《Freaks & Geek》Chapter 23: Who You Are

"The first test will be ." Lucifer smirked causing the crowd to cheer. Damien looked visibly stressed, while her remaining mates seemed confused. She wasn't sure, but it looked like her father was actually praying.
"You will stand in the center of the arena and be surrounded by demons. The test is that only one is a true demon, while the others are apparitions. It is your job to find the real entity and kill them." Images of Lydia popped back in her head and she was visibly stressed.
"You can do this, dove." Damien kissed her temple. "I love you." He said before letting her hand go. Harlow gave him a small smile before taking steps down and walking to the center of the arena. Harlow watched as a large shadowy demon walked towards her and instantly multiplied. She was surrounded as they encroached closer and closer in a suffocating manner.
Harlow felt like she couldn't breathe and slowly began to crouch down from the weight of them. Damien could no longer see her and ran his fingers through his hair repeatedly. Aries was on the brink of getting loose, while Val told them she had one more minute before he went in there after her.
'We got this.' Harlow heard Kali speak before she took her seat in the passenger's side. Kali let out an angry roar before jumping up and knocking down every demon. She looked at the large demon still on their back trying to get up to the far left of her while still in the air and lunged herself forward to land on top of him. She pulled him forward in a seated position before slicing her hand swiftly across his neck. They all watched as his head rolled away and the apparitions slowly disappeared.
The crowd went wild and Damien couldn't help but smile widely. "Fuck yeah!" Val said happily as they watched Kali stand in all her glory. Beelzebub couldn't have been prouder. She looked just like him with her bright red skin and black markings.
He could see his late wife in her human form so clearly, but she really was her father's daughter as well. Lucifer fumed at her victory. He was certain that test would leave her floundering at the least and dead at best. He just needed to turn it up a notch.
"The next test is ." Lucifer announced with a sinister smile. Kali heard the collective gasp from the crowd and watched as Damien almost had a nervous breakdown. "You will be submerged in holy water for five minutes. As a demon you can breathe underwater, but we all know holy water is one of that asshole's many tools to fight and kill us. Only the strongest are able to survive the five-minute mark, including your father. Make him proud, Kali, and do try to stay alive."
Kali could see Wes' eyes changing color as Val held him back. In an instant a glass container stood in front of her. Two large demons appeared beside her before helping her into the glass coffin. Kali looked around before setting her eyes on her mates and smiled. Her breathing had leveled before a searing pain ripped right through her. The scream that Kali let out broke her mates and father.
Damien didn't want to watch, but he couldn't tear his eyes off of her. "Why are you doing this?!" Damien asked his father angrily. "You know how difficult Not By Sight is and she passed it with flying colors. Troubled Waters is a punishment not a test and she's done nothing wrong. All she's done is love me and you can't stand it!" He barked angrily as Bael began to take over.

"You can't stand that I'm happy while you're miserable. It's not my fault or hers that mother left you or that your father hates you!" Lucifer stared at his son angrily before he looked behind him and smiled. "I hope you had fun while it lasted." Damien turned around quickly to see his mate completely submerged. Kali banged on the glass furiously as her flesh began to burn and peal."
Wes shook angrily. "Get her out, Damien! GET HER OUT!" Val screamed as he fought the tears. It was apparent that Kali was losing her will to fight and fear washed over them as they watched her transform into Harlow. "NO!" Damien screamed wildly as he tried to run to his mate, but Lucifer held him back with his powers. The timer said 3 minutes and 30 seconds. "Harlow!" Wes screamed trying to get to her, but Lucifer had them restrained as well.
Harlow banged on the glass before pushing her hand against it and smiling at her mates. They watched as she struggled to find air that was nonexistent before giving in. Lucifer looked at the clock and smiled that it was 4 minutes. "She almost made it."
Damien lunged at his father, but Lucifer held up his hand stopping him. Damien fought through his father's control and closed their gap with a punch. Lucifer stared up at his son in shock. "I will never forgive you for this." The timer buzzed loudly signaling the five-minute mark. Wes didn't hide his tears, while Val was numb with the sudden wave of grief.
Damien made a move to go to his mate when he saw movement in the container. He looked back at his brothers as to confirm that they too saw what he just had. The water was cloudy and white in shade, which didn't make sense until they heard the sound of a crack.
Every demon in the audience watched enthralled as a small crack in the glass turned into a large one until glass and holy water burst everywhere. Damien, Wes, Val and everyone else in attendance stared in awe at the angel flying high above them.
Ayla smiled down at her mates and it was infections. The crowd roared with applause as she landed down at the center of the arena where Damien met her first. He wrapped his arms under her large white wings and pulled her close for a kiss. "Hi," Ayla breathed against his lips before looking into his green eyes. Damien was lost in her silver eyes.
"I thought I lost you." She shook her head no. "We had a plan all along, but we also wanted to make you guys sweat a little. We had to remind you all how good you have it with us as mates." Ayla chuckled causing Damien to spank her naked ass. "That was not nice!" He smiled at her before pulling her in for another kiss.
Wes and Val were on them in seconds. Wes pulled her in closely capturing her lips before Val got his turn. "We love you," Val said to her with a giant smile. "I love you too." Ayla looked at Damien and sighed. "What else will your father pull, my love? I'm afraid that being here for such a long time on her first go is taking its toll on Harlow and Kali isn't doing well." Damien nodded his head before looking at his father who now looked angrier than ever.
"Enough, father. She has proven her worth ten times over. The fact that Ayla is standing here is a feat in and of itself. No other true angel, but yourself and those that were banished with you have ever been able to come here. I am willing to bet that Kali might even be able to go up there. She's an asset and the true Princess. Accept it."

