《(Discontinued) Outer Banks | JJ x reader》Part 26

I quite literally cried myself to sleep after a while. Kie woke me up later when it was dark outside.
"Are you okay?" was the first thing she asked me. I shook my head as I sat up. "No." I laughed.
"Why are you back here, I thought you were going to your parents." I said. "Well," Kie sat down beside me. "I got kicked out of my house." She said quietly, playing with her fingers.
"Oh." I said. "I'm so sorry... they'll come to their senses, though. They wouldn't kick you out." "Yeah. Hopefully." Kie replied.
We heard the door open after that and looked at each other before walking out of my room. It was just Pope.
"Oh." He realized my eyes were red and puffy and Kie was in a bad mood. "Mom snapped, got booted," I pointed to Kie to explain and walked over to the kitchen and got a water.
"What?" Pope asked as he walked in. "It's not a big deal. We got stuff to figure out anyway." Kie replied and sat down on the couch.
"Can I just stay here for a couple days?" She asked me as if I would say no. I nodded as I drank water.
"You know, if you guys ever need a place to stay you can always come stay with me." Pope told us both. He's so sweet honestly. We both just gave him a small smile.
"How did things go with you?" Kie asked Pope. He sat down in front of her. "Well... Pops was upset." He said. "Upset? After you left his truck in Charleston? What for?" I asked sarcastically and sat down on the other side of the couch.
"Uh, you know, I'm actually trying to figure that out myself. I cant really see any reason..." Pope replied, making us all chuckle.
"But, um, I did ask him about the key, and he said that his grandmother had something like that. So, I went over to great-grandmas palace, and, uh," he digged in his pants and got out a box, also sitting in between us, "I found this." He pulled out a key.

"Oh my god." Kie said as she took the key. "Holy shit, Pope!" I said as I suddenly sat up. "I know, I know, right!" Pope exclaimed.
"This is exactly what we need to get the evidence!" I told them. "I was right in the room and it came out the ceiling!" Pope exclaimed. "Oh my god." Kie repeated.
"Look at it." Pope told us, moving the key. "Is that writing? What is that?" Kie asked. "Turn the lights off." Pope replied. "Why?" I asked. "Just do it. Trust me." Pope said.
I got up and turned them off while Pope grabbed a couch cushion. "Here." He told Kie, getting her to put her hand over the cushion. "I don't see anything." Kie said. "Don't move." Pope replied and got out a flash light.
He hit the cushion and dust flew up. It created a hologram thing and the words appeared with the flashlight.
"Holy shit." I said. "I know right!" Pope replied. "How'd you even figure that out you fucking genius?" I asked. "Wait, do it again." Kie said.
He did and this time we read the words. "Path to the tomb begins in the island room." Kie repeated.
"What does that even mean?" I questioned. "So, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Denmark Tanny and an angel." Pope replied. "Cause I remember Lembrey saying something about an angel and how the key led to a cross." He continued.
"Pope, this is insane. You're freaking genius." Kie told him. "Thank you," Pope smiled.
"Kind of makes you wonder what the island room is." I said, just thinking out loud.
Basically after that, JJ called Pope and said he needed help because he actually went through with a dumb plan so Kie and Pope went and got him.
They didn't stop fighting once they got home so I just went to bed. I couldn't sleep though, I was just laying down.
The door opened after a couple of hours. I didn't look cause I suspected it was J.

"Are you awake?" He whispered. Yeah it was him. I was facing the opposite way so he couldn't see my face. "No." I replied sarcastically.
I felt the bed behind me shift, and I knew he sat down. I turned my body around to face him. He was sitting with his legs crossed for some reason, facing me already.
We didn't say anything for a second, just looking at each other in a comfortable silence.
Out of nowhere I got the sudden urge to cry again. I knew we could get John B out now but so much has been bottled up for such a long time it just wanted out.
One tear came out and JJ immediately wiped it off with his finger. He laid down now, facing me still. He didn't move his hand and was now just gently rubbed my face with his thumb.
"It's gonna be okay." He said quietly. I wrapped my arms around his waist and moved closer to him, just wanting his presence. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me even closer somehow.
After a while I felt his hand start rubbing my back. He always was there for me man, and I was such a horrible person to him. I could never repay him.
His presence helped me go to sleep which was really nice.

