《Hidden》Chapter 108

The sun was covered by clouds now, rain threatening to pour over the land that seemed desolate of life. The white dragon, after emerging from its thousand year sleep, had decided to explain what was to happen to its chosens previous companions, and it had learned that its previous chosens name was Emma.

"After she touched you, she was gone, so you're going to have to tell us where she is." Noah said. The black dragon behind him, Spirit, was growling with his rider despite being smaller than the white dragon. As for the grey dragon sitting next to them, Comet was more calm and collected, but the feelings of loss and sorrow did not go unoticed by the white dragon.

"I am the dragon of magic, the giver of the powers that run though your veins. As for your friend, she was my chosen, the one who was given the key to awaken me, the one immune to the curse." Looking straight into the shadow mages eyes, the dragon lowered his head to eye level with the human. "She is now the reason why you will all live through your life, for she awoke me."

The water mage spoke, his voice calm and steady. "So your chosen, will we ever see her again? After this is all over?"

The white dragon had never thought of this, after all, it had known that the humans would fall victim to the curse, he knew that he would be called to fix it if the curse ever got out of hand.

"I will have to be the bearer of bad news and say no, Emma was a holder of a fragment of my soul, and as a chosen she also had her own soul with mine, connecting us. Its like your and your own dragon, except magic wasn't a factor in our bond." The white dragon said.

"What! No! Emma is her own person! Give her back!" Jasmine shouted, running over to the dragons leg. She stared him up with piercing yellow eyes filled with anger and saddness, something the dragon could not take away.

"I'm afraid I cannot. Please forgive me small one."

"I am not small!" Jasmine screeched. The white dragon chuckled a bit, using his giant claw to move her over a bit. Turning to Comet, who had been awfully silent, he began to speak to the silver dragon.

"Comet, I believe you have an idea of what I need to do, correct?" He asked. Comet didn't turn to look at him, instead he nodded with dull eyes.

"I believe you need help getting to Latharius, right?" Aqua interjected. The white dragon turned his head to acknowledged the small blue dragon who had spoken, her light blue eyes shining with determination. "Then we could help you."

"Your help would be greatly appreciated." He replied.

"Wait a minute, before be go anywhere, what is your name? Surley you have been given one at some point." Peter had decided to make himself known to the conversation, blonde hair bouncing in the small breeze that flew by. The white dragon had scented reborns close by, and his eyes had slited in response.

"My name?" He had been given one when he had first visited Emma in her sleep. It was the first and only time they had seen each other, and even with the short dream they shared, the little girl he once visited had given him a name.

"My name is Zevar."

They were all flying again towards the last remaining place the reborns hadn't managed to take over yet, back to where the story had begun. The central academy seemed darker then when they had last seen it, however the wall protecting the building seemed to be holding up well, considering that there was reborns crawling all over the ground on the outside.

Latharius had given a full force as promised, and most of his army was now perched outside of the wall, ready to strike at their masters command. Their leader would be coming today for the right that would decide the world's fate, and Zevar was going to be their to meet him with his own army of dragons and mages.

"Aqua," he called to the dragon close to his left wing, "I'm going to have to ask you for protection from the mages in case they decide to attack. The battle has made them war mad, so I advise making a barrier of dense water as a way to prevent attack."

"Of course." The dragoness replied. She proceeded to fly lower and pull up water from nearby sources, cooling its temperature to a dense form and creating a large circle of water around the flying dragons. It was a lot of work, so David had helped her out himself, keeping the sphere in place while Aqua focused on temperature and flying. Her feathers fluttered quietly in the wind, eyes shining a bright blue as they defended the the sky.

Zevar was right about the riders being aggresive. The group watched as a winged reborn had attempted to climb the side of the wall, fire immediately tumbling down and burning the creatures skin. Sure, the reborn was basically supposed to be burnt to a crisp, but it's blood had seeped out and repaired its injuries in second. With a shiver running up everyone's spine, the six dragons and four humans riding on their dragon had passed the wall and began to fly down to the surface.

At first, Zevar had a uncomfortable feeling bubble into his head, but as he recognized that it wasn't his emotions, but rather the previous chosens soul stirring in his own. Brushing them off, the white dragon allowed his feet to touch the trampled ground, all six of his legs getting acustomed to the new texture long forgotten.

His eyes had quickly locked onto a man with a black top hat that had seen much better days, his black eyes scattered with visible white flecks. Almost instantly did Zevar feel a connection with this man and Comet, and his assumptions were correct when the silver dragon had broken out of the barrier and lowered his muzzle affectionately towards the man.

