Oneshot of Briffin being difficult

"tHe BlAcK pHoNe iS MiD" YOUR MOTHER IS MID.

I'm sorry.

"I don't get it." Billy says, Griffin looking distraught replies with "You don't need to get it to tell me it won't change anything." "If I don't get it, then how do I know it won't?" Billy asks, trying and failing to use a non-passive aggressive tone. "You don't have to know right now. You don't even have to mean it, just please tell me it won't. I don't care if you're lying, I just need to hear it. From you." Griffin pleads, now close to tears.

Billy sits silent for a few moments. "I already made a promise that I wouldn't lie to you. I'm not going to break that promise now." Billy says, getting up and grabbing his things to leave. "That doesn't even exist, I've never heard of it." Billy says as a parting.

Leaving Griffin with his thoughts is also something he promised to not do, but apparently that promise doesn't matter as much.

Billy nods his head as a greeting to some kids he passes, throwing newspapers onto the driveways that are on his route.

He subconsciously slows down as he approaches Griffin's house, Griffin's sitting under one of the trees in his front yard reading a book Billy had lent him a week or two prior. A small smile's placed on Griffin's features before he looks up and faces toward Billy. Billy quickly looks away and continues on his route.

Billy does a similar routine as yesterday's, greeting the kids playing outside with a nod and throwing newspapers to people's driveways.

Subconsciously slowing down once again, this time Griffin isn't under the tree and instead in at the mailbox reading through the mail. He also doesn't look up towards Billy, gifting Billy more time to look at and admire him so he stops his bike and stands staring at the other. "Billy!" Griffin's little sister, Sarah, says, running out through the front door of Griffin's house. Griffin's head slowly turns more towards Billy who looks like he's a five year old who just got caught with his hand in the candy jar.

Billy's dog is jumping and scratching at his leg, asking to go say hello to Griffin and his sister. Billy does a hand motion and the dog runs over to Griffin. "I saw you through the window!" Sarah exclaims, now standing at the end of the driveway. Griffin just stands still with the dog jumping up at him, clearly wanting attention.

Griffin eventually bends down and pets the dog. "Can you come in and have a tea party with me?" Sarah asks, looking hopeful. "I'll have a tea party with you Sarah, I believe Billy has a few more houses on his route. If you want to, you know you're always welcome." Griffin says, the last part aimed towards Billy. "I do, next time though." Billy says with a smile, only acknowledging Sarah. "C'here boy." Billy says, patting his leg for his dog to continue following him. "Can he pleaseeeee stay here? It's hot outside, too. Give him a break?" Sarah asks, hopeful Billy will let her play with the dog for a bit. "I guess, I'll come back and get him in about thirty minutes when I finish." Billy responds, waving goodbye.

A little less than thirty minutes later, he's knocking the Stagg's front door. Griffin answers the door, with a pink fur boa around his shoulders and a children's taira on his head. "I know you're y'know, but don't you think it's a little much?" Billy asks. "I'm having a tea party with Sarah, she insisted I wear the boa and tiara, I'm lucky I tricked her into letting me skip the princess dress." Griffin replies, stepping to the side to let Billy in.

"Want me to go get Samson?" Griffin asks, awkwardly standing in the living room with Billy. "I'll come with you, join in on the tea party for a little. Can't let you suffer alone." Billy replies, lightly punching him in the shoulder.

"Hi Billy!" Sarah greets, petting Samson who's wearing his own tiara (which looks adorable since the taira is also very small) "Hi Sarah." Billy replies, sitting down in a criss-cross position. Once Griffin sits down next to his sister, Samson jumps into his lap.

Sarah gets up and puts a Boa and Tiara on Billy (His is green unlike Griffin's who has a purple one) "Thanks, Sarah." Billy says, re-adjusting the Tiara so it doesn't fall off. "No problem!" Sarah replies, sitting back down.

Sarah pours imaginary tea into three different cups, then hands Griffin two and asks Griffin to hand Billy his since 'he's closer' Griffin starts to take a sip, before Sarah tells him "Hold your pinky out like a lady!" "Right, sorry." Griffin replies, sticking his pinky out then taking a sip. Billy giggling before taking a sip without sticking his pinky out. "Hey! How come he doesn't have to do the pinky thing?" Griffin asks, looking down slightly to his sister. "Because you're the queen and he's the king." Sarah responds then takes a sip of her own tea. "But we aren't married, I can't be queen if I'm not in the royal family." Griffin explains, subconsciously petting the dog that's fallen asleep in his lap. "Oo! I know, you guys should have a wedding then you'll be the queen and he'll be king!" Sarah says, clapping at her own idea. "I don't know if that's a good ide-" Griffin starts, getting interrupted by Billy "Sure, do we just kiss and say I do?" "Mhm!" Sarah responds, taking a sip of her tea.

