Day after day, Camilo had a certain time off where he would go check up on you seeing if you needed any help.
He came each day peeking from the corner of a wall, or sometimes he would hide behind a wagon, or sometimes a donkey. Sometimes he would shapeshift as someone else and walk past you, each day seeing that you didn't need help.
He slowly started to check up on you less and less as the days passed by seeing that you didn't need any help.
You look off to the side, towards a wagon, not seeing the familiar curly brown hair you would see most days peeking at you as you did your daily chores.
At first you were weirded out at the thought that he could've been stalking you, but your thoughts had been pretty even wrong one day when you were walking somewhere with way too much luggage on you. Camilo appeared out of nowhere and helped you out. The same thing happened two, maybe three more times, each time you wondered how he miraculously knew that you needed help, until one day you looked off into the distance seeing a head of curly brown hair with hazel eyes peek at you from the corner of a wall. Just as you blinked he disappeared.
At first you thought it was just your imagination, but these scenarios kept happening over and over until eventually you caught on. Purposely struggling with something as he walked up to you to help you out.
You thought it was cute at first, but Camilo only appeared after one failed attempt of you trying something, not letting you try it a second time.
It soon made you annoyed. Not being able to have a second try at something, who wouldn't be mad?
You wanted to prove to him that you could do things on your own, so you started to do things with the chance knowing that you wouldn't get another if you messed up once.
'I guess I drove him away.' You think to yourself. You look back at the wagon Camilo normally hid behind then looked ahead sighing to yourself sighing as you continued to walk. You took your time to where you needed to go, you bought your groceries, grabbed a couple of books from the library, you decided to grab yourself a snack because you thought you deserved the treat.
It was a successful day as you made your way back to your house. It was half past noon as you carried a load of things in your arms. Your lips were pressed together as you looked above the bags in your hands trying to see the path in front of your.
You get on your tiptoes trying to see if that would help you see on top of the bags. You freeze in your pose thinking to yourself slowly planting both feet back on the ground as you look around. Embarrassed, you continued to walk but with a quicker pace hoping the ground would swallow you whole.
You sighed again looking up at the sky, you stopped walking looking back to see something drop out of the bag for what felt like the 10,000th time (it's happened 8 times), you slugging your way towards the books you dropped. It hurts your soul seeing the book on the ground like that.
Another book fell; your eye twitched. You squatted down reaching for the book that fell first as everything that was in your bag fell on the ground.
You stare at the groceries with a blank expression and a smile. Your lip twitches. You closed your eyes, taking a deep breath. 'Where's Camilo when you need him?' You asked yourself plopping on the ground in defeat.

People gave your weird stares as they walked past you. You stared at them back, too tired to care at this point. Staring at the sky you closed your eyes letting a little sigh out through your nose.
Because of the sun the inside of your eyelids were a bright red.
The vision became a dark brown as you slowly opened your eyes.
"You look like you need help." Camilo smiled looking down at you. He nodded his head placing his hands on his hips. "Please." You said, "I don't think you understand how happy I am right now to see you." You smiled once Camilo helped you get on your feet.
He blushed, shoving his hands in his back pocket looking off to the side. "It's no problem, I just happened to be walking by." Which wasn't a lie, he really was just wandering around the town until he saw your body sprawled on the ground looking up at the sky rethinking your life choices.
He helped you collect all of the things in the ground. Camilo carried all of the bags, Camilo insisted that he took everything off your hands but you didn't let him grab a bag and the books you got.
"Thank you so much, Camilo. I owe you one." You smiled, taking the bags from him once the two of you reached your house. "It's no problem, you don't owe me anything. Just doing the daily work of a Madrigal." He smirks while posing.
"Right." You let a small smile on your lips as you look at Camilo.
"Well, you should get going." You shrugged your shoulders, "Continue your daily work as a Madrigal and all." You nudged him as you turned around.
Camilo chuckled watching you walking into your house, he shook his head.
"Y/N, who was that?" Your mom asked once you entered the house. You jumped looking over to see your mom and your sister on the window.
Had they been watching you talk to Camilo?
You looked behind you seeing Camilo who gave you a small wave, before placing both his arms in the back of his head walking away.
You turn your head back to face your mom and sister staring at you with a bright smile. "Was that your boyfriend?" You mom asked. "Little Y/N is dating somebody in the Madrigal family?!" Your sister added.
Your eyes bugged out, you were flustered; face redder than Dolores dress. Your arms gave out as you dropped the bags in your arms.
"Omg! So it's true! How long?!" Your sister yelled pointing at you.
