I walked into school, seeing Frank waiting by my locker. I skipped the first few periods because I slept in. Break had just finished and there were very few people in the corridors.
'so what are you doing tonight?' I asked Frank, sitting on his desk.
'nothing, what do you wanna do?' he said.
'Nando's' I suggested.
'anything for you' he leaned in and gave me a kiss.
Then my Dad walked in because it was his class.
'Rebecca, if you would leave and go to your class, That would be good' he said.
'ok, Dad' I said. I linked my pinkie with Franks and walked out.
I walked into my class.
'Where have you been?' asked Alfie.
'Slept in. Then when I got in, Franks class. Then Dad kicked me out' I explained.
Alfie picked up a hat from his desk.
'right, sports day. You know the drill'
'Sir draws names out of a hat. That way the humiliation's at random' Stephen explained to Cleo.
'Okay...' Alfie drew the first name, 'Andre, Egg and Spoon race'
'Raj, 800 metres'
'Rem-Dogg... Wheelbarrow race'
'Boom, third year in a row' said Rem-Dogg.
Alfie continued.
'Stephen, sack race'
'I am not wearing a sack in public. please let me customise it, sir' asked Stephen.
Alfie agreed.
'Chantelle, three-legged race'
'Cleo...'
'I ain't doing no bait sports day' she retaliated.
'100 metre dash' he said.
'just 'cause I'm black you think I can sprint? said Cleo.
'Let her sit this one out?' I asked
'fine, you don't have to do it' he said.
'correct'
'I'm out too. I'm covering sports day in the school news paper. Did you guys red my latest addition?' said Jing
Everyone avoided eye contact with her.
'it's just a bit dry, babe' said Chantelle
'what you need is sex, scandal and Kimye' said Stephen.
'you want a scandal. I heard Melanie Chubb, right, went to the toilet and accidentally wiped her fanny with her dress'
'OMG, drams, give me deets'

Then Joe walked in all wet.
'what happened to you?' I asked.
'I don't fit into my locker anymore so Grayson lubed me' Joe looked at me accusingly.
'Lube helps, sir, if you're trying to fit into something small' flirted Chantelle.
'I'll talk to him...'I offered.
'I was in there for an hour. Thank God I keep it well stocked with snacks' said Joe.
'an hour? For fucks sake, Frank' I said, getting out my phone and texted him.
'I will make Frank apologise to you' I said.
'my arse he will. Not even you could change him that much' said Joe.
'you wound me, Joe. He will apologise' I said.
A moment later, someone knocked on the door.
Frank opened it.
'I came here because Becca wanted me to apologise to you' he said, 'I'm sorry'
Everyones mouths dropped a few metres.
'that's my man' I was so proud of him.
Alfie carried on.
'Becca, your event is hurdles' he said.
'Ha, that's my event. oooh I'm so gonna beat you, babe' said Frank.
'You'd better because it would be a bit embarrassing if I beat you' I said, with a wink.
'but 'll help you practice because I don't want you to come last' he said.
He laughed. I smiled.
'right, I better go' he said. He came over, locked his pinkie with mine and kissed my cheek.
'Bye' I said.
Once he left, Alfie turned to me.
'Please beat him. It would be so funny' said Alfie.
'no, that's so mean' I said.
'yeah but Grayson mean to everyone else' said Joe
'so? he's not mean to me and didn't he just apologise?' I said, ' I know nothing about hurdling and he's teaching me, now call me dumb if I'm wrong but that's nice'
'fine' said Alfie.
'#light bulb. That old guy that tried to attach on to Miss G., he's going to sports day, right? Why don't you challenge him? Show Miss G what she's missing' suggested Stephen.

'That is a brilliant idea'
'challenge him at what? You're even slower and weaker than me' said Joe
'isn't It obvious? Good, old-fashioned dance off. I can bust a few moves out of my hip-hop locker' said Alfie, wiggling his arms.
'your hip hop moves are about this far from a race crime' said Cleo.
Alfie started dancing.
'I'm embarrassed to be related to you' I said.
*TIME SKIP TO ALMOST END OF THE SCHOOL DAY*
It was almost the end of the day when I got a text.
The bell rang.
I got up and grabbed my bag.
'where are you going in a hurry?' asked Alf
'hurdles with my boyfriend' I said.
I went to the changing room and got changed into a the school's signature white polo shirt and some black nike shorts.
I saw Frank, he had just finished setting up two lanes of hurdles.
'Hey, hot stuff' I said.
He looked u and grinned.
'you ready to hurdle with the schools best hurdler?
'alright then, teach me'
He showed me how he jumped over hurdles. I saw that his legs were bent in a certain way.
I attempted a first jump but I fell over. Because of my gymnastics, I jump a certain way which the hurdle did not like.
Frank was laughing at me. I pouted and he helped me up.
'try it again, baby. You'll get it' he said.
I tried again but this time I got it.
Frank cheered.
By the end of it, I was able to jump over all of he hurdles along side Frank.
He grabbed my waist and pulled me into a hug.
'I'm so proud of you' he said into my ear.
'Well, I learned from the best'
I leaned in and pressed my lips against his.
'I love you so much' I said.
'I love you too' he grabbed my hand and twirled me around.
Everyone was practicing before their events. A guy had just finished doing his long jump practice and Frank, who had his arm around me, glared at him.
'oh look, theres your Dad' said Frank.
My Dad was talking to this guy next to an ambulance.
We went over.
'Hey Dad' I said.
'Hi Mr Wickers' said Frank, respectfully.
'Ah, Rebecca, Frank. This is Richard. Richard, this is my daughter and her boyfriend' introduced Dad.
Alfie came up behind us.
'Ah smoocher, come perch' said Dad,
Frank and I tried holding back giggles at the nickname.
'We were just chin-wagging about the pick and pock of leather on willow'
'Sorry, I don't speak last of the Summer wine' said Alfie, sarcastically.
'right, we're gonna go' I said.
Frank and I sat down on the grass.
'Beccs, I couldn't ask for a more perfect girl with me. I mean, I haven't gotten upset with you once over the 2 and a half years that we've dated. I'm only sorry that I haven't been the perfect boyfriend' He said, looking down.
I put my hand on his cheek.
'Frank, are you kidding me? You've been more than perfect. The last 2.5 years have been the best years of my life and that was all because of you. Just because you've upset me a few times doesn't make you a bad boyfriend, it makes you bette because you've realised that you upset me and did something about it'
He smiled. I lay his head on his chest and he wrapped his arms around me.
I watched as my class did their events, some won and some didn't.
Then it was the hurdles.
I went into the lane next to Frank. I blew a kiss to him.
'On your marks'
'get set'
'go'
Fraser blew the whistle.
I jumped over hurdle after hurdle, keeping an eye of Frank who was just in front of me.
Everyone dropped away. Frank was first and I was inches behind him.
Everyone either cheered on me or Frank.
In the end, Frank won.
'Well done, babe' I said, kissing his cheek.
'You were literally just behind me, so well done you' he hugged me from behind.
'you taught me well then' I grinned at him.
We kissed and sat down in the stands.
