《He's My BadBoy》Chapter five

"Ryder and Talia, stay where you are" Mrs Henry says as soon as the bell signalling the end of class went
Ryder huffs as I drop my bag and sit back down. It only takes a matter of seconds for the students to be gone, rushing to meet their friends or get home. Thanks to after school detention, I don't have that pleasure
Mrs Henry stands up and walks towards us "I've received the first part of the pair work of every student apart from you two. Care to explain?"
"She's impossible to work with" Ryder crosses his arms
I look over at him in shock "I'm impossible to work with? You haven't even tried to work"
"Well either have you, ms I don't do anything wrong"
I roll my eyes
Mrs Henry looks amused as she crosses her arms and stands on front of us
"Well I've heard you two managed to get yourself some after school detention, so I want that project emailed to me by tomorrow" she turns to leave "detentions in here, your supervisor will be here in a few minutes"
Once she's gone Ryder speaks "What was it about?"
"Did you even read it?" When he stays quiet I get my answer "Ryder you idiot"
He rolls his eyes "so what was it about?"
"Social media"
The door opens and our supervisor peaked in. He frowned when he seen us "not you two again" he grabs the key to the room "I'm not spending another hour listening to you two bickering, so I'll be back later" he mutters before closing the door and locking it
Ryder huffs "let's get this stupid project done then"
It should have went smoothly, I mean it was just a project but with us it obviously couldn't
"How would social media be a bad thing all people do is show off and get likes?" Ryder asks
I roll my eyes "you'd say that because all you get is comments from girls every time you post"
"Don't pretend you don't get hundreds of likes"
"Yeah but all my comments are saying I've photoshopped my posts"
"Well do you?"
I raise an eyebrow "does it look like I do?"
He smirks "big ass and boobs? Nope pretty sure you have those already"
"Well we can't put that in our project so think" I cross my arms
"Just say it has a bad effect if you let it have one" I raise my eyebrow at him "what I'm actually smart remember?"
Both of our phones go off. It was a message in our years snapchat group from one of the girls saying they were having a boat party on Saturday

"Sounds fun" I mutter
"You going to go?"
I shrug "A party with all my loveable class mates?" I sarcastically reply "of course I'm going. I mean without me there'd be no fun"
He laughs "Guess I'm gonna have to go and see what trouble you cause this time"
"Promise it'll be worth it" I wink
Once I got home Emily was sitting on the couch playing with Oli
"Hey" I say closing the door behind me
Emily looks back at me smiling "Hey how was school?"
I sit down and take Oli off her bouncing him up and down "it was alright, there's a boat party on Saturday so that should be fun"
"Is Ryder going?" She grins
"So what if he is?"
"Don't think I don't notice the snapchat notifications"
I roll my eyes "we're just annoying each other" I think of something to change the subject "oh ya Alex Reid is back"
"He's what?" She mutters
Oli starts mumbling and giggling. I look up from him to see Emily's shocked face "He's back"
"Oh"
"Oh?"
"I'm just surprised"
I'm about to reply when Oli starts crying distracting me
I was lying in bed watching Netflix when Cammy text me
How was detention ;)
As good as detention gets!!
You going to the party
You betcha;))
The rest of the week was pretty boring. It mainly consisted of school, the gym and work. Me and Cammy had decided that I'd go to her house to get ready for the party. It's currently five and I've just got to Cammys house to get ready for the party
I knocked on the door twice before opening it. Cammy was the only one home so I went straight to her room
"Hey T" Cammy smiles at me through the mirror she's currently doing her hair at
"Hey"
"Ready to party?" She grins
I laugh "when amn't I"
An hour later we're both ready to leave. Cammy decided to wear light makeup while I opted for none. I already had eyelash extensions and my nails done so I didn't feel completely bare
Cammy was wearing a neon green bikini with her long brown hair falling down her back
I decided to wear a black strapless bikini with my hair slightly curled
"We look bomb if I do say so myself" I laugh as we take a few mirror selfies
"Boys will be lining up to be with us" Cam laughs
We decided to walk to pier which thankfully was only five minutes away from Cammy's house, for the main reason we both planned on drinking tonight. We got there at half six meaning we had another hour to spare so we spent our time taking even more photos

