《》Year 5.15

Hey, a real chapter this time. I'll keep the note up for a while though.
Harry kept his head lowered as Sirius spoke with Snape. Neither of them sounded angry, but that just made it all the more worse. He knew it had been a stupid idea to leave the school. Of course, it was. But Sirius nearly died.
So did George, whispered a small voice in the back of his head.
Shut up, he told himself.
And Moony could've gone the same way. Or worse.
Shut up!
"Harry?"
That wasn't a voice in his head. Harry looked up to see the adults had finished talking and were now standing over him.
"Snape just told me you Stunned him and left to get your friends, is that correct?" Sirius said, his arms crossed.
Harry nodded. "Yes."
"And then you dragged said friends knowingly into danger," Sirius added.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"I thought Bellatrix was going to kill you," Harry whispered. "I couldn't let that happen."
"The Order was going to take care of it."
"Did a pretty shitty job," Harry muttered.
Sirius paused. "Excuse me?"
"You almost died."
"And your friends could have, too."
Harry flinched but barreled on. "The visions didn't stop right then. I thought you'd been overwhelmed by the Death Eaters. You were still being tortured, Remus was bleeding out, and I had no way of knowing whether they were real or not this time!"
Sirius sighed, running a hand over his face. He couldn't stay angry at him for long. "What's done is done. Remus and I will handle your punishment when we get home."
Harry nodded. He deserved it.
"Will George be okay?" he asked. He and Remus were in the hospital wing getting treated.
"It'll be a while before he gets out of the hospital wing, but yes. He'll live." Sirius could see Harry's mind was preoccupied with something else. "Harry?"
"What I don't understand," Harry began, "is why that orb was so important in the first place."
He lifted his head in time to see something flash in Snape's eyes. Something heavy settled in Harry's stomach. "What is it?"
"There was a prophecy," Snape admitted. "The Dark Lord heard it and went after you."
"How did he learn of it?"
Snape closed his eyes. "I told him."
Harry stared. "You told him?!"
Snape flinched.
"And what did the prophecy say?" Harry had stood up and was now stalking closer.
"I only heard part of it," Snape admitted, taking an unconscious step back. "I do not know the entire thing."
"Well, what part did you hear?" Harry demanded.
"Harry," said Sirius warningly, but Harry took no notice.
Snape swallowed. "'The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies...'"

Harry waited, but Snape didn't say any more. "That's it? He came after me based on that? I thought you and Mum were friends."
"We were, Harry, but —"
"You sent Voldemort after her!" Harry spat. "You didn't stop to think maybe the prophecy could have meant me? I mean, I know you didn't have a high opinion of my dad at the time, but you still cared for my mum. Or so I thought."
"I know that now!" Snape snapped, all the more angry because Harry was saying exactly what had been clawing at him all these years.
"Yeah, well it's a bit late," Harry said snidely. He glanced at Sirius. "And you knew." It wasn't a question. "You and Remus."
"We did," Sirius admitted heavily.
"And you're okay with the fact that he —" he pointed at Snape — "is part of the reason why your best friend is dead?"
"I'm not happy about it," Sirius said, a hint of anger bleeding into his voice, "but Snape is doing what he can to make up for it and that's what counts for me. And Remus."
He sounded so much calmer, so accepting, that Harry felt fresh anger course through him. But he forced himself to calm down, clearing his mind as if he were getting ready for an Occlumency lesson. When he spoke, his voice was cool. "I need to think."
"Harry," Snape began, taking a step toward him.
Harry's look had him freezing in his tracks. "Fuck you. And just — just stay away from me." He raced out without another glance back.
He didn't know where he was going, only that he needed to be as far away from Snape as possible. And Remus and Sirius. They knew, yet they never told Harry. Had they even planned on telling him?
It wasn't until he heard the gentle voice say "Enter," that he realized he had gone all the way to the headmaster's office.
"Well, Harry," said Dumbledore as Harry came in, "you will be pleased to hear that none of the Order members are going to suffer lasting damage from the night's events. And Voldemort was seen in the Atrium. Cornelius Fudge cannot deny his return anymore."
"That's good to hear," Harry said, eyes not meeting Dumbledore's.
Dumbledore peered closer. "What is wrong, my boy?"
