I... have been waiting... for five-ever to get to this part

As Fred had predicted, Harry was able to produce a Patronus for a bonus point. The doe came soaring out of his wand and pranced around the room before fading away.

"Excellent!" said Professor Tofty, the wizard overseeing the Defense Against the Dark Arts exam. "Very well, Potter, you may go!"

And the next day, Harry went in for History of Magic. He went through the questions as fast as he dared, skipping a couple that he couldn't immediately think of an answer for.

The scratching of quills all around him vanished abruptly. He was in the Department of Mysteries again. This time, he wasn't alone. There was a figure lying on the floor, moving feebly.

"Crucio!"

The man on the floor screamed and writhed on the floor until the curse was lifted.

"Lord Voldemort is waiting..."

Sirius lifted his head. "You'll be waiting a long time, then. So why don't you just kill me?"

"Undoubtedly I shall in the end," said the cold voice. "But you will fetch it for me first, Black... you think you have felt pain thus far? Think again... we have hours ahead of us and nobody to hear you scream..."

Harry let out a shout and fell out of his seat, scar searing with pain.

When he opened his eyes, Remus stood above him, brown eyes wide. "Are you all right, Harry?" he demanded urgently. "Professor Tofty said it was just pressure of examinations, but I knew it was more than —"

"Voldemort has Sirius," Harry said, cutting him off.

If possible, Remus went even paler. "No," he whispered. "He can't have."

"What is it?" Harry asked.

"Sirius went out to Diagon Alley earlier this morning," Remus said. "He hadn't been back since."

Something heavy dropped in Harry's stomach. "You don't think Voldemort — do you?"

Remus hesitated; Harry could almost see his mind whirling. "Stay here," he ordered briskly. "I'm going to contact Dumbledore, and we'll take care of it."

Harry nodded. Remus gave him a quick hug and left.

Harry began to pace. Voldemort could not take Sirius from him, he just couldn't.

Soft footsteps made him turn. Snape stood there, eyes filled with concern.

"Where's Remus?"

"He and a few Order members have gone to get Black," Snape answered.

"Do you think he'll be okay?" Harry asked, begging Snape to say yes.

Snape hesitated. "I don't know," he admitted.

They waited in silence for some time. Harry continuing pacing, too fired up to calm down.

Then the room disappeared and he was back in the dark corridor.

Sirius' body was shaking badly and when he spoke, his voice was hoarse. "Is that the best you got?"

In answer, Voldemort cast a spell nonverbally. Sirius arched his back and screamed again.

"Harry!" Snape had grabbed a hold of him. "You have to pull yourself together!"

Harry tried, but then a new vision assaulted him. Remus was lying on the floor, blood seeping out of deep cuts in his body.

"No!!" Harry's eyes snapped open and he ran for the door, only for Snape's arms to wrap around him. "Let me go! Remus could be bleeding out right now!"

"Lupin is a smart man. He knows how to fight, this is probably a fake vision," Snape said, struggling to contain Harry.

A small part of Harry told him Snape was probably right, but the other part, the one screaming for him to help, said otherwise. "You don't know that for sure!"

He stomped down hard on Snape's foot and heard him gasp. His arms loosened their hold and Harry wrenched himself free and pulled out his wand. "Stupefy!"

Snape slumped over unconscious.

For a moment, Harry stared down at him guiltily. Then he remembered his visions and forgot about Snape as he whipped around and took off.

Remus winced as the spell sliced through his cheek and wiped away the blood that was now seeping from the gash. "Why are you here?" he demanded. "Where is Voldemort?"

"You dare speak his name?" Bellatrix hissed.

"How ironic that you're too afraid to," Remus retorted. "It's not that difficult, you see. Volde —"

"STUPEF —"

"NO!" Lucius' voice caught Remus off guard briefly.

The red light shattered several glass orbs a foot away from Remus' head.

"Don't smash it!" Lucius shouted, apparently unaware that the orb with Harry's prophecy had been one of those that had been smashed.

"He dared —" Bellatrix was nearly incoherent with rage. "He dares —"

Remus glanced at the shattered orb, which had a smoky figure of Trelawney coming out. With all the other prophecies being spoken at the same time, he could not make out her words.

"Remus, look out!" Tonks screamed.

Remus turned and sprang out of the way of the blinding flash of light, which shattered even more orbs.

"Where are the others?" Remus demanded, realizing that he and Tonks were the only Order members he could see.

"Looking for Sirius. I last saw Moody in that room with the planets... Anyway, he'll be fine. Come on."

They took off and found the rest of the Order in a room with a large stone archway. The Death Eaters had also found their way there and now the battle was resuming with everyone present.

Remus caught sight of Tonks fighting Dolohov. The Death Eater made a slashing motion that Remus recognized as one of Dolohov's creations. "Incarcerous!" Remus shouted, throwing Dolohov off his feet before he could complete the spell. Black cords wrapped around him tightly.

"Nice one!" Tonks said. Her eyes landed on something beyond Remus. "Oh no."

Remus followed her gaze. His breath caught in his throat when he saw Sirius kneeling at Bellatrix's feet. There were multiple bruises on his face and a cut along his cheek, yet he still struggled, snarling viciously.

"Get the prophecy or he dies," Bellatrix whispered, tightening her hold on Sirius.

Remus looked at Sirius, then back at Tonks. The metamorphmagus looked just as lost as he did.

Sirius was shouting now, shaking his head even as Bellatrix pressed her wand against his throat. "Don't give it to her!" His words barely discernible around the rag stuffed in his mouth but the message was clear.

All around, the Death Eaters and Order members were frozen. With a jolt, Remus realized they were waiting for him to make his next move.

Remus swallowed. The prophecy had been destroyed. There was no way he could fix it and as soon as Bellatrix realized this...

"No?" Bellatrix said. "Very well." She raises her wand. "Avada —"

"No!"

Remus spun around at the new voice.

"Harry!"

Plot twists, canon deviation, and cliffhangers. We all love those, don't we?
