《Hidden》Chapter 110

Dragons were being knocked out of the sky by the winged reborns, the riders on their backs plummeting to the ground and being ripped to shreds like paper. Zevar was doing his best to take out as many of the flying reborns as possible, but they seemed to be coming out of the army like ants, the creatures stopping at nothing.

The white dragon growled in frustration as he tried to find Latharius, but he was quickly knoked off guard when a winged reborn had latched onto the glittering white scales of Zevar. In an arial display, the male dragon flew up higher in the sky, only to turn his back towards the ground and begin plummeting to the surface.

However, the reborn seemed to notice the dragons plan, and attempted to fling itself off the dragon, but Zevar held the reborn with his claws, turning his body so his belly faced the earth. With one final cry, the reborn was crushed into the earth.

Heads from the approaching army turned to see the white dragon smashing through their ranks, Zevar tearing off heads by biting and slashing his claws with breakneck speeds. The dragon was attempting to make his way towards Latharius, but the ranks of reborns seemed to intensify the more he tried. With a flap of his wings, Zevar had once again taken up to the sky for a better advantage.

Zevar was annoyed at the countless attempts he had tried to reach Latherius, but the reborn leader was too well protected by his powerful minions.

"You must fight them with your own army." A voice in his mind had made him realize what he was going wrong the whole time, he had an army beside him the whole time, one his chosen had gathered by just being in their presence. Dragons and riders alike would have to gather up in order to stop these creatures, and that's just what Emma had hinted to Zevar in that whisper.

The girl that had awoken him was not gone, instead she was watching from his eyes, knowing that with everyone fighting together would they be able to beat the reborns. With a gush of hope, Zevar let out an earth-shaking roar, with one message that was sent to bonded as far as the land reached.

"Dragons and riders of the land, I call upon you and ask for your aid!"

And with this message, the battle seemed to freeze.

The reborns waited in a tense silence as they waited for something to change, and the dragons in the air stayed hovering as the message sank into their minds. The white dragon had once brought dragons and humans together, binding their souls in order to aid each other, and with this power, Zevar was planning on getting as much help as he could.

It was when the first few dragons appeared from the horizon did Zevar begin his attack again. He knew his support was coming, and with this fact a new sense of determination set thought the dragon. Elements from the surrounding dragons were shot from the sky, lighting up the battle field in a series of colours. Zevar had once pulled up from the battle only to watch Comet tear through the army like a boulder, the silver dragons sheer size killing the reborns on contact.

With the aid of the other dragons, a path towards Latharius was opening, and Zevar took his chance to dive from the sky and head straight towards the leader. Doging flying limbs and knarling teeth, the dragon weaved through the few remaining flying reborns, his white teeth clinging onto Latharius's nearest limb. Zevar had successfully managed to break the defenses and lock his jaw on the leader reborns forearm. Latharius was having none of the dragons attacks, quickly flinging his arm to throw the white dragon off. Zevar buried his claws in the dirt to stop himself, and it seemed as if the battle around them had finally stopped. This was it, it was the end.

The reborn sreadied himself on all six limbs and stretched his wings, threatening Zevar with a chatter of his teeth.

"She was strong, as I expect from any one of my chosen. She would follow her heart no matter her fate." Zevar retorted. He had to fight the urge to have a full blown fight right then, he wanted to hear more about Emma given he was never given the opportunity to see her more than once.

The reborns around the two leaders were growling angrily, but they all stayed a good distance away, providing the two with a battle ground of their own.

Zevar felt a pang of guilt shoot though him. Surley his chosen knew about the costs to awaken him? And she didn't sacrifice too much, right? Latharius seemed to read the white dragons thoughts, and answered his internal questions.

Latharius was trying hard not to laugh at the sight of Zevar slowly allowing despair to sink in. Taking the chance to strike, the reborn landed a good deep wound against Zavar's wing membrane, grounding the winged creature.