"Nothing."
"What has upset you?"
"I'm not upset."
"Harry, you may have grown skilled in Occlumency —"
"Professor Snape!" Harry shouted, his previous calm gone in another burst of anger. "He told Voldemort about the prophecy. He's the reason my parents are dead!" And then his mind flashed back to the Shrieking Shack in his third year. Sirius had said that Pettigrew was the reason for the Potters' murder. Snape had looked briefly uncomfortable and now Harry knew why.

"When did you find out about this?" Dumbledore asked.
"Just now!" Harry could not stop himself from screaming the next words. "AND YOU LET HIM TEACH HERE AND HE TOLD VOLDEMORT TO GO AFTER MY MUM AND DAD!"
"Harry, listen to me. Professor Snape made a terrible mistake. He was still in Lord Voldemort's employ on the night he heard the first half of Professor Trelawney's prophecy. Naturally, he hastened to tell his master what he had heard, for it concerned his master most deeply. But he did not know — he had no possible way of knowing — which boy Voldemort would hunt from then onwards, or that the parents he would destroy in his murderous quest were people that Professor Snape knew, that they were your mother and father —"
"He hated my dad at the time," Harry pointed out.
"You have no idea of the remorse Professor Snape felt when he realised how Lord Voldemort had interpreted the prophecy, Harry. I believe it to be the greatest regret of his life and the reason that he returned —"
"I trusted him," Harry choked out. "I — I still do. But I feel like I shouldn't."
"No, Harry. Trust your instincts. I trust Severus Snape completely."
Harry looked at him and nodded slightly. "He didn't even hear the whole thing."
"No, he did not. I, however, heard it on a cold, wet night sixteen years ago, in a room above the bar at the Hog's Head inn."
He retrieved a basin and removed a memory with his wand. Sybill Trelawney's figure rose from the Pensieve.
"'The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies...'"
"Me? I have to... vanquish Voldemort?" Harry rasped. "Or, wait." He thought furiously for a moment. "Neville. He could have gone after Neville."
"That is true, Harry," Dumbledore said, "but as you know, Voldemort only heard the first part."
Harry suddenly felt exhausted. "May I leave, sir?"
Dumbledore nodded, and Harry slowly exited the office, mind whirling from what he had just learned.
HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED RETURNS
"Well, it's about bloody time!" Harry muttered as he read the article.
"'A lone voice of truth... perceived as unbalanced, yet never wavered in his story... forced to bear ridicule and slander...'" Luna read.
Fred rolled his eyes. "And who did the ridiculing and slandering?"
"Doesn't matter now," Harry said. "Lucius Malfoy is gone, and I'm not delusional anymore."
But he couldn't help but look over at the Slytherin table. He locked eyes with Draco for a second before Draco averted his gaze.
Snape hadn't attempted to talk to Harry ever since he had stormed out of the office, but Harry could feel his dark eyes on him. Even now, Snape kept flitting his gaze onto Harry, who finally got sick of it.
He stood up despite having barely eaten. "I'm going to see how George is doing."
"I'll see you later?" Fred said uncertainly, but Harry didn't reply.
George was reading the Daily Prophet when Harry dropped in. Remus was sitting on the other side. He looked up hopefully as Harry walked in, only to droop as he completely ignored him in favor of George.
"Hey." Harry pulled a chair up and sat down next to George.
"You're in a mood," George noted, placing the papers on his lap. "What's wrong?"
"A lot of things," Harry answered, not elaborating.
George's eyes flickered to Remus and back, but he had the sense not to push it. "I'll be glad to get out of this damn place," he muttered, wincing and placing a hand on his ribs.
"And that is one of things that's wrong," Harry muttered.
"What, that I'm injured? I'll be fine," George said. "Look, Harry, I'm the one who decided to come along. You didn't force me. Or Fred. Or Luna. We came because we care."
Harry looked at George's unusually serious face and nodded. "I know. And I'm grateful you did. All of you."
George shifted around, wincing again. "Fred and I are thinking of buying premises in Diagon Alley. You'll have to come visit."
A smile made its way on Harry's face. "I will. When I can."
George grinned. "Well, write to us when you can come. Fred will want to surprise you probably."
"Then do me a favor and try to reel him in."
