《Lost Luna》abilities

My nerves had grown throughout the day.
Pollux and I were on lockdown in the house and everyone had their mind links blocked from us, so I had no idea what was going on. We were not allowed to leave, nor was anyone allowed in. There was no commotion nearby as most of the warriors were out on the so-called breach. Four guards were surrounding the house, which I felt was rather silly, but Phoenix had insisted.
We sat at the breakfast bar, attempting to eat lunch. I found myself picking at it, dragging the pasta around the bowl with mixed emotions. I had hoped the day after the fights would be spent as me and Phoenix together before my heat came tomorrow. Instead, he was who knows where attending to a border breach for the past four hours.
Pollux sighed and pushed his plate to the side. He had finished his meal and gave me a concerned look. I rolled my eyes at him, shoving a forkful in my mouth to make him back off.
"He'll be okay, Nova." He sighed.
"I know," I nodded. "I know he will, I just... can't help but worry about them all. Whatever this breach was, had come through some of the strongest borders. Did Raven or Gaia pick up on anything?"
His lips pursed over my question, but I stared at him intently as I awaited the answer. I know Raven had accompanied us back home and is currently residing in a cabin on the out-skirt of the land as they reconnect. I haven't seen her since I climbed on the bus, nor during the journey nor the fight. Phoenix had said they teleported and I had grumbled about how they couldn't just teleport us home. It didn't work that way.
"I haven't spoken to Raven since yesterday." Pollux shook his head.
"Did she seem off at all? I've not seen her in a while."
He raised an eyebrow at my curiosity. "Why the sudden interest in the witches?"
I frowned down at my bowl, my hand holding my head up on the side as I stared at him. He had caught onto my curiosity well, and I knew I wouldn't be able to lie out of this one. I was not a very good liar when it came to Pollux; he saw right through me.
"You know you asked me if I felt any danger?" I asked and he nodded. "Well, I didn't feel any danger. I just felt a...foreboding weariness. I guess, what I mean is...I don't know, I just-I felt strange, but not like my life was in danger."
He stayed silent, studying my facial expressions as I thought about how I felt. Truth is, I wasn't sure how I felt.
"I don't know, Pollux. I feel a sense that something is coming, and I don't know when. Why do I feel like this? Why do we sense things like this?" I sighed.
He shrugged, "I honestly don't know. I have asked some of our cousins, but they don't have the same abilities."

"Abilities?" I shook my head.
"Yeah, like how we can sense the danger, and we have a way with animals. Have you ever felt drawn to animals, Nova?" He wondered and I nodded my head yes.
I remember the bunnies in the forest or the ones that lead me through the rain to find a home. I always felt guilty for hurting small creatures but I never thought it was anything other than, well...me.
"The other groups have mastered their talents. Cyrus can persuade the elements in their favour and see when dangerous weather is coming; that's how they started. They sensed the bad weather and somehow mastered being able to control it before it happened... Terra, I believe, can create shields of some kind. I never stayed there too long to pay attention." He chuckled, "Far too cold up there."
I giggled at him; it was very typical of Pollux I found, to not pay attention if it didn't benefit him. "So the danger thing, you think it could lead to something else?"
He nodded, standing from the table. "I do."
"Where are you going?" I asked when he turned to leave the table.
"Your mate is on his way back."
"He is?" I frowned, standing from the table.
I tuned in my hearing and the mate bond and found he was right; they were coming closer to the house. I felt my shoulders sag in relief when I found all of them were together; no one was missing. I could sense the anger as Phoenix grew closer and when the door flew open and banged off the wall, I realised why they had stoppers glued into the plaster.
Phoenix was scary when he was angry. His eyes were pitch black, his shoulders hunched and fists clenched by his side. He was visibly shaking, holding back a half shift. His nose turned down at my brother before finding me still standing in the door frame.
"Is everything okay?" I whispered, taking a hesitant step into the foyer.
Charlie came around Phoenix, his face just as angry as his Alpha. "Yeah, but they got away. It's a lot more complicated, I'm sure he will explain it to you. If you'll excuse us..."
I watched as Sean and Charlie marched off towards the Beta office, their postures stiff with unease. I dipped my gaze back to mate and once my eyes locked with his angry ones, I couldn't move away. I swallowed harshly when he began to make his way over. I tensed when he stood before me and he inhaled deeply before lifting his arms to my shoulders.
He embraced me, his stiff form begging to relax as he took in deep breaths. "Nova."
I relaxed my body into him, pressing my cheek against his chest. The rapid thrumming of his heart danced wildly in my ear as I wrapped my arms around his waist. I found myself tracing a pattern down the length of his spine as he held me.

