《His Name Was Tate》a month

It had been a month since I moved back into the hospital. I spent almost my whole life here and yet I would never call it home. I missed my actual home. The one I took for granted. I miss my school. I missed my friends.

Becks made up here as much as she possibly could, and sometimes she brought Tim and Mrs. Robinson with her. Though me and Tim weren't that close originally, having him visit was still nice, and we've actually gotten pretty close since I had been admitted. But no Mike, mostly cause I didn't like him much. And of course, no Tate. Which is probably for the best I guess. But I'd be a liar if I didn't say I wished he came at least once.

Dad has been patient and sweet. And I was able to persuade him to keep his job at the Mancini's. I didn't want both of our lives to stop because I'm in the hospital.

And I had to have a hard talk with him. Cause if the wait for heart, or of something goes wrong during the surgery, I could die. And his whole life has been nothing but me. Besides my mom, my dad hasn't been on one date. Though we are technically, filthy rich, we barely touch the money due to the fact that he want to save for me and hospital bills.

But if I'm gone he's gonna be rich and alone. And what's all that money, if you don't have anyone to share it with. I wanted him to open up a restaurant again but he said baby steps. But I haven't given up on that yet.

Doc. Tyler is still a little heated with me but I'm wearing him down. Awhile ago I even made him laugh at a joke.

"Knock! Knock!" A female voice yelled from outside the door. I already knew who it was.

"Come in!" I yelled sitting up in my bed. Rebecca came in and Tim followed behind her. As soon as they came in I could tell something was off.

"Hey, Angel. How's everything going today?" Asked Tim with an awkward smile. The more time I spent with Tim, the easier it was to read him. Tim was a terrible liar. Whenever he tried to lie he would always have this awkward smile on his face.

Becks on the other hand was a great liar, from her face you would never know that she was lying to you. But she had a terrible tell. Whenever she lied she would fidget with her hands or something on her.

I looked between the two of them. They looked like a couple of crackheads and I couldn't help but laugh.

"So what are you about to lie to me about?" I said bluntly.

They looked at each other and immediately dropped the act. "Okay, two things." Tim said swiftly and looked over at Becks.

"First, your dad didn't want us to tell you, and we tried to tell him that we weren't good at lying to you, especially Tim. But he insisted and-" Becks cut off the rambling Tim.

"Your mom has been trying to visit you for the pass week and Tate is currently in the waiting room." Becks said quickly.

Veronica? Tate?

"Mmmm." was all I was able to get out. I'll be honest, I really didn't know what to say. I haven't talked to Tate since the nobody thing.

It was kind of embarrassing, especially since it was in front of his dad, who is also my dads boss.

I could feel my breathing beginning to pick up. Tim and Becks immediately sprung into action. Tim went for the inhaler and Becks was already on the bed next to me trying to calm me down.

"Here." Tim said handing the inhaler to Becks. She quickly put it up to my lips and gave me my two pumps.

She patted my back til she felt like I calmed down. "You alright?" She asked. I nodded.

"I can take him home." Tim said.

"No!" I blurted out before I could even think. "I'll talk to him. Just don't tell my dad?" I asked. My dad and Tyler have had a strict visitor policy. Outside of Rebecca, Tim, and Mrs. Robinson. No one else was really allowed up. They did T want anyone who was a possible stressor to me to even enter into my vicinity. Which is weird cause.....

"How did you guys even get him up here?" I asked.

"Well he was actually here because for treatment and-" Tim said.

"Treatment?" I asked.

"Ah. He had a bad fight last night. He won but it was brutal." Becks said. "But he's fine just a few bruises, nothing to worry about."

I don't there has been a time where I haven't seen Tate without bruises on him. Ah wait, there was a time.

Our first few interactions. An ache in my heart began to build, but I pushed it down.

"About your mom...?" Becks started.

I shook my head vigorously. "One demon at a time. I'll deal with Tate first. I need the closure anyway." Yeah. Closure. That's what I need.

They both looked at me and then each other and then back at me.

"Did you want one of us to be in the room?" Becks asked. I shook my head no. I needed to do this alone. I reached over to the desk next to the bed, and pulled out my 3:00 meds. It was only 2:30, but imma need them for this convo.

I popped a pill and waited a few minutes. "Good?" Asked Tim.

"Good. Let's do this." I said. Luckily, it was a weekday and in the afternoon so my dad was still at work. The two nodded and made there way out the door.

Tim poked his head in one last time. "We'll be out here keeping watch out for Doc.T." He said and shut the door behind him.

I nodded to myself. You got this girl. Just say what you want to say. Don't let him sway you! Closure! We need CLOSURE!

Knock! Knock!

My head shot towards the door. Ah fuck I'm not ready for this. "Who is it?" I asked. Now why the fuck would you ask that. You clearly know who it is.

"Tate." He said.

I took a deep breath and hoped to god I looked presentable. You got this, Meloni.

"Come in!" I said.

A few seconds later, the door began to open slowly and the tall figure made its way inside the room. He shut the door behind him but still had his back to me.

"Tate?" I called to him.

He seemed to have taken in a deep breath and finally turned toward me. "Hey. Been awhile, little owl."