"You got it."
Harry stood and began to walk out.
"Harry?" Remus called.
Harry stopped short. "How are you feeling?" he asked brusquely.
"I'm all right, I should be out by the Leaving Feast —"
"Good," Harry broke in before continuing on.
George waited until Harry was gone before asking, "What did you do to make him mad?" He knew how close Harry was to his parents, so seeing them like this was unnerving.
Remus shook his head. "It's what we didn't do," he answered heavily, and George fell silent.
What do you think of Harry's anger toward Snape? His dads? Was it realistic?
Fifth year is over unless you count the summer, in which there will be one or two chapters. And then sixth year, one year closer to the end whooo!

[Archive] Legend of the Nameless Hero
A WhiteSamurai original Web Novel There are always the mysterious tales of heroes, those who fight against the Demons, who fight for justice and those who head mighty quests against tyranny. Heroes that are born to destiny, Heroes that are forged through tragedy, and Heroes that are brought to the world in times of great peril and strife. Not all true Heroes are wanted or beloved, but all life understands, that throughout all time and space, for those who truly stand as Heroes, they never need to be called one. The sands of time are the only true judge for those who journey upon the true path, the only one they will ever need. This is the tale, no, the Legend, the Legend of the one who throughout all time, would forever be, the First Hero. This is Their story, a story of true hardship, of a sorrow greater than any other that would stand as a symbol of inspiration no matter the test of time. A tale of darkness, a true curse, an impending evil hidden beyond the horizons that threatened the very future of existence. This is the tale, of one of the few great figures, who, in the face of true evil, continued to stand. . . . _______________________________________________________________ :Disclaimer: _______________________________________________________________ . . . All Chapters are subject to sudden revision, scrapping, or complete removal from the canonical storyline. The author of "Legend of the Nameless Hero" uses RoyalRoad as a method of experimentation with genre's and writing styles for Fantasy-style works for the sake of eventual publication. The end result isn't to release perfect chapters on RoyalRoadl, but eventually develop the story as intended using the best material to produce the highest quality work. The best mentality when reading works from WhiteSamurai is to see it as the ability to read and review pre-release transcripts or "Rough Copies" before publication. Viewer discretion and maturity are both requested and required. . . . _______________________________________________________________ :About: _______________________________________________________________ . . . This story follows direct character point of views along with an intentional third person narrative to explain to the readers what the characters won't. (I don't use my characters to go give extensive explanations for every last thing like EVERYTHING DOES) This tale shall encompass the life of the Hero from the moment she is summoned into the Kingdom of Kremor, to the Legendary Final Clash. This isn't your run of the mill hack and slash raise an army and conquer, I don't follow that bandwagon. Real life holds politics, intrigue, economics, structure, populations, civil opinions, history, psychology, heart, suffering, wonder, advancement, curiosity, ambition, and so many more things that would lead to me hitting some character limit. I refuse to take the same route that others use by simply ignoring these factors, my worlds, my stories, are as real as they get. There's no plot armor here, if someone screws up, they've screwed up and there's no magical sword in a well for them. I write in 'Seasons' not 'Books' as many often do, these are generally, not always, hundreds of chapters long, though as I have yet to finish a season, the average length is in the air. I go by an ideal of what I call 'Universal Lore' which includes the policy that things that exist within the story don't follow the rule where the Protagonist needs to be there so that it will happen. There will be some things that will happen, and the hero, and sometimes the reader, won't know happened until they enter a place, or news gets to them. A person needs to be in the right place at the right time, I hate plot holes and meta characters above all else... For my works, comments are practically demanded as reactions, thoughts, and various viewpoints are like sweet fuel to my writing spirit. Reviews are highly accepted and appreciated, BUT ONLY IF THEY ARE EDUCATED AND THOROUGHLY EXPLAINED. Those that throw down a low rating ARE HIGHLY REQUESTED to extensively detail and explain their viewpoints on the work. They should also be willing to come back to the work at a later date if messaged by the Author, Me, due to issues they mentioned being taken care of. I'm never against scrapping a chapter or rewriting several paragraphs if there are character or story discrepancies. I want the highest quality work possible, and every comment, every review, are tools for me to use to further that goal. . . . Enjoy the work. ~White Status: (Ongoing)