With a roar of rage, Zevar shot from his spot and engaged battle, attempting to sink his claws in anywhere he could, but Latharius used his extra long arms to hold the dragon back from harming distance. The dragon was ready however, swinging his tail up to just graze Latharius's eye. The reborn jerked back, clutching his bleeding face as fresh pain enveloped the dragon. Now with only one eye, the dark leader opened his mouth and released a stream of fire.

Zevar didn't need to avoid the magical attacks, for it was his own power that once belonged to him, and because of this magic did not hurt him. The reborn seemed to notice this, and seized his fire breath, deciding on a more physical approach. The creature tried to grab onto the dragons neck, only to be pushed down into the ground.

The white dragon chuckled as he opened his jaw and managed a few good bites in Latharius's side, moving aside when the reborn jerked up in pain. Now both entities were enraged, and yet Zevar seemed have the upper hand as he landed multiple hits on the weakening reborn. Dragons from their side of the battle had also taken out a good chunk of the fighting reborns out of commision, either killing them or injuring them badly enough to leave them out of the fight.

Latharius seemed to have enough, spreading his wings and pulling Zevar off from the ground by the dragons tail. With great speed, the two leaders ascended the sky with grace, only Latharius seemed to be finding the best place to hold the dragon until he could begin his final attack.

Zevar was panicking. The reborn had ripped open his wing membrane earlier and rendered his flight usless, and now the reborn was exploiting the dragons greatest current weakness. Without flight, Zevar would perish.

Latharius, when satisfied with the height, threw the dragon straight to the ground, quickly following his body at a safe distance. Zevar had screeched, the anger once in his eyes now replaced with fear. As he fell, Zevar closed his eyes, digging deep into his mind. There was his chosen, Emma's soul floating inside of him as they watched the battle. Closing his eyes, Zevar spoke.

"I am sorry I used your life to save my own, I wish it was never like this to begin with." With the apology, the white dragon felt something inside him buzz, something he had never felt before. But before the dragon could think about it, the ground had impacted him, knocking the dragon out cold.

Latharius had roared in victory, and all the surrounding reborns when crazy on the wall the central academy had created. Sure, there were still riders and dragons trying to fight off the reborns, but with so many dragons now scattered without Zavar's command, they were chaos.

A small child-like reborn waddled up to Latharius, his curious black eyes scanning the white dragons dead body. The reborn leader ourred, picking up the small creature in his arms.

The child in his arms squealed in delight, but it quickly changed when the little rebron spotted a shadow mage standing over the white dragons body.

The dark masters head turned to look at the human with black hair, not failing to notice the pitch black dragon swirling above his head. This boy he knew quite well while he was watching though Emma's mind, and not to mention powerful.

Noah was whispering prayers as he lifted his hand off the white dragon. He could still sense the girl that he had fallen for In the dragon, and even despite watching Latharius single handedly knocking Zevar out, Noah knew that the battle wasn't over yet. The reborn seemed to notice this too, as he quickly dropped the the small child in his arms and began running over to the dragon, but it was too late.

Spirit had pinned Latharius to the ground, allowing him to watch in horror as his plans came crashing down. A powerful pulse of power washed over the battle field, causing everyone to freeze in shock. Zavar's body was glowing as he got up, shaking his scales so they made a soft jingling sound. The dragon was not alone however, as there was someone riding on his back.

Noah was breathless when he saw Emma riding on Zavar's back, her clothing replaced with soft flowing robes, and her hair seemed to defy gravity as her silver eyes locked onto his. The male wanted to say something, but he couldn't do anything but watch. His black dragon took the opportunity of everyone's shock to leap off of the leader reborns back and pick up Noah off the ground, her large wings flapping to get her airborne.

"Let's finish this together." Emma patted the white dragons neck, who growled in agreement. Latharius chuckled, getting up off the ground and snapping his jaws.

Riders from above began cheering, while the headmaster was crying tears of joy while eating some bagged candy that he pulled out from under his hat. As for Emma's other friends, they were all surprised to see her appearence.

