《Environmental Science》High School from Hell

This is another short chapter. It's much better written than the last, but I still think it could be better.

For the record, the accompanied song was supposed to be 'Teenagers' by my chemical romance, but I couldn't find a working video for Wattpad. That's kind of like the song that explains them. So the next best thing I could really think of was 'Party In The Graveyard' by Ghost Town (I like the original but I could only find a working nightcore version) but I feel like that explains them better. They just want to have fun. They don't care if it ends up destroying a few buildings, especially since you've only got one life.

High school From Hell

Chapter 1

"Maira! Come on sweet heart, you don't want to be late!" Ivy yelled up the stairs. Instead of her skins normal green tinge, it was painted to its original milky color and her eyes no longer glowed so bright thanks to contacts. She was donned in a button up white shirt and black pinstriped pencil skirt, her hair pulled back into an elegant bun.

15 years have gone by since she received her daughter Maira, and much has changed. For one, poison Ivy herself rarely made an appearance these days, in favor of making her environment better for her daughter, even if the nymph loved her moms true identity. Speaking of the girl, her powers arrived with puberty. As soon as she turned 13, she found herself summoning storms and fire just from being upset. Of course now two years later she's better able to control it. And once she was, she was helping her mom with more minor missions, and even going on missions with her own group of villains simply known as 'Teen Misfits', their leader of course was Jack Quinn, aka WildCard.

Now there was a boy who was his fathers spitting image. Tall and lanky with black curly hair and a wide chesire like grin. Seems the only thing he got from his mom was his blue eyes. Just as he had promised himself as a child, he took care of Maira like a big brother, always looking out for her and always being there for her. Even if his over-protectiveness was a bit annoying at times, Maira was still grateful.

Maira herself grew into a beautiful young woman, which was no surprise considering her species. Her skin was still smooth and clear, and her eyes still that bright aqua blue. Her curly hair now fell around her waist in tight curls that constantly had autumn leaves falling from it. Thankfully her hair hid her ears quite well and she was able to live relatively normal during the day, except she had never gone to actual school. Her mother always taught her at home, so she was glad that now that she's starting high school she could go.

The nymph made her way down the stairs and to her mother. She was dressed in a floral corset top with a pair of denim shorts and a pink see-through button up along with brown sandals. Ivy smiled and led her daughter to the door where they would head to the closest bus stop. Ivy was terrified of letting her daughter go, but she couldn't be there for her every step of the way. With a sigh she sucked it up and kept walking.

~Nature~

The bus ride was horrible and awkward. First off, Mai had no clue where to sit so she just sat in the front like some lame kid. Then the doofus behind her kept talking about his stupid science project, and of course when she thought it couldn't get worse, some snot-nosed kid sat next to her and kept snorting and sniffling in her ear. She never thought she'd be happier in her life than the moment the bus pulled up to the school. She was on her feet and at the doors in the blink of an eye. She'd have to remember to catch s ride with Jack next time.

"Hey Mai!" Speaking of the clown prince. The nymph turned her head towards the voice as she got off the bus and was thankful to find Jack standing at the doorstep waiting for her in all his badass glory. Maira smiled and made her way to him, ignoring the curious glances as to why a freshman was talking with the resident bad-boy.

"Hey jack! Thanks for waiting." The taller of the two nodded and they turned to walk into the school. To say Maira was excited would be an understatement. She never really socialized with anyone in her age group besides the misfits and was happy to finally be able to.

"Sheesh Mai your practically skipping. It's just high school." The junior chuckled. Maira stopped bouncing and scoffed.

"Easy for you to say. You haven't been cooped up in a greenhouse for 15 years." Jack chuckled again and lead her through the halls.

"The others are waiting in the cafeteria. Marc is really excited since he's never seen you in daylight." That statement almost made her blush. Marcus was a good friend, but he was a little too playful. Maira almost always wanted to knock some sense into that boy.

As they walked through the halls, Maira tried her best to memorize where the important rooms were, but they were all so confusing. Would it be too much to ask for one hallway? Eventually they made it to the office where Maira got her schedule. She found it slightly funny when one of the teachers shrunk back at the sight of Jack walking in the door. Hmm he must have quite the reputation here; she was so proud.

The cafeteria was across the hall from the office. Half of it was outside and the other half was under a roof where the lunch lines were located as well. She thanked what ever entity was out there when she saw her friends sitting in the outside portion. She ran up to them and smiled. They all looked so different in casual clothes. Her best friend Amy Kyle, aka Kitten, was wearing a short red skater dress with a pair of black heeled sandals and dark makeup. On Amy's right sat Marcus Crane, aka Phobia, had a big smile like always. His ever present fake glasses were on his face, and he wore a red shirt with black jeans that had chains hanging from them. He smiled to her which she returned. Lastly, with a sinister grin craved into his face, Keith, aka Klarion the witch boy, was on Amy's left. He, of course had his hood up, covering his devil horned shaped hair.

It was so strange seeing her friends out of 'uniform' but she liked the change.

Amy smiled slyly at the nymph as she sat down.

"So this is what you look like in real life?" Maira smiled back and nodded.

"Yup. It's so weird sitting here with you guys so casually. You actually look like functioning members of society." Marc let out a chuckle before reaching across the table to ruffle her hair, earning him a death glare. They always treated her like a child, normally to her dismay.

"Ah whatever Venus. Welcome to Gotham high by the way. Hell on earth." She laughed a little at him before Jack whacked his head, causing Keith to let out an unexpected chortle.

"Dumbass, we aren't out on a run. Her name is Maira." The others laughed heartily at the red faced Marcus who puffed his cheeks, but he didn't dare make a move against Jack. While he was more stable than his father, he still had one hell of a temper.