"He's not my boyfriend!" You yelled, waving your arms around. "He's just a friend. Stop assuming things!" Your eyebrows furrowed, your arms crossed.
Your words went through one ear and out the other when your mom interrupted, "Oh honey, why don't you invite your novio for dinner?"
You stared at her with a shocked grin on your face.
You nervously stood in front of casita.
"Uhm... hola casita." You nervously waved. "Do you, uh, do you know if Camilo is home?" You asked.
No response.
You swallowed your spit, "Of course."
You looked to the side, "So.. does that mean he's still out in town?"
No response.
"Right, of course..." You nodded your head, "Thanks anyways." You smiled, waving, 'That was fun.'
You sat at the little fountain that was found in the center of the town. Every now and then you would see a member of the Madrigal walk past you, but you didn't see Camilo once.

Your lips pressed together, your head dropped down, if you came home now your mom would just make you find him again.
You knew lying wasn't an option. You could say that Camilo just didn't want to come, but your family wouldn't be happy with that. Plus having him there, he could tell them that we are a couple. They would listen to Camilo.
"You good?" You heard Camilo say. Your eyes shot open as you snapped your head up. "Camilo!" You stood up and grabbed his hands. "I know this is very sudden and all, everything is perfectly fine if you say no"
Camilo's eyes went wide, were you about to ask him out? He thought to himself as a smile appeared on his face.
"Will you have dinner with my family?"
"Yes! wait."
"Really?" You smiled, "Great! I'll see you then." You began to walk away, "I'll pick you up at around 6." You waved as you tan home.
Camilo stood there with a smile on his face. What was he thinking? Of course you weren't going to ask him out.
He sighed, his nostrils flared, he wasn't ready to meet your family yet.
He thought it would be in a different setting. Maybe the two of you would have been dating for a bit.
Back at Camilos' house, he had freshened up a bit, taking a shower, brushing his teeth twice. He even put a bit of his dad's cologne on.
He stood in front of his mirror. Did he look okay? He looks at himself from different angles making poses , different faces. He practiced what he would say to your parents when he met them.
He had Isabella make him a bouquet for your mom and a couple of yellow, pink, and white roses for you.
He decided to get to your house on his own. So when he was about to walk out of the house his mom stopped him. "Camilo, where are you going this late at night?" Pepa asked, pointing at the flowers in his hands.
He swallowed his spit, "Uh, my friend asked me to eat dinner at their place."
"With those flowers?" Pepa raised an eyebrow, she had a questioning look on her face as she narrowed her eyes towards her son.
"Don't tell me you got a partner!" Pepa smiled, a rainbow appearing above her head. Camilo blushed, "No!" His voice cracked, he clears his throat, "No."
"Is that why you asked for those flowers?" Isabella and interrupted. "No way anyone would want to date you?" Dolores teased, Camilo glared at his sister, "You're wrong! They would date me!"
"Who's this lucky person then?" Mirabel asked. Camilo licked his lips. "Y/N?" He squeaked. "Y/N?" They all yelled in unison.
Camilo jumped, "Them? Really?" Mirabel asked, "You gained their trust?"
Camilo straightens his posture, "I guess so, yeah." Camilo smiled.
"Well at least you aren't the only one freaked about tonight." Dolores said, sticking her ear up in the air. "Y/N's freaking out about right now."
"Really?" Camilo asked, Dolores nodded her head, "Their mom is asking about you right now."
"Guess you better get going." Lira el shoved Camilo out the door, "Good luck bro."
So you ended up not picking up Camilo. You opened the door seeing Camilo nervously stand outside with two boquetes in his hands.
He smiled, handing you one. "Hey." He says in a whisper tone. "Hey." You say in the same level tone he used.
"Y/N, is he here?" Your mom asked you to walk up to you.
"Oh! You're here! Please come in, come in." Your mom shoved you out of the way.
"U-Um, these are for you ma'am." Camilo said, handing the bouquet of red roses to your mom. "Oh thank you honey!" She grabbed the flowers in her hands and sniffed them, "They smell lovely." She thanked Camilo.
The two of you sat awkwardly sitting next to each other at the dinner table. You patted your lap, "So Camilo, just a heads up Imma need you to clear up, because my family didn't listen to me, they–"
"So Camilo!" You mom said sitting down at the table. "You're always so busy as a Madrigal, what made you choose our child?"
"Choose?" Camilo questioned, "Yes, aren't the two of you dating?"
Camilo froze, he turned and looked at you.
Your nostrils were flared as you covered your face.
He started to piece together what you had mentioned before your family sat down at the table.
His fists clenched, "Yes we are" He smiled.
You choked on the water you were drinking.
