《Hidden》Chapter 104

The reborn didn't have time to react as the force of the dragon collided with its body, causing both creatures to tumble off the slab of rock and down the mountain slightly. The dragon locked her jaws tightly down on the reborns frail neck, it's fangs creating large gashes along its body.
Emma got off the ground and rushed to Noah, who's eyes were glued onto the sight of the dragon and reborn fighting, the right catching them both in a trance. The dragon seemed to have a dark-liquid like venom foaming down from it's jaws, and each time it took a bite the reborn would screech in pain. That's when Emma realized that this must have been Noah's dragon who was currently fighting.
The reborns arms flailed around until it took a good scratch along the dragon's side, Noah wincing as he too felt the pain arise in his body.
"Noah, we gotta help her!" Emma nudged the male and have him a hard stare, which he returned with a nod. The brunette picked up a rock and trained her arm back, throwing the rock at full force where it hit reborn on the head. It screeched in annoyance, but was too focused on the battle to care about the small human below it. Noah lifted his hand and shot a small size of his magic to the reborn, the attack narrowly missing the dragon and burning the reborns skin.
The demonic creature extended its neck in pain, and that's when the dragon took its chance and attacked the weak point. With one clamp of its jaws, the dragon has finished the reborn without remorse, killing the creature and letting its head tumble to the floor. The body rolled down the mountain along with its decapitated head.
"Wow." The shadow mage whispered. The dragon turned its head when it heard the quiet exclamation, it's eyes the same shade of black as Noah's. That was when Emma noticed that the dragon has a different colouring than all the other dragons she had seen before. This dragon was pure black from horn to scale with a giant and tall figure that easily overpasses Aqua and Joel, but yet just managed to stay a tad bit smaller than Comet.
"Noah, is that-" She wanted to ask him if the dragon was his, but she was silenced with a growl from the black beast. Emma shut her mouth and glared at the dragon. She looked over to Noah, who seemed to be having his own private conversation with the dragon, so she waited, keeping her eyes peeled for anymore reborns. The dragon flexed her wings and showed off the slick black protruding spikes on her back, along with a fanned tail that helped her in flying. As for the head, there were two large horns that curved in an elegant fashion, yet intimidating all the same. It took about thirty minutes before Noah seemed to finish his mental talk with the dragon, and when he did, the grin on his face was one filled with excitement.

"Hey, Emma, meet my dragon, Spirit." Noah introduced the pitch black dragon with a faint smile, and the dragon seemed to drop it's defenses down, her eyes returning to wide black curious orbs and wings drooping slightly. The reborn had put the large reptile into a protective mode that clouded her judgement, but it didn't stop the dragon from conversing with the girl in front of her.
"You are the one that showed my rider who I was, weren't you?" The female dragon said with curiosity. Emma nodded, keeping her grey eyes on the black dragon. "I cannot thank you enough, for I am now in your debt, along with your destiny."
"What do you mean by that?" the brunette asked. Spirit smiled, showing off her pearly white fangs that could tear flesh in seconds.
"I mean that you are going to find out what you are destined to do, now, let's go find your friends." The dragon seemed to want to end the conversation as she picked up Noah by the shirt and placed him on her back, taking Emma next and placing her behind the male.
"Are you ready?" Spirit asked the two on her back. Noah cheered, for this would be the first time he would ride and bond with his dragon, one of the most important parts of being a rider. Emma allowed her arms to link around Noah's torso and keep her steady. Spirit nodded with approval, her giant black wings seemingly glittering as she raised them. Then, with a sudden down-stroke, they were up in the air. Two, three, and the fourth was to propel them forward into the air, where they began flying back to their original landing place.
Flying in the clouds was always exhilarating, just the look ahead was like a never-ending horizon with a kingdom of clouds, the sun shining down on them with a warm glow. The scene below was like a painting an artist could do with a skillful hand, and the excitement in Emma couldn't be contained as she too stretched out her arms as if she was flying. She was joyful to feel how it was to fly again without the fear lingering in her chest, she felt as if she could fly away right now from all her problems like a coward and stay out of reach from the reborns.
That's when the reborn from earlier appeared in her mind, ones with wings that seemed small, yes, but they could evolve, they could fly over the defenses of the academy and small towns and kill everyone inside, and as long as there were dragons and humans, there were reborns.
"Do you realize it now? You can only get rid of everything to get rid of me, for I am fear, hope, I am everything, and to get rid of me, you have to get rid of everything else." The voice was negative as always as it taunted Emma once again. The girl simply ignored it, focusing on the clouds that were inches beneath their toes.