"Sorry, forgot about that." Keith laughed. He was actually in the same grade as Maira, which hopefully meant they had classes together.

"Jeez you know not to provoke Jacks wrath this early." He said to Marc who nodded but glared at the younger boy anyways.. So far things were going great for the nymph, school didn't seem anywhere near as bad as her 'big brother' had said. It wasn't until the door to the cafeteria opened and a group of seniors walked in that Mai started to feel uneasy. The air around them seemed off. It was like their presence was stronger and demanded more attention than the average persons. She didn't like it but something about them seemed awfully familiar.

Turning to Jack, she tugged his sleeve to gain his attention.

"Who's that?" She asked with a jerk of her head in their direction. With once glance at the groups way he scoffed and glared at the lot of them. That's when Mai knew her instincts weren't off.

"That's the group of goody-goodies. They're so annoying they ruin all our fun." Mai looked them over again, to observe them. The boy walking in front, whom she assumed was the leader type had black spiked hair and a muscular build with blue eyes. He radiated authority and seemed like a no-nonsense kind of person.

Next was a tall thin girl with bright reddish-pink hair that fell to the top of her calf muscles. She had fluorescent green eyes and it seemed as though the whites of her eyes were tinged green as well.

Behind her was another girl, one who Maira felt she could get used to. She had short purple hair and matching purple eyes. Her face was set in a frown and her skin almost looked gray.

Beside her was a boy with blond hair, green eyes and pale white skin. He had a tooth poking out from his bottom lip which made him seem way too silly. The way he laughed at every little thing made Maira annoyed, and she wasn't even near him.

Last was an African-American boy who towered over the others. He had short black curly hair and his eyes were a boring brown. Something about this last boy though had Maira feeling excited anxious and above all confused. Something about his aura was all wrong. Before she could get a good grip on his energy he turned his head and his eyes caught hers. For a moment everything stopped and all those feelings from before intensified as he did nothing but frown. She growled under her breath but stopped herself when she felt the air around her get hot. No need for sudden bursts of fire surrounding her. She turned back to her group of friends.

"Something about them pisses me off. I don't know what but it does." She said to Jack who nodded.

"Same. The one with the black hair is Richard 'Dick' Grayson. Funny how his name describes him so well. Then his girlfriend is Kori Anders, the one with purple hair is Rachael Roth. She's actually not all that bad though. But her boyfriend is an idiot. His name is Garfield Logan, he's the blonde kid. And the last one is Victor Stone. Not much to say about him. "

"Then you should keep your mouth shut Quinn." A voice interrupted. Jack and Maira, who were facing away, turned around to find the subjects of their conversation. Mai instantly noted the thick uncomfortable air surrounding Jack and Dick. Jack gave a small laugh.

"Oh if it isn't Dicky! What brings you to our side of the cafeteria?" He asked in a tone only the clown prince and his father could pull off; happy yet threatening. Dick growled.

"Heard you spewing your shit from the other side of the school. You had better not cause any trouble this year Quinn." The way this boy said his name made Maira feel defensive even if Jack and the others only chuckled.

"Why would you think lil ol me would do such a thing? I'm so hurt Grayson. Right here." He pointed at his chest and couldn't help but let loose a snicker setting the rest of the misfits into a laughing fit. All but Maira who still didn't like their presence. As Dick and Jack continued arguing. The girl referred to as Kori turned to address the nymph.

"Hello new student my name is Kori, I wish to be friends if you like." She said with a soft smile. Maira scoffed under her breath.

"No thanks. I've got all the friends I need." This made Kori frown and Dick turned to Maira this time.

"Trust me, we're better company than this lot." Maira laughed and the others gave a small snicker as well.

"Yes of course you are, Dicky. I bet you all have a riot discussing your math problems and going over homework." Marc piped up. Making Keith smirk and go along with it.

"Oh and don't forget going to the library during study hall to study. Gee, I really wish I was apart of your group. Don't you Mai?" She grinned.

"Hell no. No one can fuck some shit up like us." The clown prince smiled and slung his arm around her.

"Hell yeah Mai. Well you heard the lady." He moved his hand in a 'shoo' motion which made Dick growl again before walking off with a solemn Kori, unsympathetic Rachael, and confused Garfield. The only one still there was Victor who took a moment to look the nymph and clown over. Maira stared directly into his eyes, trying her best to read his person, but it was like trying to push through a steel wall. Victor sighed before walking back to his friends.

"Well that was weird. Since when does Victor stay any longer than the others?" Amy chimed making Marc shrug.

"Who knows. Maybe he has a crush on Maira." At that statement the air seemed to get cold as the clown prince stood up glaring in Victor's direction.

"Over his dead body." Jack chuckled darkly making Maira hold the bridge of her nose. Oh so this is what Marc meant about high school being hell.

So? How's it so far? Be honest I can take it!!!

.......

Ok I lied I can't ._. But helpful criticism is nice though ne?

None of the people up there are anyone particularly special or named I just found them on Google :)

Except Johnnie Guilbert. He's the guy with the glasses. Also I know Maira's eyes aren't blue in that picture.. Just imagine i guess.

SNEAK PEAK

Maira could feel something itching under the skin on her wrist. Yes she was irritated. Yes she was annoyed beyond belief. And oh yes, she wanted to burn a hole in the wall, but she couldn't shake the feeling of how nice it felt to have his rough calloused hand on her skin. As if the sudden thump of her pulse wasn't enough clue. Maybe he liked how it felt too. Maybe that's why he held it for so long. Maybe that's why she tolerated it. Either way she took notice of how he loosened his grip and took even more notice to how she didn't move away now that she had the chance.
