i am a sunflower

in a field of dozens.

you are the sun.

there is only one

of you,

but many of me.

when you

disappear

there

are countless flowers

hanging their heads

for you,

breaking their stems

in sorrow.

you must enjoy

controlling so many.

or maybe

it hurts you too.

but i,

and all of the others

that love you,

will never know

because

at the end of every

joyous day,

you still

disappear

into

the night.

as i turn

my face

away from you,

and lower it

to it's rightful

place,

i'll stare at the dirt

and wonder

just how many

hearts you've broken.

i refuse to believe

it's only mine.