"We have to upload these to our snapchat stories" Cammy says and takes a seat beside me. Cammy decided on uploading one of her underneath the shower hose while I chose one of me on a sun bed
"Time for everyone to get on the boat" the girl throwing the party shouts and everyone starts rushing towards the pier
"Time for some fun" Cammy stands up and we slowly trail behind everyone else. The boat was huge so it didn't really matter whether you got on first or last. Someone said it had multiple bedrooms downstairs and a bathroom with the bar, some sun beds and another bathroom on the deck
The boat took off ten minutes later and so did the drinking and the games. Cammy had already drank enough with her being a lightweight so even though she wasn't fully drunk she was slightly tipsy and the nervousness had disappeared
"Hey Sean, Ryder over here" she shouted while we were lying on some sun beds
"What are you doing?!" I whisper shouted at her
"It's fine Talia, we look bomb and we have to show off what we go to the gym for" she whispers back
I pick up my drink and swallow it in one go. A few second later a shadow blocks the sun from me and when I look up I see a smirking Ryder clad in some red swimming shorts standing before me
"Do you mind? I'm trying to tan" I say
"Pretty sure you've already got that one covered babe"
I sit up and cross my legs. Ryder sits at the end of my sun bed facing Sean and Cammy who were both sitting up talking to each other
"One of them really needs to make a move" Ryder points out to me. They were to concentrated on their own conversation to even notice us
"Tell me about it" I stand up and grab my phone "wanna get a drink?"
Wait what was I saying and why was I saying this?
"Let's go" he leads us to the bar "we'll take two rows of shots"
The bartender nods and puts out a row of six shots for both of us
"Think you can beat me in a drinking game or are you a lightweight?" He cockily grins
I cross my arms "do I look like a lightweight to you?"
He pretends to think for a few seconds "yes"
"Well you're wrong"
"Wanna put your money where your mouth is?"
"Let's do it" I say before standing on front of the bar "3..... 2..... 1"
We both pick up the glasses one by one and luckily for me my last glass hit the counter two seconds before his
"What were you saying?" I grin at him
"I'm pretty sure I let you win"
I laugh and shake my head "you wish"
"Round two then"
"Fine"
"Fine"
And that's how we both ended up slightly past tipsy and acting like we were the best of friends
"Cannonball" we shouted in sync as we jumped off the edge of the boat. We rose above the water a few seconds later and floated around in a circle "I want a tattoo" I randomly blurt
"Of what?" Ryder asks
"A butterfly?"
"You don't seem like the butterfly type"
I shrug "it symbolises transformations and rebirth for me it's ab-" my sentence is cut short when Cammy shouts "you two clowns the boats going back to shore so get on or we're leaving" I look up to see her and Sean leaning over the boat
We both swim back to the steps and climb back on the boat. As soon as I get back on Cammy grabs my arm and pulls me to the sun beds where we began
"Whoa not to fast" I abruptly stop to try make my head stop spinning
"Talia how did you get in this state?" She crosses her arms and huffs
"What I'm normal amn't I?"
"And we both know that's because even when your drunk out of your mind you seem normal but in reality you have no idea what you're doing or saying"
"Cammy I didn't do anything wrong" I tell her "when did you sober up anyway?"
"When Sean got me a coffee"
"How cute" I gush for her
She sighs "look I may be rooting for you and Ryder but I want you to at least be sober when you have your first, well second, kiss"
"You're rooting for us?"
She nods "he brings out the fun side to you. Not that you're not already fun but you're just different when you're with him. Your smile is brighter, your laugh is louder, what more could you want?"
"You're delusional" I mutter shaking my head
"You're not even going to remember this in the morning T, so what does it matter anyway" Someone shouts the party's over "now let's go home"

It is an undeniable fact that good things come in small packages. More often than not, it is necessary to trim the fat in order to bring what really matters to the forefront. Having extra bulk may seem like a good idea, but in reality it is merely a crutch that will one day become a hindrance, as it is no substitute for personality nor ability. Indeed, often times it is the small things in life that brighten up our daily lives and constantly remind us exactly why we do the things we do. However, it is important to keep an open mind, for while bigger is not always better, there are also times when it is. This holds especially true when it comes to hopes and dreams, which have been known to require a suitably large container from time to time. And while dreaming big could potentially lead to massive dissapointment, one will never truly reach fulfilment if they think too small. A truth that one small woman with meager aspirations is about to find out. DISCLAIMER: This is a spin-off/side story of my main series, Everybody Loves Large Chests, which is also mandatory reading to understand this one. It runs parallel to the main plot, branching off from the chapter titled Upheaval 2, so there will be spoilers for anyone who hasn't reached that point.
8 62Divine Progress
Progress is a dubious god. After failing him, three people are banished from modern times and sent to another world. Seemingly out of place, Christoph is snatched from his own time and plunged into a world of violence and magic with no deity to lend him support. Instead, Progress has seen fit to curse him with an eternal hunger for magical energy. Branded as a demon, he must fight for survival while battling the servants of the god who sent him there, struggling against the 'gift' that Progress bestowed upon him and the past he sought to abandon. Can he make his way across the lands and gather enough strength to survive without the blessings of the Divine? Or will the gods bend him to their will, breaking him if he seeks to resist? This is not a short story, and the plot will take many twists and turns before Christoph's journey comes to a close. After all, it is not the destination, but the Progress that matters in the end. Like many other stories on RoyalRoad, this is my first piece. Feedback is more than welcome, so please leave a reply if you have a comment or question.
