《(Discontinued) Outer Banks | JJ x reader》Part 20

When we woke up, Kie and Pope realized how we slept but didn't say a word. JJ and I didn't say anything either. We all just got up and left again after the truck was fixed.
After driving under the Charleston straight ahead sign, it kinda hit me hard again that John B and Sarah were gone again.
"Wonder where John B and Sarah are right now." I wondered out loud. We all looked at each other but stayed quiet again. There's a recurring theme with the Pogues that we like to mourn in quiet.
Kie informed us about the Limbreys while we drove to the house and how rich they were. "These Kooks make our Kooks look like Pogues." I said as we drove up to an extremely nice house.
"You sure this is the place, Pope?" JJ asked. "Pretty sure." Pope replied. "Alright," JJ opened the door where he was sitting in the front.
We all got out and went up to the gate. "Top notch security. Were these spikes made to keep people out?" JJ questioned. "No." Kie said quietly. "The slave quarters were over there. They were to keep people in." Pope added.
Pope walked up to the door first and knocked a little. "You think that was too much?" He asked after knocking like 5 times, stepping back to stand beside me. "It echoed the entire house. That's for sure." I replied.
"Maybe no ones home." Kie suggested as no one answered. Pope knocked again and a man opened the door.
He ran his eyes over all of us then looked at Pope. "You must be Pope," he said. "Uh, are you Mr. Limbrey?" Pope asked.
"Ms. Limbrey was expecting you yesterday." The man replied, emphasizing Ms. "Oh, I'm sorry. My car broke down on the way up here." Pope defended. "Carburetor blew up in the middle of Nowheresville. Sorry about that." I added.

The man stared at me for a while. "John Booker Routledge's twin, I'm guessing." He said. It pissed me off that he used his full name. No one said John Booker anymore, not after our dad died. "Pleasure." I replied sarcastically, making the man roll his eyes.
"Yeah, she was, uh, real upset when you didn't show up." The man told Pope now. "We tried to call, but there's no number on the invitation." Kie said. "We got here as fast as we could." She added.
"She also wanted you to come alone," the man kept pushing. "I mean, these are my friends. They helped find the Royal Merchant too. So I-" the man cut Pope off. "The instructions were explicit. Your friends can stay outside."
"Well we're kind of a package deal-" Pope cut JJ off this time. "JJ. It's okay. I got this." He said. "I'll be good." He added. "Yeah. We'll be right here." Kie replied.
"Keep the car running." Pope told us, squeezing Kie's hand. "Yep." Kie replied.
JJ, Kie, and I sat in the car talking for a while until Pope came out with the man from before and a woman using crutches.
"Look, if Limbrey is legit, then Ward gets arrested, and maybe Sarah gets the gold." Kie said as they came out, still talking from our previous conversation.
"Does that look voluntary?" Kie asked as I realized the man had an arm on Popes shoulder. "That would be a negative." JJ replied.
"Come on," I started opening the door but J put a hand on my shoulder, stopping me. "Wait hold on, hold on." He said. "They're going into the alley."
"Go round back?" Kie questioned. "Yeah. We'll meet them on the other side." JJ replied. "Be chill." Kie told us. "Yeah." JJ and I said at the same time.

"Where did they go?" Kie wondered out loud as we went behind but didn't see them in the alley.
"What if they went underground? Cause in CHUD, when they took people down into the sewers, it would turn the humans into humanoids cause of the radiation and then all of a sudden-" I cut JJ off, saying, "JJ focus that doesn't make any sense."
"Right, sorry." He replied. "Did you see him?" JJ asked us. "No." Kie and I replied.
Then I heard grunting. "Stop the truck." I told JJ immediately. He did, no questions asked. I jumped out, running through an alley to the grunts, seeing Pope and the man fighting.
Pope was on top of him but the man was reaching for a taser. I kicked it away and Kie caught it, her and JJ standing where I ran in from. "Come on!" JJ yelled.
"Pope, come on!" I told him. JJ and Kie started running back out to get the truck started. He punched the man once before jumping over a stone fence. I followed him next.
We jumped into the truck where JJ already had the car started again. All of us were yelling about it. "That was crazy as shit, lets get out of here now." Pope told us.
JJ drove like a maniac getting out of there, going down a one-way road which wasn't our way. But then I saw a car behind us. "I think he's following us." I told them.
"This is a one way." Pope noted. "Go that way." He told JJ. "This is a one way!" Pope and I yelled as there was a car I front of us. "Turn now!" Pope kept yelling.
JJ did, almost running over people that ran off the side. "Those were people!" Pope yelled. "Jesus Christ!" Kie exclaimed.
"That was evasive drive technique right there, y'all." JJ said. "Where are we going?" Pope asked. "Hang on I'm gonna loose him." JJ said. He whipped the truck hard into a road. "Dude!" Kie and I said as we slammed into each other.
The engine started hissing. "You said he fixed the carburetor!" JJ said. "No." Kie repeated as the car stopped. "Damn it!" She said.
"Okay, what now, Mario?" I asked JJ and Pope as we got out of the car. "Number one rule. Never trust mechanics!" JJ exclaimed.
"We gotta go now!" I yelled as the car pulled up. "Go!" JJ repeated as we started running. "Guys I think he has a gun!" I shouted at them. "Shit, get down!" Pope yelled.
"I think I'm cramping!" Pope said, making me laugh almost. "This way! We might have to split up!" JJ told us. "No genius!" I yelled back. JJ ran directly into boxes, flying them everywhere.
"Watch out! Jesus! Shit!" We all were yelling. "Sorry about that!" JJ yelled to a man who seemed pissed off about the boxes as we kept running.
"Here!" Kie told us as we ran into an alley. We all just kept yelling.
Then we ran out of the alley. Turning, there was a bike thing in the way. We all stoped.
My heart dropped. John B. Sarah. John b and Sarah were on the bike.
