After the details of the global environmental issues that are plaguing our beloved Earth elucidated by my fellow group mates, we know that these issues are not to be taken lightly. Why? I heard you asked. Well, grant me the honor to summarize for you in case you are still not aware of the solemnity these issues can cause further to our world if actions are not being implemented to mitigate this problem. As we all know, the major environmental issues are pollution(both air and water), global warming, ozone layer depletion, natural resource depletion, overpopulation, waste disposal, deforestation and loss of biodiversity. Unsurprisingly enough, all these issues share a similarity, that they are stemmed from humans' creations. Advancement of technologies are cool and all and benefited the humans greatly over the decades, however, just like all things, where the law of equivalent exchange applied, even a significant leap of technologies comes at a great cost too. And the cost being the emerging of environmental issues. If you think that the planet will be the only one taking all the consequences of all our doings just like the law of equivalent exchange, well, you are cute and naïve then. As mentioned, it worked just like the law but it comes with an extra hidden evil flaw, and that is the damage sustained by the planet will come back and haunt us sooner or later, just like how karma works. For instance, let's talk about the water pollution, water is an essential resource for all life on Earth, if a water source becomes contaminated due to pollution, it leads to several health issues such as cancer or cardiovascular conditions. Scary, right? Furthermore, if we date back to centuries ago, when everything was undeveloped, an era where the burning of fossil fuels, cutting down of rainforests and vehicles did not exist, lush green lands of sizeable coverage that inhabited the Earth could be sighted. But look at it now, the greenery has been halved compared to last time, causing the emissions of greenhouse gases to surge like a wildfire to the point of depleting the ozone layer in the span of just few decades. Not to mention the arctic glaciers is rapidly melting too contributing to the rising sea levels, which in turn increases the coastal erosion. Also, the melting of glaciers affect the animals too because those glaciers are their habitats that they reside in. And as far as I know, the polar bears did nothing to deserve such treatment. Anyway, the rapid globalization is leading to a number of environmental issues because of the uncontrolled urbanization, industrialization, deforestation and loss of useful agriculture land. These issues are accompanied by serious health effects and accounted for nearly a tenth of deaths and disease burden worldwide. If we still want to strive in technologies but maintain the health of both the world and the humans, we better pay our utmost attention into enforcing appropriate laws to overcome these issues and make aware to use natural resources in sustainable manner. Because due to the aforementioned environmental issues, our planet is facing a severe environmental crisis right now. These issues lead to disasters and tragedies now, and will lead to casualties in the future too. Better late than never.