Lucifer breathed furiously through his nose as he looked on the naked angel. She was proving him wrong at every turn, but he wasn't one to give up so easily. "One more test." Lucifer announced causing even the demons in the audience to groan.
"What is the final test, father?" Damien said irritated. Lucifer smiled darkly. "Your last and final test is called . You will be stuck in a cave with every beast in that wretched book for three minutes. I'll be generous this time."
The crowd gasped in shock at the harsh test their master had chosen. "What has she done to you?!" Damien screamed out knowing that this test would certainly kill his mate. "I need assurance that she is worthy!" Lucifer yelled back looking at Ayla's dejected face and reveling in it.
"It's okay, my love." She smiled at him before pressing her lips to him. She kissed Val and Wes with equal passion before turning. The cave was underneath the audience seats. She made her way towards the opening door before looking back at her mates.
She mouthed the words 'I love you' before turning back around and walking into complete darkness. The timer began and everyone was in suspense. Damien, Wes and Val made their way back to the stage and watched the clock with baited breath.
Ayla began hearing a buzzing before she felt something on her shoulder. She knew she was an angel. She also knew every beast in the Bible and was fine with most, except locusts. She hated bugs. Ayla threw up multiple orbs of light to help her see and wished she hadn't. Multiple eyes were on her.
The locusts swarmed her, but she stood her ground despite wanting to scream. She saw the Nephilim demigods in the far back and visibly shook at the side of them. She noticed as they all inched toward her and saw quickly that Behemoth was charging toward her. She was prepared to die until she felt herself being pushed to the passenger seat.
Ayla looked to behind her and found Kali in the backseat still trying to heal from the holy water. "No!" Ayla screamed realizing Harlow was out with the horrid beasts of the Bible. "Stop!" Harlow yelled and shocked herself when the enormous creature listened. She looked at all of them and watched as they eyed her with a level of interest she didn't understand.
She looked at them all with mutual interest as the large ox like beast stepped closer to her. "Hi, big boy." She said cautiously as she moved her hand slowly. When he rubbed his head against it, Harlow couldn't help the laugh that escaped her. She didn't know how much longer she had in there, but she was going to make the most of it. She walked further into the cave with the ox Ayla had informed her was Behemoth by her side.
She wasn't sure but she had the strangest urge to sing. It was as if she'd suffocate without doing so. An acoustic cover of 'Simply the Best' by Noah Reid tumbled from her lips and it seemed as though the audience of frightful beasts were enthralled.
She moved around cautiously as she examined and touched every beast around. They followed her every movement as if transfixed. Ayla and Kali could feel that she was terrified, but as she sang things seemed to slowly level and stabilize. 'You don't think she's...' Ayla began. 'She has to be...' Kali answered in awe.
Damien watched as the clock ticked downward. They had thirty more seconds and it had already felt like a lifetime. "She's going to be fine. She has to be." Wes said to himself as he paced. Val was passed the point of emotional exhaustion. They had already thought they lost her with the holy water only for her angel to spawn for the first time in Hell of all places. That should have been it, but no. Satan wanted to be the dick he always was.
The alarm began blaring before Lucifer waved his hand and they watched as the door of the cave opened. They heard nothing. There was no movement and Lucifer couldn't help but smirk. He was ready to call it when they heard a voice softly singing. It captured all of their attention and the demons present couldn't help but be enamored.
Soon a loud rushing could be heard and before they could figure out what was happening water the size and strength of the oceans flooded the floor of the arena. They noticed an invisible barrier had spawned causing the water to not seep out onto the stage or audience.
"What is happening?" Lucifer asked angrily before his eyes set on the impossible. They all watched as Harlow rode the largest sea beast, Leviathan. Beast after beast floated or flew out of the cave surrounding her. Leviathan roared loudly.
"Lucifer...I'm done. I've proven my worth to you, but that will never really be enough. This isn't about me. This is about you and your relationship with your father. The fact that the very tests you gave me all have biblical influences says it all. Fix your issues and keep me out of it."
Harlow stared at the Prince of Darkness with an intensity that shook him. "You've made up your mind about me and you're wrong, but that's your business. I have shown the demons of the underworld that I am ready and willing to be their Princess."
Harlow looked around the arena at the demons and smiled. "Will you have me as your Princess?" The crowd roared loudly causing both Damien and Beelzebub's heart to swell with pride. Harlow couldn't help but laugh as Leviathan raised up in victory.
"Whatever." Lucifer finally said before moving to leave, but Harlow was in front of him in seconds. "Whatever...really? So anti-climactic." Lucifer glared at her. "I love your son and that's all that matters. I will treat the people of the Underworld with the level of respect they deserve. Starting with the beasts of the book." Harlow said loudly as she turned to them.
"You've been in that cave long enough. It's time to be free." Harlow waved her hand and focused intensely. They all watched as an ocean formed along with foundations and fortresses for all of the beasts to live and reside. Lucifer was stunned by her power. He was the only one that had ever been able to build in Hell on such a massive scale.
Harlow moved the beasts over to their new habitat and smiled. She cleared out the water in the arena before getting hit with a wave of nausea and dizziness. She felt something liquid on her face and touched under her nose. The blood on her fingers shocked her. She looked back to her mates before her eyes rolled back and she gave in to the darkness.
