《Blackstone Inc. (Book 1)》Part 38

"Okay, everyone! Welcome to our 25th annual 'Kids of Dallas' charity event! What a turn out!"
We all turned as the man in the white suit was on stage. His voice came booming through the speakers on either side.
Everyone began clapping and cheering. He was lively and his voice was familiar. I was sure I had never seen him before though.
"For those of you who may not know, I'm Chet Chapland with the radio station KWQU 95.5 and it's an honor to be hosting this year!"
I guess I know him from the radio.
With all eyes on Chet, Dominic leaned over to me and whispered, "I will hurt every man who bids on you."
I chuckled, "No you won't. You'll surely out us and you won't let that happen."
I turned to him and looked into his eyes before smiling sweetly.
"It's one date, Daddy," I whispered for only him, "And it's for charity. For the kids, Sir."
He looked over my face and then sighed and turned back to the stage.
"At this time we're actually gonna start the auction! How does that sound, folks?"
We clapped and I made my way through the crowd on shaky knees.
"The first item we have is actually a date with the lovely," he paused to look at his clipboard and then smiled at the crowd, "Genevieve Carlyle. Gen, come on up here!"
The people clapped as I made my way up the steps and walked over to Chet.
His lips were parted as he looked me up and down and turned back to the crowd, "And what a looker she is, am I right, guys?"
He chuckled and held out his hand, "Pleased to meet you, Genevieve," he said away from the microphone, to me.

"You too," I said shyly.
He brought the mic back up to his lips and smiled, "Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself. Maybe your age, sign, if you're single, what you do, what your perfect partner would be, what your perfect date would be?"
He handed me the microphone and stepped back as I took center stage and looked out at the crowd of men whose eyes were on my body and whose dates eyes were glaring.
"Hi, everyone. My name is Genevieve and I'm 22," I started and then took a deep breath and looked into the eyes of the individual men as I continued.
"I am a Virgo, so I'm very organized, patient, faithful, and hardworking. I am the personal assistant of Dominic Blackstone of Blackstone Inc. Please give a round of applause for him and all that he does for this charity."
I waited as the spotlight fell to Dominic and watched as his face softened into a smile and he raised his hand to wave.
The crowd cheered and then the spotlight was back to me. I didn't know how to exactly answer the single question. I would hate to make Dominic made if I said no,... But Dominic and I weren't, technically, a couple...
"I am, unfortunately, single, but my perfect partner is probably someone who is...funny, attentive, smart, nice, strong, but also dominant. I really like a 'take charge' kind of guy. I have quite a personality so I need someone to keep me in check."
I send a flirty smile to the crowd then flicked my eyes to Dominic.
He was seething, his jaw clenched, his fists tightened at his sides.
"And I guess my perfect date would have to be...going to a nice restaurant, then maybe taking a long walk on the beach with a glass of some good white wine and some chocolate-covered strawberries."

Chet put his hand on my back and smiled at me as I gave the mic back to him and took a step back.
"Isn't she a beauty? And single, fellas! Who wants to start the bidding at $5000?"
And then the bids started piling in...
"5000!"
"10,000!"
I felt a blush rise to my face as I heard the numbers rising, jumping.
"25,000!"
"50,000!"
"70,000!"
"Woah! We really like her, don't we? Do I hear 80,000," Chet egged the crowd on.
"85,000," I heard a woman's voice say and I blushed even further.
"100,000!"
"Yes! Raising money for the kids! Let's keep it going! Do I hear 150,000?"
"150,000!"
"$150,000, going once, going twice, So--"
"--$350,000!"
Chet stopped speaking before a man walked to the front of the crowd. He was wearing a suit, as were all of the men in attendance, but he worked that suit. He exuded power, his cat-like strut had heads turning.
"350,000, folks. Do I hear 400,000," Chet asked, getting the attention of the crowd again.
I was staring into the man's amber eyes. He was gorgeous and looked so much like—
"--400,000!" Someone from the back of the crowd yelled and the man in the front vocalized with, "One million dollars."
I gasped and covered my mouth. This man was willing to pay a million dollars to go on a date with me?
"Uh, one million dollars. Going once...going twice... Sold to the gentleman in the front with the dark brown hair."
The man walked to the side of the stage to meet me and help me walk down the stairs.
"Ms. Genevieve Carlyle, a pleasure to meet you," he kissed my knuckles and smirked.
"You as well, Mr...?"
"Preston," the man purred and it made my knees weak.
"Preston," I smiled and blushed under his intense gaze. His eyes were light amber under the harsh fluorescent lights and his head and facial hair were the same color as Dominics. I couldn't help but compare as they looked so much alike.
"When would you like that date, Ms. Carlyle," his baritone voice floated like a melody to my ears and I blushed even more than I had been.
"You can call me Genevieve, or just Genny if you'd like. And maybe next weekend? This one's full for me, sorry."
He smirked again and his eyes twinkled, "I don't mind waiting. Next Saturday it is then. You did say you were single, yes?"
I chuckled nervously, "Yes, why?"
He looked over my shoulder and I felt him put his hand on the small of my back, right were Dominic usually puts his.
"Because Dominic Blackstone is looking like he wants my head on a stick right now."
He chuckled and brought his eyes to mine again and I was quick to reassure him, "You're fine. He's just my boss. He's actually here with--"
"--Jasmine Greenwood, a pleasure to meet you," she was suddenly right beside me with her hand stretched out and a flirty smile on her face.
"Preston, you as well," he removed his hand from my back and took hold of hers. He then looked behind me and I felt a large hand against my naked back again.
"Brother," I heard Dominic's deep voice behind me.
Wait, what?
