/N."

Y/N simply shrugged, not really seeing it as a big deal. But Alicia was right. Who knows what would have happened if Y/N hadn't chose to hide in Travis's truck. Maybe her giving Alicia distance actually was a good thing.

Before anyone else could speak up they heard a door swing open, and when they looked toward the staircase they noticed a group of people walking out. It was their people.

Y/N smiled as they all approached, grateful to see Nick and Liza with them. She frowned slightly when she didn't noticed an older woman with them. Something must have happened to Ofelia's mother. Before she could question them, however, she noticed someone else walking with them.

"Who is that?" Alicia said while motioning toward the tall man with the dark complexion.

Before anyone could answer he spoke up. "Y/N?"

"Strand?"
