《Blackstone Inc. (Book 1)》Part 39

"What are you doing here, Preston," Dominic asked, his hand still on my back even though Jasmine was, literally, standing right beside me.

I gazed up at Preston and now I realized why I was comparing him so hard to Dominic and it was because, of course, they were brothers. I didn't want to see it at first, but they bore a striking resemblance and it was no wonder this man was making me weak in the knees.

"Brothers," I muttered, looking into Prestons eyes.

I couldn't deal with three Blackstones. I proved untrustworthy with the female... I didn't want to know what would happen if the new one in front of me gave me a command.

"Why are you here," Dominic asked and Preston looked up from my eyes to his brother.

"What? I couldn't drop by and say 'hi' to my favorite brother?"

The smirk on Preston's face said everything but that he was here for Dominic.

"I find that hard to believe since the last thing I heard you detested me and thought your branch was more successful."

"I could never detest you, brother. Who, then, would I turn to in times of crisis, if I needed advice, if I were to fall on hard times?"

He chuckled as if he didn't believe what was coming from his mouth either, "I've come here to give my money to charity, if you must know. I just decided that I needed this woman more than I needed a boat or a piece of art."

His eyes were on me with his last sentence.

I heard Dominic growl and press himself into me, "She's not for sale. Go steal from one of the others. I'm sure our siblings will be happy to see you."

"There are more of you," I asked quietly. My heart couldn't take any more smirking, brooding, amber-eyed dominants.

Preston looked down at me and gave me that famous 'Blackstone smirk', "Yes, there are five of us. I did hear about your encounter with Katherine. She tells me you are quite the princess. Is that true?"

So much was happening at that moment. Five of them?! I'd have to thank their parents personally if they all look like Dominic, Preston, and Katherine.

"Five," I whispered. I was mesmerized and completely fucked as I felt Dominic pinch a bit of skin on my back, making me yelp.

"You want to dance," Preston asked, smirk still present on his lips, his knuckles running up my arm.

I heard Jasmine huff and storm off, but I hadn't looked away from Preston's eyes.

"Leave her alone, Preston," Dominic's voice was low and commanding.

"Only if she wants, brother. Though I did pay for her." He lifted his eyes to Dominic, who had moved to my side when Jasmine left.

"I'll pay you back. You won't get anywhere near her alone. She belongs to me," Dominic's voice was a low murmur now, but I could hear the venom in his words.

"She looks to be mine right now," Preston looked back down at me and grabbed my hand. I hadn't looked away from him yet.

The whole family looks like that? Remind me to never go to any holiday events. I'd be spread out on the dinner table.

"You wanna dance with me, Princess?"

"No," Dominic's husky voice was in my ear and I finally turned to look at him. I felt a feeling of familiarity. I felt a feeling of security with him.

"No," I whimpered.

"No, Princess," he murmured and tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

"I am owed a date, brother, and I will get one. Genevieve," Preston spoke in front of me, his hand squeezing mine.

I looked back at him and waited for him to finish, "I'll keep in touch and I will see you next Saturday. Is that understood?"

'Shit.'

"Yes, Sir."

Dominic growled.

Sorry Dominic, but if you wanna keep your little girlfriend for business purposes then maybe I'd get a boyfriend for business purposes.

"You do listen so well. I'll be seeing you, Kitten."

He took a step back, looked at Dominic, and then turned around and disappeared in the crowd.

I finally let out a long sigh.

"What the fuck was that, Genevieve?"

I looked back at Dominic now, "What do you mean, Sir?"

"You know exactly what the fuck I mean! Are you a slut for me or is it for anyone who looks like me and will pay you a bit of attention?"

I gasped and stepped back like I had been physically struck. I could feel the tears stinging my eyes and my heart felt too tight.

"Maybe I wouldn't be a slut for your siblings if you showed me a bit of attention in public. I'm so sick of being your secret pet. I wonder if Preston would show me off like the ′princess′ I am," I pushed past him and headed to the woman's bathroom. I had to get myself under control before my tears messed up my makeup.

"Are you sleeping with him?"

I looked up from the sink and turned to see Jasmine just walking in.

"Who?"

"Don't play dumb, Genevieve. Are you sleeping with Dominic?"

I laughed once and shook my head, "What would make you think that? I'm his assistant."

She stepped forward and leaned her hip against the counter, "Assistants sleep with their bosses all the time. Are you?"

Her demeanor was calm, her arms crossed over her chest suggested she was ready for my harsh answer.

"No, Jasmine. I'm not sleeping with Dominic."

Sometimes if I tried hard enough, I could be a good liar.

And it seemed that she was believing it.

"Do you plan to?"

"I thought he didn't like ′fat' girls..," I smirked, throwing her words back at her.

"We both see the way he looks at you. Let's be women here. Look, all I'm asking is to just please...please, leave him alone."

I scoffed, "I can't exactly leave him alone, Jasmine. He's my boss, I literally share an office with him."

She looked down and then back up at me and I recognized that look... There was a vulnerability in that look.

"I'm... I'm pregnant," she reached into her clutch and pulled out a positive pregnancy test.

My eyes widened, my throat and heart felt tight, and I rushed for the nearest stall and emptied the contents of my stomach, which wasn't much other than the glass of champagne I had.

"I knew it..," she said quietly behind me as I leaned over the toilet.

"I knew you were sleeping with him. Well, I hope now you decide to be the bigger person and leave him alone... For the sake of his family, of course."

I dry heaved at the word 'family'. Dominic was untouchable now. It was different when Jasmine was just some woman he was 'dating' for a contract, but if she was actually having his...

Well, it changes everything.

"Consider it done," I muttered loud enough for her to hear.

I heard her heels click on the tile and then the bathroom door open and shut and I was bathed in absolute silence.

I knew from the start that he was bad news and when I found out about Jasmine... I knew right then to let him go and still, I couldn't bring myself to. But...I would move on from him now.

The baby is where I draw the line. I would work for him, but there would be nothing more.

I stood up on shaking knees and made my way to the sink. I opened my clutch and pulled out a disposable tiny toothbrush preloaded with toothpaste and began brushing my teeth and tongue.

When I was done I pressed a little more powder around my mouth and applied a fresh coat of lipstick.

I sighed and pushed away from the sink, making my way to the door. I would have to go out there and face him at some point so there was no use in putting it off. I wouldn't go looking for him, but if he found me, I'd be ready.