The next morning, they all were still arguing so I just laid in bed for a long time. Finally I got up and got dressed and went outside where they all were.
JJ was waxing his board, Kie was strumming a ukulele on the chair, and Pope was working on something over a table.
"That's a lot of wax on your board man. Put too much wax and it's gonna be slippery." Pope told JJ. "You telling me how to wax my board Pope?"
JJ replied with an attitude.
"No I'm just saying that's a lot of wax." Pope said, emphasizing a lot. "No, no, no, you're telling me how to wax my board. Are you kidding me?" J asked him. "I'm not I'm just saying that's a colossal waste of wax." Pope continued.
"Guys, really?" I asked them. I just got out of bed and they were still fighting. They both looked at me and stopped.
Faintly, I heard a car honk. Not just any car honk. The van.
"Did you hear that?" J asked us.
I immediately walked out to the front. Oh my god it was the van. Not only that, John B was driving it.
"Hold on. Am I dreaming?" JJ asked. "Are you serious?!" Kie said at the same time.
"No." I said in disbelief but with a smile on my face. JB got out of the van. "Guess who's out of the clink, boy!" He yelled as he started walking up to us.
"No fucking way man." I said as I hugged him. "No way." Pope also said. "My boys out of the can!" JJ exclaimed as Kie just yelled.
It ended up in a group hug. "We missed you." Kie told him. "I missed you guys too." JB replied.
"How'd you do it?" JJ asked as we pulled apart from the hug. "You bust out?"
"Uh, they dropped the charges." John B replied. "They dropped the charges." Pope repeated with a smile. "Dude that's phenomenal." Kie said.
"So you're telling me I did all that work for nothing?" JJ asked and I'm assuming he was talking about his "master plan". "Oh, the most elaborate escape plan of all time?" Pope questioned.
"Foolproof." Kie quoted. "Yeah, it was." J replied.
"Wait, where's Sarah?" John B asked, cutting them off. We all looked at each other. I just realized she never came back from last night.
"No no... where's Sarah?" John B repeated. "She went to go meet Wheezie last night." Kie told him. "She didn't come back." I added.

Triquetra: A Multi-Class Isekai or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Accept the End of the Multiverse
Triquetra: An Multi-Class Isekei Adventure I know, I know, you have heard it all before. Yes I was hit by a truck. Yes I ended up in a Fantastical World suspiciously similar to one of my favorite RPG’s. Yes I had access to cheats no one else possessed. Yes it was a world of classes and levels and magic powers. Finally, yes I was an overweight middle-aged loser failing to live up to my potential. Given my eclectic reading habits I should have been better prepared. Unfortunately I was not. Sure I could multi-class with reduced penalties, but my starting class was Scholar! No combat abilities and very limited spellcasting. My HUD interface costs mana to use, and my universal translation seemed to be outsourced to Giggle Translate. I’m supposed to be an OP MC! Not a slice-o- life struggling to survive in the wilderness. Not to mention the Arch-Magus who summoned me, mistimed everything, I arrived 300 years too late, after the fall of the Empire I was supposed to save. The surviving remnants have devolved into Murder Hobos. What’s worse is that the Great Devourer, Ancient Calamity, and Spawn from the Void Beyond Time, Space, and Sanity is now aware of a new world to plunder, a world called Dirt! (Told you this translator sucks) Warning Extra Crunchy Authorial Vebosity! Lots of infodump in the early chapters, but I learn my lesson and it does get better, eventually. I do not own the Cover image, found it on a free image site.

I will not be eaten
Litchi is your ordinary Royal Road addict. She can’t resist the call of a new chapter even when she needs to work. Because of too many new responsibilities she promises one week without reading. Sadly, she cracks in three days, because of an Azarinth Healer notification. Taking out her phone she starts avidly reading. It’s just a small promise, she will try it another time. Nothing should happen. Say that to the goblin that tries to eat your face, Litchi! You should keep your promise! She was used to food jokes on her name but it seems that this time her destiny is to be eaten. ---- Hello future reader! I didn’t find a new good isekai so why not create my own? I am an RR addict and amateur writer (in French) and today I decided to publish a story. You will have my eternal gratitude for any advice or constructive comments on the story! One of my objectives is to have developed characters, duo or trio make a fantastic way to character growth. So, I will try to create a deep relationship between a few of them. The first few chapters have a lot of combat, but other characters will soon arrive. Those first few chapters are made to build tension and create Litchi's first motivations. This story has the plot written to the end and important characters already shaped. This story is short in comparison to the majority of RR fantasy stories. Update every two days until I have no more chapters in my pocket. Average chapter length: 2200 words Warning: The grammar can be bad, IMPORTANT CHARACTERS CAN (Will) DIE, contain philosophical conversation as the characters stumble upon morals dilemmas. I hope I will see you soon in the comments and thank you in advance for reading Litchi’s journey. Have a nice day! :)
