《Hidden》Chapter 43

David was the first one to find his temporary room. As expected, the interior of his room was blue, but the walls were made of water, divided in the middle for privacy from other people. Fish swam in the crystal blue water, happy with their life inside a wall for Decoration.
The bed was a standard water bed, but it's cover was clear and made the whole bed see-through. Everything has a blue L.E.D light inside it, making the room glow a nice light blue.
"Jeeze, so much blue, this is when I'm thankful Peter actually lives with me." David put his bag on his bed, gently taking out a large poster from his bag. It was a picture taken a few months ago by the central headmaster. David, Emma, Peter and Jasmine all stood together in front of a snowman, smiling. Peter had the remains of snow in his hair from the snowball fight they had at the time.
Emma smiled, the memory replaying in her head a bunch of times. Bailey tugged on Emma's sleeve, gaining her attention.
"I still have to show you where you'll be staying." He whispered. The two snuck out of the room, leaving David to unpack his things in private.
Walking quickly down the halls, Bailey and Emma were quick on their feet, making sure to not bat an eye from suspicious contestants.
"Hey, Bailey? Where's the student of the school? Domt they have studies to do?" Emma asked curiously. The empty space of the halls was a bit off-putting, every word that came out of his mouth bounce against the white marble walls.
"They are all spending Time somewhere in the Northern barrier, probably some going home for the next week, but others will stay in the lower levels of the academy, the ones who can't fly home in a few hours." Bailey pointed down to the floor, thankfully there was no glass floor like the level above them, just a red carpet.

Emma nodded, and the alward silence once again filled the quiet halls, the only sound was the low thump of a footstep.
Bailey led Emma into a giant room that looked to be the center of the academy. A giant white crystal chandelier hung on the roof, and the crystals sucked out the magic of the spirit gems beside them, a geo crystal. Two, large and curved staircases made there way up to another floor, and many people were gathered in the small area.
"You need to be elegant while going up those stairs, people will question whether or not your supposed to be up on the top floor, but you have to show them you have been chosen by the elites themselves." His warm voice tickled the girls ear, a shiver crawling down her spine. Bailey place a hand on her back and gently pushed her forward, taking her closer to upstairs.
Emma looked back to the boy, who have her an encouraging smile. She smiled back at him, making her way through the crowd.
There were small appetizers on tables of pure white cloth. They had extremely fancy finger foods, and people with long and short dresses and custom made suits walked around, all laughing and gossiping about a few past challengers who were here this year.
Emma took a deep breath, trying and failing to let her stress out. She began to take a few steps to the stairs, some questioning eyes on her. She took one step, and now the whole crowd was silent, staring at the brunette. Whispers were now exchanged instead of the loud gossip from just a few seconds ago, and this was even worse.
Emma stood straight, waking up the stairs confidently as people's states bore into her back. Emma didn't care though, she had gotten used to the feeling, and it was a welcoming change other from expectation.

She was almost up the stairs when another elite began walking up the stairs. People's heads were darting from Emma to the elite in the purple coat that hid them from states. Emma reached the top, and waited for the elite.
"Come on, we can't let them stare at us for too long now." The person under the purple cloak walked slowly, Emma easily matching their pace. The unexpected chuckle came from the mysterious person, and their hand poked out of the conceiving cloak, landing on Emma's shoulder.
The brunette jumped, not at all expecting physical contact from anyone, let alone an elite. The girl looked up into the shadows where the older persons eyes should have been, and a smile was plastered on the illusion master.
"Come, I'll show you where we can talk in private." Emma hesitated at the feminine voice, but listened to orders. Oh how she wished David of headmaster was there with her.
They walked through the halls, Emma taking occasional glances downwards to look at the people staring at them through the glass. After a couple of weird stares though, She decided to keep her head up and eyes away from the creepy people below.
The two people walked down the wide halls, stopping at a wall. The elite unveiled her hand, scars littering her arms and hands. Magic poured out of the elites hand, gently pressing the magic into the wall. A rectangular tear, all perfectly straight appeared where the magic was, and the elite opened the new door.
The room was purple, as expected, but small gadgets and toys littered multiple shelves and ledges. Fancy furniture and a cloud for a bed was placed around the large room. The place was decorated nicely and was clearly intended for a short stay.
The illusionist walked over to one of the fancy chairs provided by the owners of the academy, and no real windows were on the walls, but windows created by illusion magic did let light inside the whole room.
"So Emma, you have been invited because of you're deceased father, correct?" The soft voice of the illusion elite echoes through the large room, making Emma nod out of habit.
The elite took off her hood, making Emma close her eyes. It was a law to never see the elites features, that could provide valuable information to assassins and other kingdoms that wish to destroy them. Seeing their faces could provide info on the family, or the real homes of the elites.
"Open your silver eyes girl, you have my permission to." The gentle voice was tempting to obey, causing Emma's eyes to split open fully. She turned around and looked at the woman, who had gorgeous features.
Her hair was such a dark purple that it was almost black, and her eyes were practically glowing purple. The woman had scars everywhere though, but she wore a smile that lit up her face. Smile wrinkles were to be expected at an old age, and this woman wore them well.
"My name is Mira, the illusionist elite, and I'm here to tell you something you will need to know."

For Grass and Glory
Being old is difficult. But losing the love of your life to natural selection and being left in the dirt is even harder. Join Walton in his final journey as he figures out if his principals are just as important when there is nothing left to lose. Combating hypocrisy, youth, bad diet practises and a general lack of respect towards humanity, Walton's struggles are the true adventure of the everyday man. A story about unlikely friendship, being old, unexpected beauty, and the obsession of kicking a round leather ball in the best way possible. A story about a new world, and its possibilities. A story about the grass, and let us hope, a small bit of glory? Author note: This is a project of mine I started in 2016 and recently been writing for again. Writing for me is something I love to do, but can't always find the time for. This is also the reason I have not finished (or come close to) Ethereal Space yet. I get distracted. I started this novel intending to create something else, to break a bit with the current go to's story wise in the litRPG or virtual reality communities. So, this is my attempt at "Something different" I would love feedback or just your general opinion. But most of all, I hope it entertains. Enjoy!