Sarah gets Griffin up and makes them both stand facing each other. "Do you promise to stay with each other through good and bad?" Sarah asks, Griffin starts to open his mouth but Billy answers before him. "I do." Griffin giving the same answer shortly after. "Okay! You now may kiss the bride!" Sarah says, clapping when Billy brushes his lips against Griffin's.

Griffin and Billy had finally managed to get away from the 'tea party' and into Griffin's room. "Your sister can be..." "Exhausting." Griffin finishes, taking the boa off and setting it on his dresser. "You said it, not me." Billy says, walking over to Griffin and removing the tiara from his head and setting it on the dresser next to the boa.

Billy walks over to Griffin's bed and sits on it. "I think I might be gay." Billy mutters, Griffin would've made a joke out of it if it wasn't for what happened a few days prior. "What?" Griffin whispers out, taking how quiet Billy said it as a basic guide for his own volume. "I think I might be gay. I talked to the guidance counselor about it and she gave me a pamphlet about how to come out? She was super sweet about it." Billy explains, not using a hushed voice anymore but still using a much quieter voice than his typical one. "Did you wanna talk about it?" Griffin asks, walking closer to his bed. "No." "Okay."

Within a few minutes, Billy is laying on his back in Griffin's bed with Griffin laying next to him. "Thank you." Billy whispers, Griffin knows to not respond right now and instead let Billy peacefully fall asleep and take a well-deserved nap.

Griffin can hear the light patter of rain outside, he was planning to read a book once he finished his homework, but that plan was quickly squashed by the light rumble of the thunder every so often and rain. He heard the ring of the doorbell sound through the house, his parents were at work till late tonight and Sarah's with her friends Amy and Gwen playing with dolls. So neither of them had invited anyone, he decides to look through the peep-hole first to make sure it isn't a creepy person waiting to kidnap him. Instead he sees Billy? On the other side of the door, absolutely soaked. He unlocks and opens the door, "Dude, are you okay?" Griffin asks, letting Billy inside but stopping him from tracking too much water and mud into the house. "Yeah, fine. Can I have a towel?" Billy replies, awkwardly standing still in wet clothes. "Yeah, right, let me go grab you a towel and a change of clothes."

A few moments later, Griffin's coming back down the stairs with some of Billy's clothes he'd left there after a sleepover a while back and a towel. "I would offer you a shower, but I know you said something about how it isn't good to shower when you've heard thunder within the last thirty minutes." Griffin explains, handing him the towel and change of clothes. "Yeah, it's something weird with how it can transfer through the water. But, thanks, I'll be right back." Billy says, walking off to the half bath down the hall. He returns a few moments later, with dry(er) hair and dry clothing.

"Wanna tell me what you came over for?" Griffin asks once Billy takes a seat next to him on the couch. "I'm curious." "About?" "I know you say you're not. But I'm curious as to why you're worried I'll leave." "Oh. I mean I just, it's like, you know." "From the lack of friends in your adolescence and how the few you made left, and how you weren't ever valued when you were younger?" Billy guesses from the little that gave him. "Yes, exactly. Thank you." Billy just nods, before going "I can't promise you I do get it, but I promise you I'll try." Which, surprisingly, felt a lot better than Billy telling him he does get it, and that it won't change anything when he doesn't mean it. "Thank you." Griffin says, not even directly aimed towards just that. Just aimed towards Billy being there.

Billy lets Griffin lay on his chest, Griffin knows he isn't just doing it because Griffin needs the reassurance.

And when Griffin moves on from this, from him, he'll be okay. As long as Griffin's happy, that's all that matters.

Once Griffin's sure Billy's asleep, from how his breath's have evened out (god damn mouth breather.) he mutters a small 'I love you.' before falling asleep himself. He's sure he imagines the faint 'I love you, too.'

Griffin arrives back home from hanging out with Finney to Billy drawing doodles on his hand in his living room. "Hi?" Griffin greets, taking his shoes off and locking the front door behind him. "Hey, I'm sorry." Billy says, standing up and pressing his lips onto Griffin's. "At least take me to dinner first." Griffin says once they part, giggling slightly. "Excuse me?" "You dumbass." Griffin replies, still laughing slightly before reconnecting their lips.
