《second best // dnf》6. His Arrival

"I missed you too Sapnap," I joked and he pushed me away in annoyance.

"Dream... what's the time now?" Sapnap said, his voiced slightly nervous as he placed his bags down in the hallway.

I replied, "4:30 why?"

His eyes widened and he yelled, "Holy shit! We have to be at the airport in twenty minutes!"

Sapnap and I hurried to my car in the driveway. I slammed the car into ignition and began speeding down the road. The airport was thirty minutes away so it's guaranteed we were going to late to meet George.

Guilt flooded through my body at the thought that George was going to be stood all alone in the massive airport, in a whole new continent, having no idea where he's going or where the two people who were going to pick him up, are.

Sapnap was trying to get me to calm down, but I couldn't understand how he isn't stressing out about being late for George.

"Dream, he's going to be fine if we're like ten minutes late, I'm sure he'll live."

I ignored him. It was currently 4:45 and we were fifteen minutes away still. Hoping I could still get there on time, I went a lot over the speed limit.

"Woooaaaah! Dream slow down you're gonna kill us!"

Several passing cars honked their horns at me as I sped past them; annoyed faces glared at me through the their windows.

After what seemed like forever, I pulled into the airport parking lot. We rushed out of the car, smashed the car doors shut and sprinted to the airport.

Sapnap was at my side and we were both panting and red-faced. I rubbed my hands against my flustered face as I realised that George's flight had already gotten off the plane. Our eyes frantically searched the airport for him.

The airport was heaving with thousands of people. Sapnap and I pushed and squeezed past all of the sweaty people still looking for him. Then, I heard Sapnap sigh with relief and pointed his finger to a corner of the airport.

There was George. He looked annoyed, and particulary small amongst all of the strangers, as he was slumped on the floor in a corner, scrolling on his phone. His suitcase at his side. Sapnap made his way over to him and before George had a chance to see who it was, he wrapped him up on a hug, lifted him off the ground, letting his feet dangle in the air.

"Oh! Hey Sapnap," George laughed as he squirmed in Sapnap grip.

Eventually he put him down and I approached George.

I've never shown George my face; I never felt the need to and it just seemed really awkward. Like, what would I say? Hey George here's my face. That's just weird. So basically, he's never seen my face before.

"Hello George."

"Dream!" he exclaimed coming over to me.

"You are very tall," he went on his tip-toes and whispered in my ear.

"You are very short," I countered.

"Your face is alright I guess, nothing special," he shrugged, with a grin.

I smiled, blushing red, "Ditto."

Sapnap faked cleared his throat and I pulled myself away from George; Sapnap taunted, "Yikes George you look like hell!"

"Sapnap!" I yelled, punching him lightly in the shoulder.

George yawned, "A stupid baby was sat behind me and oh my God it literally didn't stop the crying the whole flight!"

I rubbed his back and the three of us started making our way back to the car, George dragging his suitcase behind him while Sapnap and I desperately apologised about being late.

We piled into the car, Sapnap sat in the front with me and George climbed in the back and sprawled out over the back seat. I set off for the drive home.

Five minutes into the journey, Sapnap looked behind and started laughing. I turned to face him and he was pointing a finger at George.

"We've literally been driving for like five minutes and he's asleep! What an asshole!" he snickered.

I looked at him and chuckled. His head was resting on his suitcase which was perched on the back seat and dark sweeps of his hair covered his eyes.

"He's so cute when he sleeps," Sapnap chuckled and I felt my face grown hot.

I was absolutely not having this conversation with Sapnap . Not now. Not ever. If I did, I just know I'd accidentally say something I'd regret and embarrass myself. Usually I'd tell everything to Sapnap, even when we were kids, but I really don't want to tell him that i'm in love with our best friend. Especially, if the way I tell him is saying George is cute when he sleeps. And obviously, Sapnap meant it in a 'jokey friend way' when to me, it's so much more than that.

When I pulled up at my house twenty minutes later, George was still asleep, lying against his suitcase. I got out of the car and walked around the back to wake up George. Opening the door, I leaned down and gently started prodding at his shoulder. He didn't even stir.

Then, SapNap got out and yelled extremely loudly, "GEORGE WAKE UPPP!"

George awoke with a gasp and bolted upright to see Sapnap and I stood over him. He frowned and grumbled, "That was mean. You didn't have to wake me up like that."

I couldn't stop myself from laughing. His hair was a messy, brown mop on his head and he looked annoyed. Grabbing George's bags, I lugged them from the car and moved out the way so he could get out.

On the way inside, George and Sapnap spoke about jet lag and were giggling about how I was supposedly 'rich'.

George gawped at the inside of the house and began showering me with compliments about it and I smiled at how polite he was being. He unzipped his coat, revealing the clothes he was wearing.

A black Dream hoodie. George was wearing my hoodie and was stood in my house.
