《His Name Was Tate》small talk

I sat in the room by myself in complete silence. I hadn't honest thought that Id come to this. I had a whole heart attack. And there is honestly no one else but myself to blame. I should've taken it more serious. I could've died today.
The sound of the door opening pulled me from my thoughts. I watched My dad enter the room quietly. He looked like he hadn't slept at all. His eyes red eyes moved over me laying in my bed. He must've cried. "Hey Nemo." He said quietly as he moved toward the edge of my bed. His hand rested on mine and he brought it gently to his lips.
"It's not your fault, pops." I said once he moves our hands back down. He looked up at me with sad eyes.
"She wasn't supposed to stay. I don't know how she got our new address, but I had told her that you weren't ready to talk, and that she needed to give you time. But you mother was never good at listening to me. She showed an hour or so after I got home. She thought you would be home, but I told her you weren't and that she should leave but she wanted to talk. So I let her stay for awhile. And she talked about what she's been doing for these past few years and stuff. And we just lost track of time." He began to ramble on and on taking about how sorry he was and how worried he was and how much he loved me.
I cut him by embracing him in the tightest hug imaginable. I don't want to argue or fight with him, especially if it might risk another heart attack. "I don't like the fact that she's here, but I also don't like it when we are at odds. After what Ty told me...." My voice began to trail off. All because I wanted to be a little normal. "I'll do better for you....for me....for us."

He just nodded and returned the embrace even tighter and we stayed like that for awhile.
After awhile Doc Ty had finally left, but not before giving another lecture. He said I was lucky I didn't have to undergo in serious surgeries. My dad told me my mom was staying at a hotel and that he told her to give me few days til I was completely stable. Which I was thankful for.
The sudden sound of my phone going caught my attention. I picked it up and saw that it was Becks. Thank god. I could use a friend right now. "Hello?"
"Aye. You stupid bitch. You had me worried to death. Are you ok? Are your limbs intact? Tu padre told the cliff notes, but didn't tell me everything. I was over here thinking the worst. Then the boys kept asking me where you were. Especially, Tate. Like is little owl coming? Where little owl? Like aye pendjo, take a hint. Like he acts like he doesn't have your number. Like call her stupido. Which he did, a few times, you should probably, text him. Let him know your alive. By the way did something happen between the two of you? Because I'm sensing tension." She said in a ramble. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah something happened." I said. I didn't want to talk about my near death experience. I've been thinking about it all day. I just want to give my mind a break for a sec.
"Before we get into the juicy details, I have to know. Are you really ok, chica?" She asked in a serious tone. "And don't lie. Last time you said you were ok and then a few days later your ass had a heart attack." I laughed.
"Yeah I'm fine. It was more of wake up call then anything." I said in a whisper.

"Did you want talk about it?" She asked
"Maybe soon, but not today, that's all I've been talking about all day today." I said.
"Okay. Just know that I'm here if you need me. Now, back business. What happened between you and Tate?"
I told her everything that went down last night before it went down hill. How me and him talked about everything and nothing. It was one of the most easiest yet hardest conversations I had ever had. If felt so natural. Then I told about our almost kiss and the way he was making me tingle.
"Oh my god girl. Do you know what this means?" She said.
"He crushing on you. You got out the friends zone. Congratulations!!!" She screamed in the phone. I couldn't help but laugh.
Then something else's came to mind. "There was something else, that kind of caught me off guard. He asked me not to go to the Halloween party. Though I definitely won't be able to go now. But still I wasn't expecting him to not ask me to go."
The other line went silent. "Tate asked you?"
She questioned. "Yeah?"
"Mike and Tim asked me the same thing. I had told them I wasn't going anymore cause I was gonna spend the weekend with you." She said. That's weird.
"Did something happen?" I asked.
"I don't think so. I'm gonna call you right back." She said.
"Okay." And she hung up the phone. Somethings going on? Why would they ask us not to go? I went through my phone and opened some messages from Tate.
Hey little owl.
Heard you was sick? U ok?
Call me when you feel better
I smiled at his text they were cute and simple. I decided to call him. It took three rings but he finally answered.
"Yo." He said
"H-hi." I stuttered.
"I heard you were sick?" He said. I couldn't really read his tone.
"Yeah. My body hates me." I said bitterly.
"Was it because of me? Was I doing too much yesterday?" He said
That's what he thought. "What? No! Honestly, if you were there, you would've probably been able to calm me down." I said without thinking.
"Did something happen after I dropped you off?" He asked.
I didn't really want to tell him but I decided to try to trick him. Info for info. "I'll tell you what happened if you answer my question first." I said
He chuckled. Music to my ears. "Technically, you should answer my question first, but I'll let you off since your sick. Go ahead. Ask away." He said, his tone seem to lighten up.
I couldn't help but smile. I'm gonna have to ruin it tho. "Why'd you and the boys ask me and Becks to not go to the Halloween party?" I asked
A heavy sigh left his lips. "Pick another question." He said coldly.
"Tate!?" I said.
"Yes, little owl." He said.
"Is there something going on? What are you guys up to?"
"Nothing you need to worry your little head about." He said. I hated how wishy washy he was. Literally yesterday we talking about everything and now today he won't even tell me this small thing.
"But Tate-"he cut me off.
"Let it go, Loni." He said and the hung up the phone.