"Wanna talk in our room?" I asked.
He pulled away to look down at me in astonishment. I blushed at the expression, his now dark hazel eyes showing me everything the bond was. He was shocked yet enlightened at my words and I wondered why.
"Our room?" He mused.
I sucked on my lips, realising what he was hinting at. I had admitted out loud, that it was our room. It was a great accomplishment for us.
"Yes." I eventually nodded.
He grinned and lifted me over his shoulder. His mood had changed to a happier one as he carried me like a sack of potatoes. I had squealed and smacked at his shoulder in protest, but he merely commented on my 'feather' touch. The familiar sound of his keypad unlocking had my ears perk up in interest.
"Why that pin?"
"Sorry, my love?" He wondered, shutting the door behind us.
"Why 1504? I thought perhaps a birthday, but your birthday is November?" I wondered.
He entered the part of his floor I had never been in before. It was a small cinema type of room, with a large, wide sofa that may as well be a bed, a huge projector screen and fridges and cupboards lining one room. I wondered why I had been dumped in here.
I looked up to Phoenix to find him almost embarrassed.
"What?" I laughed.
"It's the day I met you."
My heartbeat fluttered in my chest, and I inhaled a sharp breath at his words.
"The day we met?" I repeated.
He was the one to laugh this time, coming to sit beside me on the huge sofa. His arm wrapped around my shoulder and pulled me to his side. I fell into him on instinct and wrapped my arms around his chest. Safe.
"I know from the day I met you that I would go to the ends of the earth for you Nova." He spoke softly.
I hid my blush from his prying eyes and stared down at the loose thread on the shorts he wore. "Thank you. I know it's not been...easy."
"For both of us Nova, we have both had to overcome some things." He rubbed my shoulder. "Enough soppy crap, let's watch a movie."
"Oh no, you're not getting away that easily." I chided, sitting up and out of his arms. "What was the breach about? You were gone for hours."
I felt him tense and a low growl escaped his chest, his eyes narrowing. "Witches."
I felt the sensation of water rush over me, my mind going blank. My gut was hinting something was wrong, and I felt weirdly scared that I had been right.
"Witches? Again?" I whispered.
He nodded, his eyelids drooping as he turned to look up at me. I licked my lips nervously. I knew it was something difficult because of the way he had reacted.
"Witches someone snuck wolves through my border and they managed to break into the dungeons." He muttered and I tensed. "They took around six wolves, and killed a few others. We don't know who came or why, but they had been down there for at least twenty minutes. We were only alerted when the prisoners tried to cross the border. We tracked them for about four hundred yards before they disappeared; that's where we were. Trying to find them... I have men running reports, the patrol wolves nearby were unaware of anybody crossing."
My mind whirled a million thoughts as I tried to make sense of what had happened.
"Any casualties?" I wondered, and he shook his head. "So they snuck through without being seen, without alerting the border patrol, nor the dungeon guards and even managed to escape into no man's land untraced... Yet they got caught slipping out of the territory? Seems suspicious to me."
His eyes flickered and he pushed himself to sit straight on the sofa, his elbows falling to his knees and his chin to his palms. He looked so...tired. I felt the urge to comfort him, so climbed my way through his elbows to sit on his lap. He had chuckled at me but supported my movements with his hands on my hips. Cel purred in my mind, enjoying being sat on top of him like this.
I ran my hands through his hair, watching as the dark wet strands fell down the side of his face. "You need time to clear your head. Don't go diving into this headfirst or you will burn out."
His thumbs traced small indents into my hips, massaging the skin gently. "My Luna."
I giggled, cupping his jaw in my hands. "Not official yet, mate."
He smirked, a dangerous look in his eye. "Well, there is always one way we can change that..."
I squealed when he suddenly fell backwards, my hands coming to catch myself on the pillow behind his head. I laughed at his grin and cheeky attitude, enjoying the relaxed Phoenix. Just a little time to himself, to clear his head. Too many thoughts clouded his judgement and he got too angry.
His hands moved up my waist to tickle at my rib cage and I breathed a gasp at the buzzing electricity from his touch. I felt myself heat up with desire, the morning we had spent together flittering into my mind. With no hesitation, and my heat around the corner, I gently lowered my mouth to his with my hands on either side of his neck.
Just a little time...