"He ha! Alright! I'm fine! It took just a bit of convincing but I managed to beat Draco and kick him out before he caused any trouble. I missed you." He said to the dragon who purred in response. Noah had cleared his throat after a few second of silence, his black eyes carefully eyeing the sufents quickly accumulating around the water barrier. The headmaster immediately looked up to see his other students inside the barrier, which then he saw the large and curious crowd also gathering.

"Everyone back to their stations! This is war, not a zoo! Quit looking at them like you don't know them." The many diffrent aged students had run back into the academy or onto the wall, while some gathered nearby items they had previously abandoned and continued their jobs. Yet despite this, a few students had stayed behind to stare at the massive white dragon with four wings and six legs, along with the rainbow-glittering scales. Zevar signalled to Aqua to let her shield down, which she happily did.

The headmaster intently looked around all the dragons and riders for one person, yet as he came to scan over the group a fifth time the hope in his heart began to shatter. Emma was now gone, his own niece was now one with the towering white dragon standing in front of him.

"Welcome home, Emma." Headmaster said with a shakey voice. The dragon gave him a confused look, but deep down he felt happiness in seeing this man once more. The man then shook his head and smiled, all his previous emotions now replaced with that signature smile.

"Alright then, it's good to have more dragons on our side, especially you," He patted Zevar's side whilst examining him, "you seem to be a tank of a dragon."

"He's the white dragon of legend sir, Zevar." David pointed out.

"Oh, I presume Emma had figured it out, I was just hoping for a different outcome." Headmaster responded. The man knew of Emma's ties with the legends, her kind was rare, and she was probably the last, and with her she had awoken the white dragon. "However, if the tides of war change, then I won't complain, come, we have battle plans to discuss."

Comet had decided that his adventure had went on long enough, spreading his wings and inviting all the other dragons except Zevar for a rest before the next battle, whenever that would be, he acended into the sky with a few flaps of his wings and took off. Aqua, Joel, and Electra had flew off to join them, yet Spirit had stayed to watch silently.

Headmaster had watched the other dragons take off. Continuing his path to the center of the academy, the man took the larger hallways to accomadate Zavar's height. Once they made it to a large open room did the session begin. A round table was centered in the room, although there was no chairs to be seated in.

The members of the group surrounded the table and awaited for someone to break the silence, although it seemed as if everyone was just pressing the time to avoid the topic.

Finally, Noah broke the silence.

"Emma was determined to get rid of the reborns, however she had told me that these creatures were once people. Zevar, is there any way to reverse the curse and save them?"

"I'm afraid that once the darkness touches their minds, they cannot come back." The news the dragon brought had crushed the male, although it wasn't as bad as the emotion He had first felt when he realized that Emma was gone.

"Never mind that, how are you going to defeat Latharius?" David spoke out. Zevar huffed, his grey eyes turning to the water mage. He felt his chosens spirit squirm, a close friendship emmiting from it as he stared at the water mage. The male had clearly loved the chosen, but deep inside his light blue eyes Zevar could see an internal old love for someone else burn. He was in the process of choosing, something Zevar was very knowing about.

"Latharius is quick to act, however he does not think many of his plans though. I need to confront him, only then will I have a chance to beat him and his growing army." The headmaster nodded to acknowledge the dragons words; and although everyone was curious to know what the white dragon was going to do, perhaps not knowing would aid them.

"Then we shall wait for him to come here, until then we rest and prepare for his final attack." Headmaster spoke, "Meeting over."

Zevar nodded his head, turning to make his way outside. That's when a memory flooded through his head, or rather a vision. He had followed the image in his head, going up to the top floor to the dragon stables. It was difficult with his large size, but somehow his scales managed to squeeze thought the small spaces.

Walking though the halls, Zevar had noticed that most stables were empty, although the odd one would host a sleeping dragon. Continuing to follow the vision, the dragon had gone though countless numbers to stable zero, one that was abandoned many years ago due to its far placement amongst other stables.

The room inside was large, and despite the dip in the floor covered in dirt, it was large enough and cozy. It was when the dragons eyes were partially closed did Zevar realize that this was the place he had first visited Emma in her dreams, the same place he now lay he had visited his chosen. With one final light breath the dragon had fallen in a slumber.

°°°

Zevar felt a darkness approach the academy, awakening him from his sleep. He had been resting for a mere two days before he felt something off. Shooting up from his sleep Zevar had run to an opening and looked outside, his grey eyes scanning the army of reborns outside the ice and rock wall. In the center of the army was a reborn much larger than the others, his deathly black eyes practically sucking out the light around them.

Latharius was here.