"Y/N! I'm so sorry about them." Your mom chuckled, your mom shot you a glare as you stiffened up continuing to eat.
"So out of all the people in this town perfectly suitable for you, why'd you choose this one?" Your sister said pointing at you with her fork. You shot her a glare as she smiled, taking a bite out of her food.
"Because when I first saw them, I thought they were the most beautiful people I had ever seen. I just knew they were the one." Camilo smiled, glancing towards you.
You looked at him with a shocked expression, you felt your face slowly starting to blushed as he stared into your eyes.
Man he was a good actor, you thought.
"How long have you two known each other?"
"About a year and 2 months ago."
"How long have you two been dating?"
"7 months."
You kicked Camilo's leg from underneath the table. When he yelled you turned and looked at him. "What's wrong, boyfriend of 7 months?" You said in a sarcastic tone. You placed a hand on his thigh as you looked at him with a concerned face. Camilo blushed, he hiccuped shapeshifting into you, then your mom, then your sister, Dolores, and finally back to himself.
You stared at him, this time with an actual concerned look. He cleared his throat looking at your family then back at you, "Nothing cariño." Camilo smiled, he played it off gently placing his hand on your cheek and planting a kiss on your forehead he continued to eat.
You slowly took your hand off of Camilo's thigh and placed in on your own.
Your mom continued to ask questions towards Camilo, and they answered each question as if they were true. You zoned out while eating your food looking at the two of them talking.
At some given point, you snapped out from reality.
You look down at your hand seeing Camilo place his hand on top of yours. He gave it a slight squeeze.
You looked up at him as you raised a brow, "You okay?" He mouthed. You nodded your head.
You fought back a smile turning back to your food about to be on your last bite. Camilo intertwined his fingers with yours.
It really felt like the two of you had been dating for a while right now.
You let out a puff of air out through your nose, giveing Camilo's hand a gentle squeeze. You kinda liked the idea of it.
Your mom ahead made you walk Camilo back to his house.
He walked beside you as you stared at the road.
"Why'd you lie to them?" You asked looking up at Camilo.
Camilo's lips pressed together. "How'd you think they would've reacted if they heard from me the truth that we weren't dating?"
Your lips pressed together, it would've gotten awkward. "I guess you have a point." You thought out loud. "But I—" You stopped yourself, "Nevermind that.."
Camilo glanced at you, he took a deep breath in gathering all of his courage and he held your hand again. "Was it really a bad thing that I lied?" Your hand stiffened, before hesitatingly intertwining your fingers with his.
"Yes." He smiled carefully, rubbing his thumb on top of your.
"Okay, but in a way, we've technically dated before." He spun you around.
You blankly stared at him, "I said technically." Camilo chuckled. You sighed, rolling your eyes.
"Technically." You repeated, "You never even made it official."
"But I could now." Camilo kissed the top of your hand.
You blushed, bringing you hand down taking Camilo's hand down with you.
"Shut up" You rolled your eyes turning your head in the other direction.
"Y/N." He stopped you from walking as he took both of your hands.
"You know, I meant every word I said back there... except for how long he had been dating." He corrected himself.
He pulled out a single red rose out of his back pocket.
"I know it's not much. But, I really do love you, Y/N. I always have. And I hope you can forgive me, and maybe w-we can move on, together! We can do this together, as a team, Y/N, just you and me! It's cheesy, I know." Camilo laughed, he placed both hands on your cheeks, he rubbed one thumb back and forth twice along your cheek as you stared lovingly into your eyes.
"I know we could last if we tried." He brought one hand down to intertwine his fingers with yours, and held your hands up to your shoulders.
He looked over at your hands, giving them a slight squeeze, he nervously looked back at you with a crooked grin.
You weren't holding his hand back. You were looking at him as if he was speaking another language.
"Y-Y/N?" Camilo asked, giving your hands another squeeze.
You snapped back to reality. "Y-Yeah, what?" You asked with the same expression.
"Are you going to give an answer~? Or.."
"Oh! Right! Right! You're right! Uh..." You looked down at your feet. "Uh..." You were still processing this, you just thought the two of you were just going to be friends. Well, he had confessed before...
Your breath started to quicken. "Uh..." You began to sweat looking into Camilo's eyes. You didn't want to hurt his feelings yet. "Uh..."
"C-Could you..." You took a step back, it felt as if your feet would give out at any given moment. "C-Could you... give me some time?"
You began to walk away, holding onto your hands to calm down. 'What was up with that?' You asked yourself. You felt bad for not giving him a response.
You grit your teeth forming your shaky hands in fists. You stopped yourself before you turned around and walked your way towards Camilos.
