《He's My BadBoy》Chapter thirty-three

Friday came around before I knew it. Emily was continuously making me envious with her family photos from Paris, but it was also making me more excited for our baby to come. Molly has been working all week so I haven't got a chance to catch up with her and Sean is still stressing that his plan won't work.
"Hey Tal" Loren says as I get out of my car
I look over to see she's getting out of her car beside me "oh hey, do you guys have training today?" I ask noticing her wearing her cheerleading uniform
Loren sighs throwing her keys into her bag "the boys have a big match next weekend and coach is really pressing down on us to nail the routine"
"The joys" I laugh
"Tell me about it" she says "I'd almost prefer a day of classes instead of being shouted out for not keeping my shoulders straight enough"
"I remember those days" I laugh "but then when you've your day of classes you'd prefer the shouting"
"We just can't win can we" she grins
Ryder walks up to me once I get to my locker "Seans been pestering me already about getting the decorations up in time and making sure everyone's there"
I roll my eyes playfully "you'd think he likes her with the effort he's going to for her birthday"
"Don't let him hear you say that unless you want to be murdered"
"Sign two: denial and defensiveness" I joke
"Who knows maybe tonight's their night"
I went to Ryders place after school, I left my makeup and outfit at his place last night because we're going to go to the restaurant early to get everything ready.
After having a shower, I do a small amount of makeup and let my hair down in loose curls. I put on a white bandeau dress that I bought yesterday in the maternity section.
"Oh look at that sexy thing" Ryder grins as I walk into the living room. He's wearing a pair of grey half length shorts that make every girl swoon and a black half-sleeve button up shirt.

"Trust you to still be wearing those shorts" I laugh
"I always get the best reaction out of you when I'm wearing them" he winks and walks towards me. He rests both hands on my stomach before looking me in the eyes and giving me a genuine smile "even though we're not what people would call the typical family, I want you to know that I'm really excited for our baby to come and I couldn't be happier with the mother of it"
I grin before wrapping my arms around him and giving him my sorry attempt of a pregnancy hug. Thankfully Ryder still seems to appreciate it "thank you, and for the record I'm really excited too. Not to mention I wouldn't want to be in this situation with anyone else"
He grins "look at us being all soppy" he moves his hand and rubs my back soothingly "now let's go before Sean calls and has a heart attack"
I laugh "he's really beginning to act like a very angry event planner"
"Don't I know it"
We get to the restaurant twenty minutes later, like Sean described the walls are a white marble with contrasting black fancy tables.
"How can I help you guys?" A waitress walks up to us once we walk in
"Hi, we're here for Molly Greenes surprise party, we're decorating" Ryder tells her
She nods "Of course, right this way" she directs us to a private room at the back of the restaurant. It has the same layout as the main area it's just smaller with a view of the city below. "If you guys need anything, don't hesitate to ask" she gives us a friendly smile
Sean dropped off the balloons he wants us to have blown up along with two balloon pumps. We take one each and grab a packet of red balloons each
"Two down, only a hundreds more to go" Ryder laughs
A little over an hour later we're finished decorating, there's hundreds of balloons floating in the air near the high roof. For an extra touch Ryder and I bought a two and zero balloon because it's Mollys twentieth birthday.

I'm standing at the window looking out at the view below with Ryder standing beside me when the door opens.
"Hey guys" I say when I turn around and see Sarah and Mike walk in. Sarah is wearing a summer dress her bump a similar size to mine
"Hey" Sarah grins walking towards me while Mike gives me a smile and a nod before him and Ryder go wandering off
"I love your dress" I complement "not long left now"
Sarah grins "I can't wait, not to mention our kids are going to be the best of friends"
A few minutes later Ryder gets a message from Sean telling us they're on their way, so we all take our hiding spots and confetti cannons
"You really didn't have-" we hear Molly say once the door opens
Ryder silently counts down from three before we all jumps up shouting "surprise" while releasing the confetti
Molly jumps in surprise, followed by a huge grin on her face. She turns back towards Sean and wraps her arms around his neck before whispering something in his ear. We all move out from our hiding spots and Molly gives us all a quick hug before we take our seats
"I really wasn't expecting that" Molly grins once we've ordered our food
"Seans been annoying us about it all week" I joke
"Do this, do that, now this" Ryder mocks
"They're lying" Sean adds
Molly laughs "well thank you guys so much. If any of you ever need a babysitter I'm only a phone call away"
"So how does it feel to be 20?" Sarah asks
Molly sighs "old"
"As if" Sarah responds "you should feel the youngest out of all of us, you're not about to have a baby"
"True" she grins
"We actually got you a present" I say reaching into my bag before I take out a wrapped box. I pass it over to her "From Ryder and I"
"Aw thank you guys" she opens it to see the light purple bag and matching purse that we got her
"Wow I love it" she grins "thank you guys, I'm never going to stop using it"
I shrug "it's only something small"
"Speaking of presents me and Mike got you a little something too" Sarah passes Molly the present. Molly opens the present which is an amazing necklace
"Aw thank you, it's beautiful" Molly gushes "I love my friends" she grins
After the food we all separate into groups, I'm standing at the window with Molly
"I love your dress" I tell her "you look amazing and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks that" I wink. Mollys wearing a silk red dress that hugs her curves perfectly with a slit up one side of it. She also put on the necklace Sarah and Mike got her.
"You're so wrong" she tells me
I throw a quick glance at Sean causing Molly to do the same - and to her surprise, not mind, Sean is already looking her way
"I don't want to say I told you so, but I told you so" I grin
Suddenly a shock of pain hits me. I flinch and Molly notices it
"What's wrong?" Molly asks, panic on her face when I flinch again
"Get Ryder" I say when the pain doesn't leave this time. My hand immediately moves to my stomach and the pain gets worse so I sit down.
Ryder crouches down beside me seconds later, worry evident on his face "baby, what's wrong?" He asks one of his hands resting on my stomach while the other one rests on my cheek
A tear makes its way down my cheek and I shake my head "somethings really, really wrong"

Riposte
Noël is known across the city of Portland—and not by choice. Under the care of the richest man in the city and just transferred to a new high school, she's already making close friends... and bitter enemies. A chance encounter on her first day plunges her headfirst into a secret underground tournament. Between suspicious classmates and utter strangers, Noël soon gets a taste for the addictive rush of the duel, but questions of love and trust complicate every move she makes. Cutthroat games with grim consequences await her in a shadowy world of competitors all dueling for the greatest prize imaginable. A new story from Etzoli, that one butterfly who writes things. This is a side-adventure I've written during the pandemic, as I've been having a lot of trouble getting into the correct head-space for writing my main series (The Last Science). Expect some rougher bits. Schedule is sporadic, but this will be a shorter one (closer to Snipe or Epilogue in length). I hope you enjoy it! BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.

A Mob Boss's Honour
This is the story of many mob families. It is set in the 1950s. There are many families involved in the crime life in New York. There is honour. There is war to keep that honour. There is loyalty but there is betrayal too. This is not related to my other trilogy. The families featured in this book are different. This is a standalone book. Cover by @aresrising
