《THE LOOK OF A SILVER FOX✅》Part 31

"You know what?" I reached inside my bag, leaned even closer to him and whispered in his ear:

"You can let me go and you will. I'm holding a bottle of pepper spray at the moment so If you don't fuck off right now imma make you go blind." my voice was not trembling a bit.

His eyes went dark: "You wouldn't dare-"

"Test me, bitch" I cut him off, feeling so powerful.

He looked me up and down but let me go. Immediately, I turned away and started walking fast towards the dancefloor.

"Eric is here."

"What? Who? Your boss Eric?" Nina asked cofused as she told others to give us some space.

I nodded.

" Fuck, where? Are you alright, did you talk to him?"

"Yeah" I sighed and took some ice from my drink to put it on the back of my neck: "This fucker... he tried but I had your pepper spray so he backed off."

"He tried what? Did he hurt you? I'm going to cut his dick off!" she got upset and started looking for him.

"Chill, I'm good. Don't worry about it." I took her hand in mine and squeezed it.

"I can't 'not worry about it'. Bitch, he's a fucking pscyho. Someone has to teach him a fucking lesson."

"I know." I chuckled and kissed her cheek: "I love you and I swear we'll get our revenge but right now we're fine and we don't have to think about him. Let's enjoy our night, I'm fine anyway. Let's not let him ruin our girls night!"

"Yeah, yeah." she wasn't totally sure about that but she kind of pushed her thoughts about finishing Eric and tried to enjoy the rest of our night. I didn't see Eric for the rest of the night.

The next morning I woke up to an email from Amy. She sent me a file of a contract - my resignation agreement.

I went through it and read everything very carefully but I still didn't understand the half of it. Shit.

I realized I know only one lawyer and, unfortunately, it was my ex.

As much as I fought back to contact him, I knew I needed his opinion on this. I really had no idea what else is Eric capable of so I couldn't trust him at all. Also, James and I always wished the best for eachother and I knew he'll help me hundred percent.

I searched for his number in my contact list and pressed on the green icon to call him. It started ringing and my panic started escalating. Shit, shit, shit.

"Emily?" his voice woke up a weird feeling inside of me. My chest started to hurt in some kind of weird way. I haven't heard his voice in ages.

"James, hey. Look, I'm sorry to call you, but I.. um.. I need your help with something" I was so fucking nervous.

"Of course. Are you in some kind of trouble?"

"No, no." I chuckled:"I'm good I just need help with a contract. I don't quite understand everything so I thought that maybe you could - I mean if you have time and if you want, I mean, If you could help me out." My voice was shaking.

He chuckled and I imagined his smile: "Of course I'll help you. Can you forward it to my email?"

"Yeah, is it still the same one?"

"It's still the same."

"Okay. I'll send it now."

"Alright, I'm going to call you later, after I check it, alright?"

"Sure, yeah. James, thank you. Really."

"Emily, of course." he hung up.

That was... weird.

After I told Nina all about that, our call was interrupted by his.

"Hello?"

"Emily, hi. Listen, I don't see any problems with your contract, everything seems to be fine so you're good. You can sign it and have no concern about it."

I let out a small sound of relief. I really hoped I won't have to deal with this.

"Thank you so much! Thank you for taking your time. You really helped me with this one."

"Sure, don't worry about it. Listen, I actually wanted to call you for days. I wanted to invite you to my wedding."

I was shocked but not in a my-heart-just-broke type of way.

I still had feelings for him, but I was not in love with him anymore. I realized it in that moment. I was happy for him but surprised. Surprised that he actually wanted me as his guest at his wedding, to be honest. Even though he broke my heart, we ended things in a nice way. I was worried about our first contact after the break up but, surprisingly, I was okay.

"You're getting married? James, that's great!"

"Yeah, what a miracle, right?" he chuckled:"But yeah, thank you. I really want you close on that day. I know I fucked up but I'll always care about you in an... unexplainable type of way and you know that."

"I know." I did know that. Our break up was a sad love story but our connection was amazing. I'll always have him in my heart. He's that type of boy that every girl has in her life. That one person who just stays in your head and your heart no matter what. Yeah. That was James for me.

"Send me the invite and I'll try my best to attend your wedding, I promise."

"Still the visual type of person, huh?"

"Obviously! You better try hard to make the invite look beautiful otherwise I'm not coming!" I chuckled.

"Yeah, I know you're serious about that. Okay, I'll do my best. It was very nice hearing you."

"You too, James. Thanks again."

"Take care, Emily."

I didn't know how much I needed this conversation. It helped me close some chapters in my head with a happy ending. I felt so calm. And it felt so good not holding a grudge against him.

I signed the contract and sent it back to Amy. Bye, Eric. As much as I hoped I'll never get to see him again, something was telling me that this is not the end of story with him. Yet.
