《The black phone ~imagines~》Near miss (Bruce)

I was sitting on the bench, watching Bruce play. He was so focused on the game that he didn't even realise I was cheering him on.
Once the game finished and he won, I ran onto the pitch and gave him a big hug
Bruce- my team won, you know what that means
Y/n- I have no money
Bruce- you promised
Y/n- Bruce come on
I wined attempting to get him to change his mind. I had promised that if he won I'd buy him whatever he wanted from the grab n go
Bruce- fine, I'll pay but you have to pay me back
Y/n- yay!
We ran to our bikes and started cycling through the streets. As we cycled, a silence over came us, a comfortable silence though.
Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a man with his shopping spilled all over the ground. I wanted to help him but part of me felt like something bad would happen
Bruce- we should help him
Y/n- yeah... or we could go get our slushies
Bruce- my slushie not yours
Y/n- right sorry
Bruce ignored me and set his bike down before walking over to the man. I gave him a worried look before following him
Bruce- do you need any help?
Grabber- oh yes please, could you hand me my hat
Bruce bent down to pick it up, the man took something out of his back pocket and began to shake it but stopped when he saw me behind Bruce
Y/n- we should go now
Bruce- ok
He put the last egg shell into a brown paper bag before getting up. Bruce was much taller than me so he obviously walked a lot quicker, leaving me behind
I felt the man walking behind me. I tried to walk faster but he caught up.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me back to him
Grabber- you can go with me under your own free will or I can drug you, your choice
Y/n- Bruce!
Bruce turned around, running to me. I kicked the grabber and ran into Bruce's arms. Bruce grabbed a rock before pushing me behind him, trying to protect me.
Bruce- fuck off or I'll beat your face in!
Grabber- oh I'm so scared
Y/n- he will do it
Grabber- got me shaking like a deer
I rolled my eyes at his comments
Bruce threw the rock at his face, knocking his sunglasses off. He quickly brought his hands up to his face to cover it, not wanting us to see who he was.
Bruce grabbed my arm and we ran to our bikes. We cycled down the street to the grab n go
Y/n- holy shit, we almost got kidnapped
Bruce- yeah, we would've ended up like Vance and billy and griffin
Y/n- thank god we didn't
Bruce- mhm, I think this calls for a celebration
Y/n- oh really
It seems I had a different type of celebration in mind. I leaned in to kiss him. He swerved his head, turning to the slushie machine. I stepped back, embarrassed.
Bruce- what flavour
Y/n- eh... strawberry
Bruce- good choice, I'll get blueberry
I'm pretty sure he didn't notice, at least I hope he didn't notice.
We got our slushies before sitting on a curd outside the small store
We sat silently, only this time it wasn't a comfortable silence, it was very much uncomfortable
Bruce- can I try the strawberry one
Y/n- sure
I went to hand him my slushie but instead he smashed his lips against mine. I was taken aback. I didn't know what to do. We both pulled away, the look of shock on my face making him laugh

Bruce- I think the blueberry is better
I smiled
Y/n- yeah, totally... why did you come back for me
Bruce- why wouldn't I, you owed me a slushie
Y/n- haha very funny
Bruce- no the real reason is embarrassing
Y/n- come on, it can't be more embarrassing than what happened earlier
Bruce- I don't know, I just thought about how my life would be if I lost you and I didn't like it
Y/n- oh
Bruce- I told you it's embarrassing
Y/n- no it's- ok it's a little embarrassing but I'm glad you came back because I can't imagine a life without you either
We spent the rest of the day drinking slushies and watching our backs. In a way I'm grateful for that near miss, it brought us closer together
A/n- I know no one cares but, if I've learned anything from my sun blisters, it's to always reapply your suncream. I'm on day 3 and I've still got 5 days to go till it's cleared, it's awful. My forehead feels so dry and tight like leather
