《Environmental Science》Middlemist Red

So this is the first story I've ever posted on here. I did one a while back on fanfiction, but it only had two chapters and it sucked beans. I've been really into comics lately so I figured why not write a story? It kind of starts awkward cause I'm just getting back into writing, but I hope you enjoy :3

The picture above is of the Middlemist Red flower and the downstairs to Ivy's greenhouse home. The song is 'Trick or Treat' by Ghost Town.

Middlemist Red

Prologue (part 1)

Gotham city was an.... Interesting place most would say. While during the day, all was quite normal and relatively quiet. The air was calm and the citizens were able to roam the street without much caution necessary. However as the suns final rays began to disappear, it became a completely different place. Parents would hurry their children inside, employees that didn't get off until evening would scurry home as quick as possible, and even police who were stuck with the night shift dreaded their time on duty. As they say, the freaks come out at night.

Yes Gotham was infamously known for its criminal activity and even more so for its bizarre criminals. From evil clown men with psychiatric problems, to corrupt millionaires with unnecessary vendettas, Gotham was a relatively dangerous place to live. Even with their own masked crusader or 'Dark Knight' as the citizens put it.

"STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW!!" Could normally be heard in loud volumes at 3 am on a typical night, just as it was tonight. The police followed a young red headed woman both on foot and by car. She was a sickly green color, with fluorescent leafy green eyes which were narrowed at the moment as a smirk spread across her beautiful face. She wore a one-piece, abundant in fresh green leaves and was covered in vines that seemed to sprout from her body. Her fiery red hair was as well showered in tree leaves and flowers. This woman was a relatively new villain in town, but has already made herself known as Poison Ivy, the bio-terrorist.

In her arms, carefully held was the rare Middlemist Red, a beautiful flower that was only one of two in it's species. Ivy had taken it from the museums genetics lab. Those idiots didn't know how to take care of such a special gem, it would never survive. They should be thanking her for taking it.

As the police drew closer, Ivy pushed her legs as fast as she could, she was almost to the outskirts of the city, and while her powers were pretty much useless here, those cops wouldn't stand a chance once she set foot on the grassy field. Then it was home free from there.

As she came into contact with natural earth she instantly raised a hand to summon her vines, the snake like plants raising from the ground to greet their mother and protect her from harm. With a swift flick of the wrist, they shot towards her pursuers, gripping them tightly and holding them in place, even some squeezing so tight they cut into flesh.

Breathing heavily, the flower girl smirked and made her way towards her home, happy with her successful mission. Screams and cries were heard loud through the air that were only silenced when the plant was completely out of range.

~Nature~

Ivy's home was a deserted greenhouse that she came upon only two years prior. When she had first arrived, it was overgrown with moss and vines, many of its original plants in the process of dying. The freshwater pool was covered in algae and the upstairs was almost completely covered in grass, which of course, Ivy didn't seem to mind. After a little work, the space was transformed into this paradise like space with many exotic flowers and trees. A perfect living space for a nature child like herself.

Upon entering, Ivy immediately ran up the stairs and to the second floor where her room was located and planted the Middlemist Red into the grassy floor. With a little help from her powers the flowers roots were nestled into the dirt and settled correctly. A smile spread across Ivy's face before she got up from her position and made her way back down the stairs to the fresh water pool for a much deserved bath.

As she stripped down, Ivy's thoughts drifted to her best and only friend Harley Quinn, a clown girl she met during an encounter with Batman. She was in the process of completing her first successful mission, when she saw the woman's boyfriend, Joker, make a run for it, completely forgetting his 'partner'. Ivy grew angry and stepped in. Luckily for her, the dark knight had never encountered her before, so he was at a loss of what to do when the tree behind suddenly grabbed him and held him firmly with its branches. The girls were able to make a run for it, beginning the close friendship they now have.

As heartwarming as that memory was, Ivy's thoughts were a little more focused on something, or rather someone else. Little Jack Quinn, the one year old clown prince. He was quite the mischievous one, taking after his father in that category most definitely. Ivy could remember when harley first told her she was pregnant. Of course she was happy for her, but at the same time she couldn't help the longing she felt in her heart for a child she could never have. The toxins in her body would most definitely kill the man, baby or both before she would reach her first trimester.

With a sigh, Ivy shook these thoughts from her head and sank further into the water, letting the steady flow wash away the aches and pains in her body. She should ask the clown girl to come visit with the infant tomorrow. They could use their alter egos to visit the shops in town or go to the park. Anything was better than sitting around bored.

15 minutes passed before the flower girl finally emerged from the pool. Deciding to air dry, she made her rounds, checking on her plants watering and grooming when necessary. She would smile and talk with them, brushing softly against their leaves at times before moving onto the next one. When she was finished with the ground floor she made her way to the second where her more rare and exotic babies were kept. She was ready to start checking on these plants as well when the Middlemist Red caught her eye. In only an hour, the unbloomed flower had grown three times larger, about the size of a large beach ball.

Considering how rare the flower was, Ivy wasn't sure wether this was normal or not so she walked towards it, to inspect it. Reaching out her hand, Ivy noticed how warm it felt, almost like blood was rushing through it. Now pressing both hands against it, Ivy could feel a gentle pulsing, like a heart beat. Now she was even more curious. Retracting her hands, she reached to pull back the petals when the flower opened on its own. What was found inside made the plant girl stumble back and fall flat on her butt in shock.

A baby.