Zevar charged towards Latharius, and it was then that everyone knew, that this was the battle to change history. The white dragon got a direct hit, sinking his teeth into the reborns wing. Both titans had then put some space between them, both of them now flightless.

Latharius growled. The brunette laughed, although she said nothing. The reborn once more tried a powerful magic attack, one with different elements seeking mixed in with each other, but the white dragon only seemed to absorb the magic. In anger, Latharius dug his claws in the dragons side, causing the dragon to cry out in pain. Zevar bit the arm of the reborn unti he let go, both entities bleeding from one wound or more.

Zevar quickly charged and managed to pin down the reborn with his claws, his grey eyes shining with victory as he made a quick clean kill. Sinking his teeth into Latharius's neck, it was the cry he had let out to signify the loss.

"It's time to let go of this world." Zevar spoke to the reborn. Latharius seemed to realize that he wouldn't be coming back, so he then commanded his army to stop fighting, looking into his enemies grey eyes.

"Rest now." Zevar said before twisting the reborns head quickly. With their leader now dead, the smaller reborns also seemed to fall one by one, each child's soul inside being released from their physical husks. The dragon riders flying above watched as a domino effect had taken over the whole army, and they watched as the black creatures began falling into the dirt until there was none left, all except for one.

Ashley had a few seconds of relief from the control of Latharius, and when she did, her senses were overwhelmed with freedom. She was no longer trapped in a miserable prison, she could finally join her dragon in the afterlife. Being the last reborn, she felt her spirit slip, body collapse, and darkness set in.

With a calm wind blowing over the grassy field, the bodies of the fallen began to flake away like ash. The pieces that flew away never touched the ground, and instead seemed to float up into the sky. David and other riders had landed on the ground as they watched, approaching the white dragon and his rider with a sense of victory.

However Emma and Zevar were victorius in winning the fight, they both knew there was a few last things things they needed to do before they won the war, one that would forever prevent the birth of reborns ever again. With one deep breath, Emma and Zevar began sending out a message to all the riders in the land; their voices speaking in sync.

"With this final message we send out, we call to all the dragons to join the king, Zevar, in his new realm of peace. We have decided to sever all dragon and human bonds to prevent another reborn catastrophe, and separate dragons from human contact completely. With this order in place, multiple portals to the other realm will be scattered around the land, and all dragons are asked to leave for the new realm immediately. As for the humans, you will not be able to enter the portals due to this law, and we bid you good luck to the future.

Maybe in the future, when we have decided both worlds worthy, will we allow dragons and humans to interact with each other once again, but not as bonded, instead, both dragon and humans will have a choice to be bonded.

With this, we say goodbye."

Zevar then growled, and just as he said, many portals to a world that seemed to be filled with floating islands appeared. As if in a trance, drgons began flying into these portals and left their previous riders behind.

Noah felt his bond shatter to Spirit, but the dragon did not move to these portals, instead she attempted to turn around and nuzzle him.

"This is only a temporary goodbye, my friend." She said in her soft voice. Noah nodded, hugging his dragon before allowing her to join the others in the new realm. David and the others had similar goodbyes, and once their dragons were gone, the portals sealed, except for one.

Emma and Zevar stood in front of this portal, the brunette perched on the dragons back. Headmaster was the first to approach, then David, Jasmine, Peter, and finally Noah. The brunette seemed to want to cry when she saw them, but managed to keep a look of seriousness.

"Emma, we're going to miss you." Headmaster was the first one to speak, and yet it seemed with his few words Emma broke down. Sliding off her dragon, she ran to the older man and hugged him. Staying in that embrace for a few seconds, the girl proceeded to go past he friends one by one and give them a hug for goodbye.

"Don't worry, I'll be back soon." She said, locking eyes with all her friends one at a time. Zevar then proceeded to pick the girl up and place her on his back, walking though the portal and sealing it.

No one knew how long they had to wait, and with this new world, they had a lot of adjusting to do.