Spirit had slowly descended the sky and began circling the mountain the others were on, and with Richard now in sight meant he had found headmasters personal book, but for some reason the sight of them gave Emma a woozy feeling in her stomach.
David had heard the wing beats as soon as the dragon took off, and his suspicions were raised as he saw the pitch black dragon come down with its massive wingspan slowly taking it down the sky. Aqua started growling as she scanned the dragon for any kind of colour on its body, but fear rose when she saw nothing but it's midnight black scales glittering in the sun.
As soon as Spirit's claws touched the ground, Emma slid off the dragons back and landed on her feet, where she began walking to Richard. The old man was holding the book close to his side, but when he saw Emma approach, he held it out for her to take.
"That you, Richard." Emma said with a smile. The man simply nodded and walked over to his dragon, who like all the other dragons, were studying the black dragon. Noah was closely following the brunette and peered over her shoulder to see the book, his breath tickling her ear.
Headmasters book seemed like it was still in mint condition, but she wouldn't expect less from a man with the most respected academy in his care. Although, to think about where he was now gave her the chills. Shaking her head, she began to read past the pages in order to find the weapon they needed, but she stopped when she saw her name neatly written on one page.
Emma
The descendant of the chosen, a species of mage that does not control any physical matter, but instead has a greater gift bestowed upon them.
The white dragon in the legends was supposedly hidden away in an ancient artifact, which I used to believe was the dragon necklace her parents wore, but after searching for the real answers, I realized that those necklaces were just a symbol.
No, there was no weapon to kill the reborns as I had hoped, but instead a key, and this key is my niece.
With her silver eyes and lack of magic, I had stumbled on a few of her many abilities, unlike normal mages, she can communicate with dragons without having a bond, she can create a spiritual world in her mind and summon different dragons and people to join her.
But that's only a fraction of shes meant to do.
When reading the books of the forgotten library under the ocean, I found a diary written from the first silver descendant, the one who granted everyone magic with his generosity, he talked about how the white dragon needed to go into hiding, and was currently waiting in the northern mountains waiting to be awakened. I spent most of my time while at the northern academy trying to search for the dragon, but no matter what day I went, I was lost and returned to the exit.
But to awaken this dragon, they needed a key. This key is the grey eyes, for there is only one alive per generation, they carry the ability to awaken this dragon, but at what cost?
This dragon is supposedly going to gather the dragons and send them to another world, severing the bonds and returning the world to its normal state, one without magic. I'm not sure what to do, with our dragons gone, I know we will have to adjust greatly to the new world.
Hopefully this never happens.
The writing got scribbled near the end, one that seemed more recent than the past writing.
I'm sorry Emma, it seems as if these reborns are here to make sure the legend is true, I wish I could tell you with my own words.
And that's where the writing stopped. Emma felt her hands shook as she realized the truth. Was this some kind of joke? Was she really meant to find this dragon and destroy all the bonds?
One tear was all she needed to shed before she accepted it, despite the pain she felt in her heart, she couldn't bring herself to tell her friends this. Closing the book, she smiled at them, and they all seemed worried about her.
"The weapon is in the northern mountains, we'll need to head there as soon as possible." Emma clenched the book in her hands and headed to Comet, who laid on his belly to allow Emma easier access to his back. The girl easily climbed the dragon and mounted his back, her heart beating at a rapid pace.
"Emma? Are you sure we should go now?" Jasmine asked.
"Well, I'd rather have this done and over with sooner so I can spend time with you guys." Emma chuckled, dispersing the tense aura around them.
"Yeah, let's go and kick the reborns asses!" Peter shouted as he mounted his dragon. Everyone was on their dragon, and even David seemed to be at ease for once.
"Alright! To the mountains!" Emma pretended to brandish a sword and swing it North, laughing to herself at his silly she looked. The six dragons took off the mountain face and opened their wings to catch the wind, flying above the ground with the clouds.
Emma closed her eyes as she embraced this moment, the feeling of being free from everything once more. Soon she knew she would be gone from this world, all that mattered was what memories she left behind here.
